Need to book at 11:45 AM?Other great restaurants with availability.
We had high hopes for Toups, and it didn’t quite live up to our expectations. Some of the food was delicious, but the Ox tail entree lacked Salt. We brought an older bottle of white wine and the server destroyed the cork in a rush to open it. We asked for our dinner to be coursed our so we would have time to enjoy different wines with different courses but they sent food out way too quickly. The service staff were friendly and we had some great conversations with diners close to our table. In the end it was an enjoyable evening.
Always wonderful! Unexpected food combinations that are delicious.
Coming off a long night, we were in need of a really good brunch to finish off our last day in New Orleans. We shared their outstanding boudin balls, awesome cracklin, smoked salmon bites, and crab claws. We almost stopped there, it was all so good. From there, our group had a mix of their incredible burgers, solid hot fried quail, and the underrated roast beef bagel. C'est Bon!
Being from South Louisiana, but now living in Texas, this place reminds me of home and New Orleans every time. Make this a stop along any trip to New Orleans and you won't be let down.
We waited a long time for our order, the server was surly and inattentive. When our order finally came it was wrong, they quickly rectified it with the correct order but it was cold with burned inedible biscuits. VERY DISAPPOINTED, don't waste your time or money!
Food was fantastic, service was a bit wonky but the food made up for it. Price was higher then average but again, you get what you pay for and I definitely did not leave disappointed. The Pork chop was life changing and the meat board is a must for anyone coming in to Toups. I also had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Toups and he was an absolute gentleman!
Extremely delicious menu and very pleasant dining experience.
The oxtail and pork chop were amazing! We liked some of the meatery board options but some were too salty for our taste. The portions are very large!
Excellent Cajun country food off the beaten path. Boudin balls with a pickle plate was a wonderful appetizer, and entrees (Quail, seafood stew) were wonderful.
Venison and crab claws were great! Isaac Toups took the time to come say hello and take a picture with us.
Toups Meatery was excellent from start to finish. The staff was very personable & helpful. The food was excellent. We will go back many times!
Toups is my neighborhood restaurant. I walk over regularly, I’m always treated well, the food is absolutely delicious. The servers are friendly.
The food was terrific. We sat outside and the whole experience was great.
The Meatery board is outstanding and is highly recommended. Pork chop is large, and good, but is just a well-cooked pork chop atop some fairly average dirty rice. I’m a decent cook, but certainly no Beard award winning chef, and it’s pretty much the same as mine. So, my entree was perfectly fine, but nothing spectacular. The Toup’s Manhattan is good, but after one, and all the additional pork being eaten, the pork belly in it is overkill. Of course, everyone here came for meat, so why not? My wife’s venison was excellent. Service was solid and attentive throughout, and the server was knowledgeable about the ingredients and preparations.
The food was outstanding—highly recommend the crab claws and oxtail. Also the meat board was phenomenal. There was a small glitch with our order, hence not giving 5 stars across the board, but the servers responded very well to the hiccup. Would definitely return, ideally with a larger group so we could try more items next time!
I have eaten all over the world and gone to many Michelin starred restaurants, but this food experience was completely new for me. It's a meatery. It is about the meat and it did not disappoint. Order the Meatery Board appetizer. There were about 10 different applications of meat on there, each more interesting than the next. The portion sizes are HUGE. We loved it. We will return each time we visit New Orleans. Chef Isaac has a gem here. Don't miss it.
Was not impressed at all with Toups. The service was decent but they brought me the wrong cocktail. It took a while to make so I did not mention it or send it back. Service was slow, being that there was only one other person there at the time. Food was terrible. Oxtails were not seasoned well and had a slimy texture. Would not recommend.
The boudin balls were burnt and shrimp was overcooked. Also, the burger meat had a dark, bitter taste that was gross. It seems like you were missing items on your menu that were on your website. The service was extremely slow, taking over 30 minutes to come out with food. My soda water was never refilled, and your waiters were not very friendly. We were not impressed, especially since this was my birthday meal.
Wow - such great food and innovative cooking. Everything we had was delicious, blue crab, fried quail, oxtails - yum!!
Overall food was good but somewhat inconsistent. Biggest issue was lackadaisical service which if it had been on par with other restaurants in this price range would have made up for for kitchens errors.
