Toups was, to say the least, delicious. It's a rare taste of authentic Cajun in New Orleans. I had the boudin balls and the seafood couvillion. Highly recommend!

Service was terrible. We were seated and ignored for over 15 minutes. The waitress finally came to get our drink order, and proceeded to serve the table that was seated after us. After 25 minutes of waiting, still without any drinks at the table, we decided to leave and get dinner elsewhere.
Everything was amazing. You must get the meatery board!

We went for lunch and ordered from the Coolinary menu. The food was just okay. We had a couple of glasses of wine which weee quite pricey.

Going to a new restaurant for the first time during Covid is no way to really judge a place. Or maybe it's a great way to really see a place for real. Whatever the case, Toups Meatery proved to be a great birthday gift. The food is great, the staff is charming and unpretentious and the place is all of the above. We have avoided the vortex of TV news this year by watching Top Chef. Toups proved himself a worthy master among some solid competition and he never lost his sense of humor. So we were excited to put it to the test. I have no idea who cooked the food we ate, but we certainly felt his hand in the meal: cornbread, boudin, a killer pork chop and over-the-top meat and potatoes in the Waygu beef. Order in, or visit in person. It will not disappoint.
The service was incredibly friendly and accommodating. The first course of a Meatery board and cheese was outstanding and the tomatoes were as ripe and delicious as any I’ve ever had, no joke. Unfortunately the pork chop and wagyu beef were both undercooked, even though I like the former medium and the latter medium rare. Surprising, but true. Will still go back though—we all MUST support a chef doing so much for the local community!

Coolinary Menu was great! My Manhattan came with a candied cracklin and that’s just plain genius. There was only one server and one bartender, but they hustled and we never lacked anything. Love Toups, keep up the great work!

The good: Restaurant followed Covid protocols, very enjoyable atmosphere under current circumstances. Boudin balls- very good. The not so good: Shrimp appetizer- shrimp had not taken on any of the flavor of the muddy looking and tasting mixture(?) sauce(?) that it was on, so maybe a good thing. 3 or 4 medium shrimp, this dish was not inexpensive. A-1 type sauce (seriously that’s what it tasted like to me) on the Wagyu steak and eggs was overpowering. And I guess I should have asked what cut of meat the steak was because it was skirt steak- for $32.
It just didn’t feel like there was a James Beard award winner in the kitchen that day. I do wish them the best, but this didn’t cut it, honestly.
Food was excellent and the wait staff was very friendly. I feel badly rating the service 3/5 because while they were incredibly slow, I want to give them the benefit of the doubt because they were obviously understaffed due to COVID. Still, when we sat down to lunch, we were only the 3rd table there with people, and lunch took an hour and 45 minutes. All that said, we would be thrilled to visit Toups again and again, as the food was that good.

Such an amazing meal. Started with some drinks, boudin, cheese plate, and a lamb corn dog!! We finished with the special fig salad, the Chef's Burger and a special moment with Chef Toups.

This was my first COVID dining experience since early March. The staff seemed to take extra care in following health and safety protocols. The restaurant appeared clean and organized to allow for social distancing, even in the outside dining area.
Fabulous drinks, tasty boudin balls and a great burger! Only complaint was the confit chicken was a bit dry...collards greens that accompanied the chicken were insanely good however!
Toups is always a treat — a meal even more meaningful with all the restaurant is doing for the community right now. Everyone is stretched currently, but I do have a service complaint. About 45 minutes after the conclusion of my meal, I realized I had forgotten my boxed-up leftovers (about half of the delicious pork chop). I called and was told it was thrown away after they wondered if I would come back. Good service, of course, would mean picking up the phone and calling to alert me, not just wonder if I might return. I made the reservation through OpenTable, so it would have been easily accessible.
Again, everyone is short-staffed, filling roles someone else normally would, but a little step would have gone a long way. I’ll certainly return, but it will take a while.
Disappointed by service. I asked about cocktails, and the server/bartender said he did not know either one. So, no guidance there. We were never asked about refill of beer or cocktail while dining. Water glass also was not refilled in a timely manner. For the cost, the food was just average. Wagyu steak was flavorful but tough and chewy. Not the best dining experience for the price after hearing such great things.
