Touch of Italy - Ocean City Ratings and Reviews
The Italian deli area looked amazing upon walking in. Disappointed in the hostess reception we received. Not 1 word, she did not speak 1 word to us. She seemed aggravated to the point that I thought maybe something happened and she just couldn't muster up a smile let alone a greeting. We've all had bad days so I brushed it off but the husband and I both agreed it made us feel awkward. Waitress was helpful and friendly. Management was also helpful and friendly. Gave us his card so we could order an entire sheet of the dessert we had.
We ate here this past August and the food was definitely worth a return visit. This time we requested a table in the quieter room which helped make the experience even better. Our server Tony was terrific and made our dining experience even better. The calamari appetizer was crisp and delicious. The fra diablo sauce that comes with it was delicious. We both ordered pizzas which were yummy and sufficient for another meal. Will definitely keep this on our must eat here list when we’re in OC.
Compared to its other locations in Rehoboth and Lewes, this spot falls short both in service and ambiance but the food is still good. Waiter was indifferent and somewhat cynical when we attempted to connect on a personal level. Furniture seemed to be aging and not kept up. Busy place but no personality unless you like being ignored. We won't come back.
The food here was amazing. Truly authentic Italian. The one thing that seriously lacked for us was the service. We went on a Saturday night. They just seemed severely understaffed. I'm going to assume that it is because it is one of the first weekends of the off-season in OCMD and they are still trying to figure it out. Our food came out hot and we weren't in a huge hurry, so it ended up not being a huge deal for us. The server was apologetic and visibly stressed about our waiting.
Touch of Italy never disappoints! Great food, excellent wine list, generous portions, and desserts like Nonna used to make! Those greeting us were warm and welcoming, and our waiter Nick couldn't have been more attentive and accommodating.. Looking forward to our next visit.
The family and I look forward to going every time we are in Ocean City for vacation. The food is always outstanding. Service is great. Peter the owner is so gracious and hospitable. He is constantly visiting tables and caring for his guests. My 2 yr old wanted pasta and meatballs for dinner and it wasn't offered on the kids menu and they happily accommodated.
One of the best restaurants in Ocean City in my opinion. I vacation there 2 times per year and despite all the hype for seafood in Ocean City few places offer the service and real hospitality that Touch of Italy offers.
We had decided to visit this restaurant because of previous visits which we enjoyed.
The specialty dinner that we enjoyed numerous times ( Nona's Sinder Dinner) was not the usual dish that we had been served on prior visits. It also was under cooked. We will probably return at some point but won't order our usual.
3rd try: First 2 were canceled out! I always have our 'special occasion' dinners at your restaurant. Each time we look forward to the next. However, our 8 dinners were less than standard. The 2 pesto dishes were 'lack luster' not like previous. I had the 'zesty' marinara sauce with shrimp, clams, mussels and calamari. Well it wasn't zesty at all, the portion was much smaller than all previous and there was absolutely NO calamari! When I brought it to the servers attention, she went to the kitchen to find out why not. She came back and advised me 'they forgot to put it in'! [They did give me a very little portion to take home.] Also it was noticed by my party tht the staff was a step down from all previous visits. I don't ever hassle about the prices, and am a good tipper, but expect the best. I was told there are 4 preparers, [cooks] in the kitchen. I presume I didn't get a good one this time. I did mention this to the 'in charge' person, Peter Scioli and he apologized and gave me his card to call him for my next visit.
YES, I will be back soon and hope things are better,
Thank you for listening!
Service was poor due to lack of attention to detail.
Had to ask for water refills each time
Had to ask for extra plates for salads (& pepper 3 x's)
Had to ask for butter two times
Had ask for plates for dessert
Server was very nice but needs to pay more attention to the little things. Makes a difference from ok to excellent.
The 2 of us were seated in the back room with several large groups. It was loud so our conversations were a bit difficult. Our waiter Adam handled both the big groups and us very nicely. Recommend the lasagna, rigatoni with bolognese sauce, house chianti. Large portions and flavorful meals. We will return. We appreciate that they take reservations....OC does not have many restaurants that do that anymore.
This is a restaurant we have frequented many times. The food has always been excellent.
However, in summer months we have found it to be too crowded to take a family. The wait time after ordering can be 30 minutes or more and that's too long for young children.
Our most recent visit was a total disaster with a very long wait and then food served cold and undercooked.
We've been going to Ocean City for 10yrs. We save this restaurant for our last night before going home. It is by far the best place to eat in OC. The service is attentive and fast. The food and atmosphere is excellent. Peter (not sure if he's the owner or manager) made 2 trips to our table to check on us. I recommend this place to anyone I know going to OC.
Service was not very good and food was below average. My husband got the flank steak and it was so dry he couldn't eat it. I got lasagna and instead of ground beef it had strips of thin beef.
We had to ask for drink refills and butter several times before we got it.
I definitely will not be coming back.
Excellent food at an affordable price. Not a "romantic" atmosphere as dining was in one large open room and lots of families with children were there. Dress code was casual in a comfortable setting. setting. Food arrived quickly and was delicious. Highly recommend.
This was our second visit. We were at Touch of Italy over New Years and it was wonderful, that time.
We were very disappointed. The food is still delicious, but I've never had worse service.
I ordered the antipasto for two. Our server had two orders for two sent to our table. We tried to get our server's attention, but she didn't come back to our table nor acknowledge us until she brought our wine. I told her we hadn't touched the second portion and she said not to worry about it. We have it to a neighboring table.
She poured a small amount of wine for me to taste. When I said it was fine, she filled everyone else's glass--but not mine.
A runner brought our dinners and they were very good. We watched as our server took care of several tables around us--refilling their wine, making sure they got their correct orders, clearing their tables. Until we asked, she didn't cone back nor clear our table.
As we asked for the check, I made sure she wouldn't have to pay for the additional antipasto and she said no. When she brought the bill, both couples filled out the evaluation cards. I'm very doubtful anyone in management will ever see them.
Would I go back? Probably for the food. But if the same server attempted to "take care of" me, I would ask for someone else.
