Great food and service and views of the Toronto harbour and islands. This location is the best place to see our beautiful Lake Ontario and the Toronto Islands & BB Airport.
It’s was amazing, the restaurant have a beautifuk view! And the price are okay
We booked early 5:30pm on a Tuesday evening, we were going to a play at the Elgin theatre that night in Toronto “Come from Away”(great play).
We were seated by the floor to ceiling windows to enjoy a great view of the Toronto waterfront and skyline from the 38th floor. All tables would get to enjoy a great view even if not by the windows.
Our server was very attentive as were the other helpers to make sure we had everything we asked for.
Kathy and I each chose different appetizers and entrees so we could enjoy tasting different dishes. All were delicious.
We both selected a prix fix menu including your choice of appetizer, entree, and their choice of desert which was also very good.
I will be back to this 38th floor restaurant high in the Harbour Castle Hotel in Toronto 😃.
Decent food but quite over-priced, especially given the service. Our server seemed to know nothing about the menu, was unresponsive to questions, and generally was quite curt and uncommunicative.
Nice view over the harbour district
We got there and it looks like they were having a conference group meeting going on or something like that. This was me and my girlfriend anniversary and going off of pictures I really wanted to take her to the spot because of the view number one. We got there no one was standing at the door then the waitress or a bartender whoever he was came got us took us to a table. We ask for a different spot and got a no because the other side is under construction . So we were forced to sit wherever he put us to sit . As we were there going through the menu, the menu is super small, not much options and we feel like we were being judged because everyone eyes were on us 👎🏾 Maybe it was just that day and they had a older audience there, but we felt super uncomfortable. Ended up leaving, did not eat, went to a different restaurant, but I have to see the view is very beautiful and you get two thumbs up for that
Great views and nice location. Service doesn’t really match the high quality setting expected from this type of fine dining.
Lovely views, nice staff, and good food. Given the focus on the views I assumed the food would suffer, but was pleased by the quality and presentation. It was quiet and not crowded. My biggest and only complaint was that everything was super expensive, especially the wine.
was the perfect time to reserve as my husband n I had the whole restaurant to ourselves. The waitress was superb n the food was delicious as always
The food and the service was outstanding..... However, for a restaurant in a branded property as such, the place looked very very dated and badly in need of a renovation..... They even had those plastic see through banquet chairs for the place....
Celebrated a milestone birthday.
The waiter was very helpful and the food was excellent - kudos to the chef !
Unfortunate that more people don’t visit this hidden gem - the view was very nice.
Nice place to visit. Starting to show it’s age. Many better places in area to choose rather than this one that are better. I had Filet for my main. Was tough and tasted old and thought I might get sick. My appetizer was good but had same sauce as was used on my fiancé’s main lobster pasta. Staff was hit and miss. Some good and some not so good. Plates not cleared from appi before main was brought to table. As always view was good ..
Very substandard food
Now understand why a great location had only 3 tables occupied
Good. Waiter was really nice and food was good. Cost a bit much for quantity but quality and view was awesome
The only good thing about the restaurant was the view and how understanding the staff was. We made a dinner reservation and arrived to restaurant that was super quiet and no background music. There was only two other tables occupied at that time. Everything went downhill after, the menu looks like it was printed at home and was half ripped, the chairs were super uncomfortable, vegetarian options were hardly visible. The overall ambiance made me feel like I was sitting in a poorly maintained restaurant. They have the potential to compete with the cn tower with killer views, but its just saddening to see the place look like it's run down. They need to do alot of remodeling and rebranding. I really hope they can take this criticism and realise they have such great potential if they work on their menu and the overall look of the restaurant. Staff however was amazing.
The chairs were plastic patio furniture. The food was good but everything is outrageously priced. 2 people, one salad, 2 entrees 1 bottle of wine=$230
There are many options that deliver more for that price.
Scenic views are a nice and possibly the only advantage, mediocre food for $$$ price point, super nasty outdated restrooms, service was haphazard at best.
Not worth it. Everything was mediocre. Save your money. Only thing really is the view but that is not worth how much it costs.
Their not good thing was the view, food was crap, was served bacon when I clearly told them I can't have any meat except seafood. Bill had gratuity added on that time should have challenge but didn't have a heart to due to my date with me.
Pretty good overally speaking. A little disorganization with the servers, but nothing to make it a bad experience.
Food was amazing, and an amazing view.
Beautiful view and main course but the appetizer and dessert included in the Winterlicious menu were mediocre at best.
Awesome ambiance and great location with spectacular view of downtown.
overall it was a good experience, food was great. The only thing I did not like is that they automatically put in the tip with my total bill.
