About Toula Restaurant
Toula is located in Toronto's Westin Harbour Castle Hotel. Its location, on the edge of Lake Ontario, presents a stunning view of the city and it's surroundings. The rich Italian fabrics, mirrored in the gold leaf ceiling, provide guests with the perfect setting to compliment any occasion. Toula has a well established reputation for using only the finest of ingredients. Of course, no menu would be complete without a wonderful selection of wines. General Manager Adriano Vicentini has been acquiring a substantial collection to compliment any dish. The main focus of our list has naturally fallen on Italian Reds, from the regions of Piedmonte and Tuscany. With a cellar consisting of over three hundreds labels, however, our ababundant range of flavours, from both Old and New World regions, will surely yield the perfect bottle to satisfy even the most discerning of palates.

Toula Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We’re always weary if an establishment does not specify it is welcoming to all. But other than the immediate first impression of the hosts’ face, we felt at home at Toula. Magalie (hope spelling is correct) is an exceptional server. Friendly, kind, proficient and spoke to us like we had been coming there for years, but new at the same time.
Thank you Magalie, your professional and congenial service was greatly appreciated.
It would have been helpful if we were told at the time of reserving that the elevator wouldn't be available till 5 minutes before our noon reservation. The server (Riley or Ryan...can't remember his name and he didn't have a name tag) was respectful of not interrupting our conversations, answered our questions to clarify ingredients, and made us feel welcome.
Nice views from the 38th floor. Service was polite and attentive. Noise level was not too high. We had selections from the Winterlicious menu, which had a good number of choices, and more than at some other restaurants. The crab cake appetizer was just ok. My friend liked the lobster bisque. The lamb shank, recommended by the server, was quite tender. The zuccotto semifreddo, also recommended at our request, was tasty and a relatively light dessert finish, although somehow a little different from what I expected, in size and appearance. This meal left me thinking that it is a good idea to go with the staff's choices. I would go again and try some other menu items.
I was very disappointed. It was our 3rd time there, and the only thing that we really enjoyed it's the view. The food was ok, except desert, it's looked horrible and taste the same. The service wasn't professional, as you would expect. When the waiter offered us some water, the chose was spring water or sparkle , but we said plain water, he brought us spring water in a bottle and he charged for it, out of 2 bottles by the end we paid for 1. We didn't really like the service in general but they charge you for the service 18% , the service that they provide does not cost that much. For me the food was as I would cook at home, nothing special really. We not gonna be back there anymore. Honestly nothing good except the view.
Food was delicious. Dessert on the sweet side. They gave us a table facing the buildings while almost all tables facing the waterfront were vacant so we asked for a switch to a table with a better view. We got moved to a table a little closer to the waterfront view (like, we got an angle of it). We were told those better tables were “booked”, but at the end of our 1.5-hour meal, those tables were not filled at all. So we were a bit upset about it.
Very outdated, no charm whatsoever, not a nice atmosphere to be in, the only good thing is the view. We went for winterlicious because it had many vegetarian options, but it turned out that it was the worst ravioli I have ever had anywhere...they were dried, with no sauce, sprinkled with poppy seeds (really?), undercooked some sections, overcooked other sections and guess what: there were THREE only...you would guess that for one of the restaurants of the Westin downtown Toronto they would have great food, or at least decent...and that for an "Italian" restaurant they would serve a proper tiramisu right, but nope, Metro's supermarket tiramisu is way better, and thanks for the ice cream that you insisted in calling gelato somehow...
During our reservation we made it clear that we were celebrating our wedding Anniversary and looking for a table with a great view. Upon our arrival at the restaurant, we noticed that the table didnt had the view we expected and our waiter didn't even congratulated us. Food was rushed to our table and cocktails didn't meet our expectations. We been to Toula on many occasions and this was the worst experiences thus far.
Our server Sabbir was not good, basically attitude from the beginning already no smile on his face and he didn’t give us any bread at all while other table’s server has. The view was great however we are really unhappy with the service provided during the winterlicious dinner. I will not recommend this restaurant to any friend. My friend’s sirloin steak wasn’t even one piece and was cut into 2 slices combined together.
We had a great time at Winterlicious here on Feb 3, 2018. We tried the cheese plate, crab cakes, hen, gnocci, ricotta cheesecase and tiramisu. The view is phenomenal and the service is amazing. Riley McGee was our server and besides from being very friendly, he made great recommendations on what to try. We look forward to coming back again :-)
We booked an evening out for Winterlicious. The service at Toula is outstanding. The view is amazing. But we will not return. The portions were ridiculously small / reduced. I am not sure if this is due to the Winterlicious menu and if this is the case it is not a way to encourage repeat business. We started our Winterlicious experience with a salad. The salad portion seemed reasonable. The dinner portion and dessert portion was sad. I had a flattened cornish hen and my boyfriend had a steak. There was a smear of potato under my cornish hen with 3 green beans, a few chucks of red pepper & 2 strips of carrot. My boyfriend had the exact same smear of potato under his steak with the same non-existent vegetables. I asked if my dessert could be fruit and this substitution was made. I am thankful for this. My boyfriend's dessert was 2" square of Cheesecake. I shared some of my berries with him. Our bill with 2 glasses of wine and tip was $161.14. We do not mind paying for a great night out but this was an over priced evening with small portions!
