About Toula Restaurant

Toula is located in Toronto's Westin Harbour Castle Hotel. Its location, on the edge of Lake Ontario, presents a stunning view of the city and it's surroundings. The rich Italian fabrics, mirrored in the gold leaf ceiling, provide guests with the perfect setting to compliment any occasion. Toula has a well established reputation for using only the finest of ingredients. Of course, no menu would be complete without a wonderful selection of wines. General Manager Adriano Vicentini has been acquiring a substantial collection to compliment any dish. The main focus of our list has naturally fallen on Italian Reds, from the regions of Piedmonte and Tuscany. With a cellar consisting of over three hundreds labels, however, our ababundant range of flavours, from both Old and New World regions, will surely yield the perfect bottle to satisfy even the most discerning of palates.

We stayed at the hotel, chose Toula for the convenience. Weather was terrible, so was the view. Not their fault. Very expensive. Entrees were $40 and up. My husband had the steak. It was cooked to perfection. I had the pork tenderloin. it was overcooked. Crispy on the outside like it had been sitting under the hear lamps for a long time.

Extremely slow and unknowledgeable service! When asked any question about the menu our waiter would say I don't know and then it would be another 5-10 minutes before he would return with a limited answer. The menu was very plain and boring. We had one person in our party that was gluten sensitive and the waiter was not very helpful with his assistance--basically stating "i think there's GF pasta" but never offered to verify. One person at the table requested plain spaghetti pasta instead of gnocchi and he said they were unable to customize the dish. WHAT?? very weird! Just put the same sauce on pasta instead of gnocchi! It appeared that he was overwhelmed most of the time. We had the charcuterie which didn't taste fresh, gnocchi, salmon, ravioli all of which were lacking in flavor.
Dated interior, almost empty restaurant at 7pm, subpar menu and service. I won't return even if the views are amazing!

Horrible service. We reserved a table in advance and were given a horrible spot. The service was horrible. No one checked on us or asked if we needed anything else. Somehow the waiter found it appropriate to give me the bill before I even asked for it. The food was not enjoyable for me as well, but that might have something to do with the bad service. I will not recommend to anyone. I have told my friends about my unpleasant experience. I will not be coming back.

Celebrated a milestone birthday lunch with a group of approximately a dozen people. We enjoyed the spectacular view of the lake and Toronto Island on a beautiful clear, sunny day. The service was excellent, ensuring everyone was more than satisfied with their order. The meals were delicious and were enjoyed in a relaxed atmosphere.
Kudos to Toula Restaurant for making our special occasion truly special.

The food was very good complimented by a stunning view. The service however was below par - curt, almost to the point of being unfriendly, and pushy. Nevertheless a pleasant evening.

Great view but restaurant is very run down and could use to be redone. The service was slow, and the food wasn't very good. Could be a great place if an overhaul was done with its location, but I would not go back or recommend it unless that were to happen.

That was the worst experience I've ever had.
The booking of the table and choice of a set menu was painful. I didn't hear back from the restaurant staff for over a month, they wouldn't return my phone calls or emails and when they did they sent the wrong contract.
Service was awful, very slow and the food was just disgusting. The salads were swimming in dressing and nothing was fresh. Bread was hard and the olive oil was horrible!
One of our guests ordered hen and it came uncooked. Pasta was terrible, some were hard and other were too soft.

The price is outrageous and quality terrible.

Before recommending Toula I'd recommend even McDonalds.

Service was extremely slow - we were dining with a Travelzoo voucher and our meal had 4 courses. It took half an hour to even place our food order - and then the service was very slow bringing out the food. Food was ok but not fantastic. I do not feel it was worth what the full value of the voucher would have been. The view was amazing .

This was our second visit to Toula and the food was very good again. .....the only component that saved the night. We had picked this restaurant for the food but also for the view and the service we had experienced before. We were entertaining friends from the UK and wanted a special dinner out......that was not the full outcome.

They have changed their chairs to a clear acrylic and they did not give off the right vibe...too casual. The space itself looked sparse and almost like they were in the middle of establishing a new look and weren't quite there yet.

The service was very inconsistent. We placed our drink order and they did not arrive until after our food order was taken and the appetizers arrived......bad timing. When the mains were delivered....one was delivered almost 10 minutes after the first three. We were actually just about to go and ask about it when it finally arrived. We had to ask for wine rather than having a follow-up inquiry about beverages.

Will not go back and would not recommend even though the food was still very good.

Food was excellent and service was quite good. However the washroom was two flights of stairs down, unless you wanted to take the elevator to the ground floor. "tired" would be a kind word for the washroom. The whole place seemed dated ...

This restaurant is so-so, the food is ok but you are paying basically for the views which are impressive. One person in the group had risotto and found it to be quite salty. The others in the group found their dishes to be reasonable, but nothing to "write home about".

We had a reservation at 7:30, we got out table at 8:15. The service was slow. We had to ask them to open the light, if not we would be eating in the dark. Salmon was overcooked & there was suppose to have truffles in the meal which obviously didn't have any. My tiramisu was salty. My companion ordered gelato and we got normal ice cream instead... Waiter said gelato is italien term for ice cream which isn't... The only plus i'd give this place is the view of Toronto!