This was our third time dining at Toups. We brought friends and everything was perfect. 🏯
The food was excellent and the drinks were delicious. The service was quite slow for not being very busy. I will definitely be back. Everybody has a bad day every now and then.
The main course meat dishes were absolutely divine! One of us had the venison, the other the double thick pork chop. Both were cooked to perfection, sauced lightly, and set on a bed of grains. The service and appetizers weren't as laud-worthy. The mixed greens salad was overdressed, the drinks arrived very late. We were originally seated at a tiny table squeezed into a corner between the kitchen and walkway, then we were moved to another room with a room of 10 very loud men who had just been seated. Finally, we were seated outside (our original request when booking). The meal was much more enjoyable there. And beware of the sloping floors, I slid right down on my way to the bathroom!
Everything we ordered was fantastic.
Considering you can eat at some really high end restaurants in New Orleans for cheaper, I thought the prices were a little high. Food was good and meatery board was a great start to the meal. Drinks were OK (had the Toups Manhattan & dirty martini). Overall it is a good meal, but there is better food for cheaper prices all over New Orleans.
It was a Tuesday night in New Orleans and the 6 of us were looking forward to Toups especially since it came recommeded. The food did not disappoint each of us ordered something different and everything was just as we hoped. Our biggest problem was the wait time, as I said it was a Tuesday night only 4 to 5 other tables occupied yet everything from getting our drinks to the very long wait for dinner took for ever. Our waiter did do his best by bringing us a second round of wine so that we had something to drink with our dinner. With all that once again the food was fabulous!!
Amazing food and friendly service. You must try the cracklings or the pork shop.
Incredible night, with such an amazing staff and chefs!
Thanks for everything. Was an amazing evening of delicious food and cocktails.
Thanks Chef Toups for stopping by our table to help celebrate our anniversary with a toast!
We love having brunch at Toups’ Meatery whenever we’re in New Orleans! We love the Meatery Board because of the different tastes of meats and accoutrements, and the menu offers something a little different than the typical New Orleans fare. I’m never disappointed with the service, and the food is consistently delicious every time.
We love Toup's Meatery. Happy to get to go and share a bunch of small plates. Just wish they had that great burger going at night. Still, a great time and great food as always.
Loved it!! Delicious!!
Toupes never disappoints. It is our go to restaurant when we have a chance for a night out. The food drinks and service is always great.
The food was great but it took such a long time for it to come out. The service as far as my waiter/bartender were awesome the issue was back on the kitchen. I would go back again and also recommend it because the food was very good and the prices are reasonable.
We came in for brunch on the last day of Restaurant Week. The service was excellent and personable, and the food was fantastic.
The food was to die for! So good that they were out of a few things we wanted to try. Also the kitchen was very accommodating regarding my allergies.
I was excited to see Toups Meatery participating in Restaurant Week. The specials, 3 courses & glass of wine, did not dissappoint. We tried the delicious scallops served over greens and actually drank the jus! Our waiter, Christopher, was very attentive & had our drinks & courses moving right along. Now I look forward to returning to experience the meats this place is famous for.
Service was very slow. We waited 30 min for our drinks, 1 hour for our food. Wagyu wasn’t real wagyu. Overall taste of food was mediocre.
I was excited to return to Toups after trying them for the first time about two years ago. My wife and I made a reservation during Restaurant Week, to take advantage of their prix fixe menu at a reduced price. When we were seated, we asked for the special menu and were disappointed to learn that they weren't offering it because they didn't have the food items they were planning to serve. There were no substitute items and there was no attempt to call us before we arrived. Apparently, Toups management and staff do not make customer satisfaction a priority. We expressed our dissatisfaction to our waitress, got up from the table and left, and went to Revel Cafe where we had an excellent 3-course dinner from their Restaurant Week menu.
Great... meat. Delicious quail and flavorful (if inevitably fatty) lamb neck. We came on a bad night because while the place was half-empty our food (and everyone else’s) took forever to come out. Friendly waiter explained they were bogged down because one of the kitchen staff quit suddenly during the shift. But when I mentioned that sympathetically to the host/manager on duty she got huffy and said that was none of my concern. She did comp our drinks though!
Food was great. There were two tables that were being rude to wait staff and demanding that their food come out quicker. Our food ended up coming out too quick as we did 3 courses in less than an hour but the food was delicious, the service was attentive, and I really enjoyed it.