Did not expect such a fabulous view! We were celebrating our anniversary and enjoyed their Winterlicous menu. Our waiter (Riley M.) was fantastic : he was knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. Could not have asked for better service on our special occasion. Would definitely come back.
The experience did not start well. The woman that was supposed to seat us was not at her station and showed up with a mouthful of food. Seemed confused where to seat us. Once seated everything was better. Our server was amazing. The Cornish hen was a bit dry.
I took advantage of winterlicious and went to Toula, but I was very disappointed with the food. My husband ordered the lobster bisque for an appetizer and it tasted like something out a can, did not taste like bisque. I ordered the crab cake and it was horrible, dry, tasteless and cold.
Then the main course I ordered the beef tenderloin medium rare, and I got it almost medium well. Server didn't come by to check up on us so I could tell her. I ate the food. The desserts were really good.
Overall I think the food is overrated..
Did not enjoy the food at all.
But the view was beautiful!!
We went for dinner at Toula for winterliscious, the view is gorgeous but the food was meh at best. Our server was polite, but the dinner felt rushed and lacked taste. I had to ask for pepper to try and give my soup taste. My lamb was served in copious amounts of oil, no sign of lobster in my lobster bisque and the desert was not memorable. The cost of dinner was expensive. Nice view but eat elsewhere.
Timely seating and super fast service for Winterlicious. Outstanding view and ambiance. As Toronto's #3 restaurant; culinary expectation were high, but not met. The salmon carpaccio was a delight, whereas the lobster bisque was disappointing, the braised lamb was good and the sea bass was dry. Saffron/Milanese risotto was on both dishes, execution was acceptable as a side, but would not stand on its own as a primo/entre. Deserts were very good, but not outstanding. The overall review is "good", only because a better job was expected from such a fine and reputable kitchen.
Winterlicous was a noticeably efficient menu. While lightning quick service is an efficiency benefit, some foods are better off prepare a minuto; fish and risotto's are worth the wait to be made to order.
This was Winterlicious ...great evening with friends. Our server Riley was fantastic and easily accommodated our requests. I didn't like the mushroom tower a bit too soupy and flavourless, but my lamb shank & dessert of semifreddo was delicious .
My only complaint that for our table of 5, our dishes did not get served at the same time. 4 main courses were served but we had to wait 5 mi Utes for the 5th to come out. However, the service was otherwise excellent. Good view of downtown Toronto too.
Occasion was Winterlicious lunch with colleagues. Large table - about 14 of us.
1) Food tasted great and was well presented.
2) The view is spectacular.
1) Portions were small (tends to be this way across Winterlicious participants - so I wasn't totally surprised).
2) THEY CHARGE FOR WATER. It's a bit of a scam. They ask "would you like flat or sparkling water". I answered flat, assuming tap. But no, this is bottled water and with it comes a $5.50 charge on your bill. NOT COOL.
3) Service was slow.
4) Decor is dated.
The overall experience was good. The food and service was good. The bargain is doing, some of the stall shops will not close. The hallway and stair will carpet us run down and smelly. Although the dogs is not cooked in the bathroom, it does speak a lot about an establishment. Depending on where if the restaurant you sit the view i great (restaurant no longer revolves)
We went during Winterlicious. 2 of the appetizers came cold but my friends did not complain. Then, the 2 plates of ravioli were also child and had to be sent back to the kitchen. The rice in my rissotto was totally overcooked. The food was not impressive in any way, nor was the service. The view however is spectacular
OMG my wife and I absolutely loved every part of our dinner!! The view of Toronto’s waterfront was peaceful from up there!
The service was top notch my wife ordered a drink from the bar menu and unfortunately didn’t like it asked for a simple coke.
Although it was obvious to our waiter that she didn’t like it ..... no words were exchanged simply replaced the drink with her coke and when we got our bill it was not in the bill (class act 110%) thank You and YES we will be back soon!
The elevator up is gorgeous with glass windows. The restaurant looks a little downscale with cheap plastic chairs. When I asked to sit in a specific part of the dining room, they said no because it isn’t busy enough. However, a few moments later I saw another couple sat in that section. As soon as I sat down, the host spilled water on my iPhone. Despite being Vegan, they brought my dish with cheese - this was told repeatedly, and i was sure to add it to my reservation. When I pointed out there was cheese, the waiter argued and said it wasn’t. After pointing to it, he denied it again. Then, gave up. Later, another waiter came to apologize. On top of that, the waiters constantly dropped things from the table, from salt a pepper shakers, to cutlery and food.
I was surprised that this was supposed to be a high end restaurant... I think they need a little bit of re training.