We had family in from out of town and to provide them an excellent view of the skyline (which is a MUST see) while in Toronto, we took them to Toula. We are frequent diners of this exquisite restaurant mainly for their views and lengthy wine list. Anyways, while our "out of towners" were in town, we treated them to one of our favorite spots! There were 3 children and 8 adults total. Of course we made a reservation, but we were promptly seated and service was great! The children enjoyed their standard spaghetti and meatballs (one opted for the alfredo) while the adults dove a little further into the authentic menu. We topped it up with 1 of EACH of their desserts and passed them round the table for all to enjoy. Thank you Toula for a magnificent evening with our family, and see you soon!

Me and my sister took our parents to Toula for a dinner to celebrate our Parents 50th Anniversary on Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017. We came in around 7pm: The reception girl did not know how the restaurant name translates to English. But then our waiter explained it. The food tasted great, just the portions were a bit small, but we had a TravelZoo voucher, so that might explain it.
They brought out a small pastry with a candle and took time to write 'Happy Anniversary!' on the plate!

We really thankful to the stuff for making our dinner special.

We happened to be staying at the hotel, so my wife and I decided to try Toula for dinner, but I am quite disappointed. As luck had it, there was a group (convention) dinner that took up half of the restaurant (the good half) and we were left on the other side (the east side). Because the whole restaurant is an open circle, we couldn't escape the noise. The ambiance felt like a pub or a school cafeteria, not an expensive restaurant. The food was good but terribly overpriced, and the wine list was unimpressive (and they were out of our first choice!). The view was great and the waiter tried hard, but it didn't make up for the rest. Definitely not worth the $200 we paid for dinner. I won't be going back again.

Horrible experience. Reservation for special occasion was completely ruined and in the end had to find another place to dine. There was an extremely large and exceedingly loud networking event happening between 7pm and 9pm - prime time for dining. The networking area was not closed off and the noise was deafening to the point that it was impossible to even read the menu our hear ourselves think. Not to mentioned human to human communication was impossible.

Everything about our experience was horrible.
-We cocktail was so undrinkable that we sent it back.
-The bread was at least a day if not more old. The oil and vinegar set was almost empty. The salt and pepper shakers were empty and were not used before (not a trace of salt and pepper in them). The olive oil was so bad that was like a cooking oil.
- le Caprese was a nightmare, tomato was cut several hours ago so it was soggy, the mozzarella cheese was hard and low quality with a big leaf of Basil, very sad version of this common appetizer.
- the Bellini salad had no dressing so we ordered dressing, had 3 times red cabbage than any other ingredients, no fresh parsley or Basil.
- the worse experience was the Branzino, wasn't a Mediterranean Sea Bass, was a trout (unless in this place they call trout sea bass!!!. The fish was steamed then was given grill marks with a very unpleasant to the eyes brown sauce. The steamed vegetables were another insult, they steamed carrots, broccolis and several others all the same time so you can imagine broccoli and zucchini were very soft and carrots were so hard that were not eatable. The risotto was over cooked and tasteless.

Should I say more... we only stayed because of the server who continued apologizing and being very nice.
Don't waste your money or time going there, it's an insult all cooks and chefs.

We found that the food was overpriced for the volume we received, and the dishes were uninspired. Three shrimp on top of a few sprigs of romaine and a dollop of pinkish horseradish-flavoured mayonnaise do not a shrimp cocktail make. As well, the service was both harried and sluggish. It's clear the restaurant was busy, this being the penultimate night of Summerlicious, but we had to ask for certain items multiple times before they arrived (an espresso, for example, never did). One food runner behaved oddly, insisting on placing a plate on the table when one of us tried to take it from him, intending to be helpful. He also chastised one of our party for using a butter knife on a steak, but hadn't given him a steak knife yet, which was perplexing. Among the other dishes ordered were sea bass, which arrived with some pesto instead of the green citrus advertised, and atop a small amount of oddly liquid risotto and a single asparagus spear. The tagliatelle with Ontario lamb ragu was good, though hardly outstanding. The salmon carpaccio was also more than fair. Unfortunately, the same couldn't be said for desserts- the ricotta cheesecake was dry as a bone, and the tiramisu was something I'd expect to buy marked down 50% off at Metro. Both desserts were plated with "raspberry coulis", which was in reality a smear of room temperature raspberry cream, which had the flavour and consistency of a melted store-brand popsicle. All in all, Toula was the classic experience of an old-school Italian fine dining hall (the place can seat hundreds) with pretensions to greatness that it is far from realizing.

I was disappointed by my experience this time. I mentioned it was an anniversary and made reservations and we didn't even get a table by the window. Even if we did, where we were sitting was facing a parking lot. Instead, we got crammed into a table that they made up for the sake of adding more seats for Summerlicious (I assume). We were too close to people and there was no sense of privacy. I ordered a crab and avocado tower for appetizer and it just didn't go well together. The main course was rather small with no creativity. My partner ordered a Tiramisu but the ladyfingers were soaked in espresso and the cheese was not whipped well causing the whole thing to be soggy and unappetizing. We had to ask for water refills instead of waiters being observant. It did not feel romantic as I imagined it would have been.