Service and value
Only improvement is to have a washroom on the same floor so don’t have to take stairs
I rushed us to our 11:30 reservation, apologized for being 15 minutes late only to be told it was a 12:00 pm reservation. Probably explained why nobody else was there. Perhaps not. When we left at 1:15 there were only about 7 tables occupied, all but one couples. Our server confirmed it was a very slow day. Hopefully that wasn’t the only reason service was excellent. As was the food. As was the view - southwest overlooking the harbour and the Billy Bishop airport. I had a direct view of the towers to the northwest and the window frame right beside our table. We could have asked for another table (obviously) but it blocked the sun from shining directly in my wife’s eyes. So we stayed put. Another couple that arrived later were seated further north and asked for another table. They were seated in a lower area facing south. It pays to ask, if you’re unhappy with your seat and there are lots of tables available. The daily soup was a wonderful cream of mushroom- mushroomy and filling. The Calamari "Cinqueterre" wasn’t the breaded, deep-fried rings of rubbery calamari I expected, but whole firm calamari with accompaniments. A change from the original shrimp appetizer I was looking forward to. The calamari was good but not as good as the shrimp appetizer was described. It pays to check if there are any changes to the menu. Both entrees were excellent. The Stone Pressed Grilled Cornish Hen was flat (no surprise), boneless except for the thigh (surprise) with a crispy brown skin (surprise). The risotto was fragrant and saturated with mushroom flavor. We took the leftover risotto home and had it for dinner. The dessert was different than advertised online: 2 bite tastings of the 3. Just enough if you don’t have a sweet tooth. Beware: a 20% gratuity is automatically added to the total (before taxes) and the wine is atrociously expensive by the glass ($22-$30). We shared a single Malbec at $25. I noticed no one else ordered alcohol. All told, a great experience.
Our server was excellent. Paid attention top our needs without being intrusive.
Beautiful restaurant; horrible food. Not worth the views.
environment good and also service good
Although the food and wine was delicious (we enjoyed the Winterlicious menu) unfortunately the service was below average. Our server was clearly too busy or brand new. He completely forgot we ordered a bottle of wine until we reminded him once our second course hit the table. He barely stopped by the table and we ended up receiving most of our service from another server by the end of the meal. Our server was kind and apologetic for the most part and we figured he was just too busy to take care of us. For the amount of money we spent, we expected attentive service at the least. Other than that, the food came quickly and the other staff tending to our table were excellent.
Food was excellent. I had the shrimp appetizer and the Cornish hen from the winterlious menu. It was very good.
The wine however was very pricey.
It was our first time at Toula and it was for dinner to try the winterlicious menu. The view from the 38th floor was nice. Unfortunately the place is in need of some updates. The interior of the restaurant has not been kept up. There were panels on the side near our table that had fallen off and cupboards missing on your way to the washroom. The washrooms are located on a lower floor and you have to take stairs to get there. It is also out of date. It was disappointing as well that they weren't serving cocktails as there was no bartender available to make the drinks. We assumed that wouldn't be an issue at a place like this. The dinner was $43 per person but I don't think it was worth it. We have tried out numerous restaurants for summerlicious and winterlicious and the food was ok at best. Good presentation but taste wasn't on point unfortunately. It was also quite pricey to park by this venue and with that included, we would not return here again even just for the view.
What a disappointment. I had been to Toula years prior and thought Winterlicious would be a great opportunity to visit again with my partner. I was embarrassed as I had built up the restaurant and none of my expectations held up. I'm not sure if these problems exist with the regular menu, but we chose to do the prix fixe. Besides the tiny portion sizes (the shrimp appetizer consisted of 2 average-sized shrimp on a tablespoon of bland, black japonica rice), the quality of the food was incredibly lacking. It was obvious that they were trying to turn over as many tables as possible, as the food came out unnervingly quickly and underprepared. The crab ravioli tasted frozen if anything, and came submerged in a puddle of oil. The lamb my partner order was served beyond rare, but at least seemed closer in value to what we were paying. The dessert was a joke. Arguably the least important part of a prix-fixe, we were each given a square inch of cheesecake and tiramisu, a tablespoon of panna cotta, and a single blueberry, gooseberry and strawberry. I felt ripped off, as they've clearly dropped any semblance of standards in favour of a huge margin during Winterlicious. The only positive would have to be the Winterlicious special Chianti, one of the only bottles priced under $80, which was really beautiful and the only actual flavour I experienced the entire night. Overall I left frustrated, and regretted not just going to the Mr. Pizza around the corner instead.
The staff were very atttentive and helpful but we found the food to be lacking in flavour. This started with the bread/oil , the appetizers were better but the main course again lacked taste. The dessert trios were the highlight of the meal!-perfect size and assortment.
Went there for Winterlicious with 2 friends. The quality of the food was not at the level of the place. Way too expensive for what we had. Chicken ragatoni, but impossible to see or taste the chicken. Mushroom risoto, impossible to taste the truffle, and my friend had to add an inportant amount of salt... Lobster raviolis... bathing in oil!!! Impossible to taste de lobter or what was in the ravioli. Paying almost $60/pers for this was crazy, but it was a lesson!!
Delish food! Amazing experience 🙂
We had a reservation and asked for a great table, it was a birthday lunch, but we were seated in second row. When we asked how long until a window seat was available, they said 1hour. With a reservation, you expect to have your requests met.. they didn’t seem to care that we were disappointed.
The salad was bland, and the salmon was dry and flakey.
Too bad, we were excited for a nice view and fun winterlicous menu!
We’ll try a brunch sometime and call about the tabling booking rather than rely on the request that was put through electronically.
Went for winterlicious dinner with friends and our service was horrible. Don't think I'll choose to go to Toula for Winterlicious again.
I won't be visiting Toula again. The staff was not friendly. Everyone looked extreamly displeased to be there.
Regret going to this restaurant. The service and the food were terrible. The plates, cutleries, napkins....everything was dirty and old. The floor was so dusty but the peaple work there didn’t seem to care.
I just wasted my time and money.
One of the most unpleasant experience at a restaurant. So sad.
The food is just not that great for the price - even if it’s not the winterlicious menu. Sorry - we wanted to like everything but it was really lacking.
