The main course meat dishes were absolutely divine! One of us had the venison, the other the double thick pork chop. Both were cooked to perfection, sauced lightly, and set on a bed of grains. The service and appetizers weren't as laud-worthy. The mixed greens salad was overdressed, the drinks arrived very late. We were originally seated at a tiny table squeezed into a corner between the kitchen and walkway, then we were moved to another room with a room of 10 very loud men who had just been seated. Finally, we were seated outside (our original request when booking). The meal was much more enjoyable there. And beware of the sloping floors, I slid right down on my way to the bathroom!

Considering you can eat at some really high end restaurants in New Orleans for cheaper, I thought the prices were a little high. Food was good and meatery board was a great start to the meal. Drinks were OK (had the Toups Manhattan & dirty martini). Overall it is a good meal, but there is better food for cheaper prices all over New Orleans.

It was a Tuesday night in New Orleans and the 6 of us were looking forward to Toups especially since it came recommeded. The food did not disappoint each of us ordered something different and everything was just as we hoped. Our biggest problem was the wait time, as I said it was a Tuesday night only 4 to 5 other tables occupied yet everything from getting our drinks to the very long wait for dinner took for ever. Our waiter did do his best by bringing us a second round of wine so that we had something to drink with our dinner. With all that once again the food was fabulous!!

We love having brunch at Toups’ Meatery whenever we’re in New Orleans! We love the Meatery Board because of the different tastes of meats and accoutrements, and the menu offers something a little different than the typical New Orleans fare. I’m never disappointed with the service, and the food is consistently delicious every time.

The food was great but it took such a long time for it to come out. The service as far as my waiter/bartender were awesome the issue was back on the kitchen. I would go back again and also recommend it because the food was very good and the prices are reasonable.

I was excited to see Toups Meatery participating in Restaurant Week. The specials, 3 courses & glass of wine, did not dissappoint. We tried the delicious scallops served over greens and actually drank the jus! Our waiter, Christopher, was very attentive & had our drinks & courses moving right along. Now I look forward to returning to experience the meats this place is famous for.

Service was very slow. We waited 30 min for our drinks, 1 hour for our food. Wagyu wasn’t real wagyu. Overall taste of food was mediocre.

I was excited to return to Toups after trying them for the first time about two years ago. My wife and I made a reservation during Restaurant Week, to take advantage of their prix fixe menu at a reduced price. When we were seated, we asked for the special menu and were disappointed to learn that they weren't offering it because they didn't have the food items they were planning to serve. There were no substitute items and there was no attempt to call us before we arrived. Apparently, Toups management and staff do not make customer satisfaction a priority. We expressed our dissatisfaction to our waitress, got up from the table and left, and went to Revel Cafe where we had an excellent 3-course dinner from their Restaurant Week menu.

Great... meat. Delicious quail and flavorful (if inevitably fatty) lamb neck. We came on a bad night because while the place was half-empty our food (and everyone else’s) took forever to come out. Friendly waiter explained they were bogged down because one of the kitchen staff quit suddenly during the shift. But when I mentioned that sympathetically to the host/manager on duty she got huffy and said that was none of my concern. She did comp our drinks though!

Food was great. There were two tables that were being rude to wait staff and demanding that their food come out quicker. Our food ended up coming out too quick as we did 3 courses in less than an hour but the food was delicious, the service was attentive, and I really enjoyed it.

This place was beyond compare in every single way. If you're a tourist hop on the street car and get out of your zone. You will not regret it. Friendly staff. Garrett was my bartender and he mixed me some incredible drinks. The locals were friendly offering me off the path local places, talking with me, just being great people. The food was incredible, different, and one of the best meals I've had in years. Go. Go. Go.

We drove all the way from Texas to Baton Rouge for the weekend and we just couldn’t go back home without driving just another hour and a half to eat at Toups. It was all worth the drive and we’d do it all over again and we will. Soon.

We have been here a few times. The foie gras is very good, but the bread is too tough. The crab claws have good flavor, but the claws had very little meat. I guess the seasons change. The seafood couvillion sauce was fantastic, however the fish was not very tender. We have eaten the lamb neck in the past, and it was fantastic. The waiters were very friendly, but did not seem to know the menu well this time. We would like to have ordered dessert, but the waiter never came back, so we flagged another down to get our check. We have had some very good meals here in the past. The flavors are fantastic, but they need to step up the quality of the seafood. We will be back, no place is on all the time.

We enjoyed our experience at Toups. We plan to go back. That says it all. In a city with so many options we could try a new on every weekend and never get through them all. So, going back is a mark of approval! The wagu steak was great. We also tried the charcuterie plate and enjoyed it as well. Wide selection of wines and if you are into bourbon this is the place. So all in all great job!

The food is still good. However, the service is lacking. They were extremely understaffed during Friday lunch. Our waiter was overwhelmed and understandably not a very happy camper. The staff didn’t seem to work as a team to help alleviate problems. It made for a less than stellar experience.
