Touch of Italy - Rehoboth Beach Delaware Ratings and Reviews
We eat here often. And loved it. This trip was a bit dissapointing. The service was slower than usual. And we had to ask for bread rather than the way they used to bring it to you automatically. Things have gone down a bit and prices raised. I had the chicken with cheese over spinach and it was extremely thin and curled and over done on the ends. Not wonderful. Other entrees were better. I know they have a new management company and I think they’re cutting corners which is too bad. This was a place we loved and not so sure in the future. Too bad.
Good Deli - Not So Good Restaurant
Very popular place that takes reservations - rare in Rehoboth. The Good News - Great beers on tap. Very tasty salads. Calamari was quite good. Servers are very good. Deli has excellent cheeses. The Bad News - We recently went for the Monday Night Special of Chicken Parmesan and it was really not worth the money - unless you are mainly interested in getting a big serving of flattened, dry, tasteless chicken breast topped with Muenster Cheese (instead of mozzarella). And the side of pasta was not much better.
Frequent your restaurant quite often- have noticed that the Chicken and Eggplant Parm dishes are very dry lately- almost over cooked. Will not order the Chicken again, even on your special night- it was a little tough. I also prefer mozzarella to muenster cheese.
One other suggestion- your bar appetizer menu is much more selective than the table menu. We actually ordered a pizza as an appetizer when we were told we had to sit at the bar- seems a bit inconvenient.
We always enjoy our meals at Touch of Italy. Service is sometimes a bit slow but we are usually not in a rush. Friendly staff. They take a limited amount of reservations and recommend that on weekends and summer high season. Happy hour at the bar is also a good deal and fun evening. Service is sometimes a bit slow but we are not usually in a rush.
The food is great and not the issue.
A miscommunication led to a fumble by the waiter.
All it took was for the manager to go into the kitchen and ask for the item and bring it out. That is how it is done in other quality dining. Other tables who sat down after us received the food I was waiting for and were done before our dinner course came out???
I think that the manager need to recognize when there is an issue and not respond with generic responses as if they are not listening to the person at the table.
Taking a charge off the bill for an item never received? The item should of been delivered and no charge on the bill after a 40 minute wait. How could they turn this around for the customer's experience? We received a discounted bill but it was not what we were looking for.
We never were even given water at our table. Where was the waiter's head? At the table with the champagne and wine bottles popping?
It was unfortunate situation for us in the beginning. After our orders were placed, we waited for our salads for about 25 to 30 minutes. We saw other tables got their food, which we were there first. Although it was disruptive, the overall dining experience was good.
We had eaten here several times prior to this recent visit and always enjoyed it, but this time was different. Gnocci was dry and pasty, bucatini special with alfredo sauce was bland, chicken parm was so-so. The worst was that my husband and I split a nice portion of caesar salad which tasted ok but the lettuce was brown in spots and we BOTH woke up at 2 AM searching for antacids after both of our stomachs were rumbling since about 11 PM and we both had severe gas and continuous BURPING! Neither of us EVER have problems like this. Guess it was the salad which was the only thing we both had. Anyway, I really don't think we will be rushing back. I'm disappointed since we live close by and it was always a good spot to go. Too many issues this time, not just one. Not that tasty anymore. Our server was pleasant and helpful.
We enjoy dining here whenever we visit Rehoboth Beach and the food has always been outstanding. On this visit, my friend and I shared a Mista Salad...the spring mix with sliced strawberries, candied walnuts, and sweet, but tangy dressing is my favorite. We also shared an Eggplant Parmesan appetizer and a Meatball Hero...both were rich, flavorful, and cheesy AND we had leftovers for the next day! We were very pleased with our server, Gerald, who was friendly and attentive. The restaurant is always lively and busy, so I'd suggest making a reservation. Before you leave, check out the assortment of Italian cookies and pastries, and take some home to enjoy later!
The food was delicious here, everything else was lacking. Service was poor, waitress never came to check on us and we had to flag her down for more water and even the bill. The atmosphere was cute but there is a deli inside as well with tables next to it killing a bit of the charm. The food however was amazing large portions and great taste. We had chicken parm and chicken al Taleggio. If you can get a table away from the deli and a different waitress you will enjoy this place. Make sure to make a reservation as well!
This place is a dependable standby in Rehoboth AND they take reservations - which is a rarity in the area and brings us back every year when we're in town. The pasta is very good and the atmosphere is fun and friendly. This time we ordered the Sunday Dinner, which could have easily fed six people. Three of us shared it for dinner and then we had almost an entire meal of it again the next evening. I was also delighted they had a gluten-free pasta option for the member of our family who is newly gluten-free. I wish the wine list was a little better - but all things considered, I'm happy to keep returning here!
Had excellent server, Anthony. Managers walking around and helping here and there and a crowded Saturday night was refreshing! Several stopped by and asked if we needed anything. Filling meals. Grabbed some great desserts for later at home. Overall great night! Only flaw was veal parm a little overdone but rest of meals were very good.
Was disappointed that we ordered pizzas and they dropped a piece of one of them on the floor, they did offer to cook an entire new one which we declined as we were not planning on eating the whole thing anyway. We asked for a glass of wine and thought they would make that glass complimentary but they didn't.. they also charged full price fir the pizza and cent though there was a piece missing. Have been here lots before and this is the only disappointing trip
Excellent dinner and also went to the Lewes location for lunch. We ended up showing up nearly an hour early for our reservation which was no problem for them. They seated us right away. The food is really delicious and authentic. My husband's chicken parm was amazing. My pasta was good too but I kept stealing some of the chicken parm from him! It gets a bit noisy but what do you expect. Overall we had a nice meal and will return.
