Service was bizarre. Our server kept coughing into her hand while telling us the specials. Didn’t really know the menu very well recited the specials then walked away. Didn’t take our order. Anyway, food was average.
Ordered a small bottle of sparkling water but server brought us large one then proceeded to pour into all the cups in the table when the water was just for one person, me. Overall server was “nice” but was very confused and seem unprepared
Always a pleasurable experience! No need to go anywhere else!
Neighborhood GEM! Professional staff, eat in or take out - they take care of you.
The pasta Toscano was superb however the sole was not quite up to the same standard
Excellent food- thanks for the birthday cake for the birthday girl! This restaurant has been in boston for years and still is one of the best Italian restaurants - hands down.
Everything, from start to finish, was exceptional.
Cindy, our server made the evening. Great recommendations, and left us plenty of time to breathe and enjoy the whole experience.
My friends and I had a wonderful night dining at Toscano. They were very accommodating with my allergy and our server was fantastic. Endless amount of bread, fantastic entrées and the cappuccino chip gelato was to die for. I will definitely be coming back!
We had a wonderful time! Our serine was impeccable and the food was outstanding! We would recommend this restaurant to everyone.
Parents were visiting Boston and Toscano checked all of our boxes. Italian, seafood and willingness to accommodate a vegan diner. Toscano never disappoints!
Great service, atmosphere, and food. Will be going back.
Was good overall
Excellent dinner. Friendly, attentive staff. Food was delicious.
The hostess was not friendly or welcoming at all and she seemed annoyed to seat us - poor first impression
Food was fair at best
Server was awesome
Would not recommend
Toscano is a neighborhood place I've eaten at rarely, but gotten its take-out more often. I called ahead on my res to ask for a quiet place. the hostess said, "This is a noisy restaurant," and she's correct, but she seated us in the quietest place there (and we ate early) and it was delightfully quiet. My friend's meal was delightful. My beet salad was ample and clear and fresh flavored. We split the 5 shrimp appetizer, and it was fine, if not particularly unusual—big slightly chewy shrimp with a little oil on seasoning. I'm sensitive to pepper, so the linguine vongole was a little challenging for the chef—i asked for no red pepper, but still bright flavor. i was surprised that the white wine sauce had red tomatoes, so a different look and taste than i expected, but it was tasty, and i didn't cough...our zabaglione was a somewhat flat, thin custard almost overshadowed by the not-sweet blueberries. the custard didn't have the lightness of somewhat fluffy aspect that custard should have, pleasant but not freshly delicious. however, we had a truly pleasant meal. each of us notices what we eat, and we enjoyed everything, and the kind service that allowed us to linger into Toscano's busy time. The hostess greeted us warmly and was solicitous and friendly as we left also. It was a warm and lovely evening, and i'll surely return frequently, and try other dishes to find its star offerings. The service and ambiance genuinely gave us a fine evening.
Delicious food, wonderful service. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal from start to finish. We will return!
We would like to give this five stars (and are inclined to because of the outstanding service we had from Umberto, the outstanding sausage risotto I had and the generous wine pours) however, just a couple glitches prevent that. My husband ‘s veal chop was very good but the serrated knife provided to cut it was very dull and thus hard to use. The panzanella salad, which we split, didn’t have much flavor. We would definitely return, however.
Toscano is our favorite restaurant in Boston (and beyond) and there is a reason for that. The service is always impeccable, the quality and taste of the food is divine, the ambiance is romantic...need I say more? We always feel well taken care of, which has brought us back to Toscano time and time again. For this particular outing we were celebrating our anniversary, and the staff certainly made us feel special! Thanks Toscano, see you soon :)
Everything was great! The service was attentive without being intrusive. The food was stellar. We were surprised and grateful that the kitchen split the dishes we shared rather than trying to tackle that at the table. Wonderful restaurant for our special occasion.
Our waiter was phenomenal - guided us in our choices of cocktails/wine and then dinner. Food was superb (especially the veal chop)and I loved that the noise was abated by being in a smaller room with a window view of the kitchen. We felt pampered and not rushed on a Friday night.
Just a delightful evening. Great atmosphere, terrific dinner, attentive waitstaff (will definitely ask for Cindy next time again--so courteous and welcoming). Hmmm, time to switch from the North End?!
The food was excellent and the service made the entire experience perfect. A straightforward and authentic menu was appreciated and the down-to-earth and attentive staff will drive us to come again. Loved the ambience and attention to detail.
This place is always reliably good - service is always excellent and food is delicious - location is
Another awesome experience at Toscano!
Toscano is consistently fabulous!
The Toscano mista salad, smoked salmon appetizer, grilled lobster and veal scallopini as well as the blueberry torta for dessert were all outstandingly delicious! Amy chose a delicious bottle of wine for us too!
Our server Jose provided attentive, perfect service to complete a wonderful evening!
Looking forward to returning soon!
I really like the Harvard Square location, I think the new location still needs to figure things out a bit. The service felt very rushed - they would try to clear plates when we still had a fork to the plate which was frustrating. The waiter brought me a martini and when I asked for a side-car of olive juice he poured a ridiculous amount directly into my glass making it absolutely un-drinkable. I left the entire martini there and they still charged me for it.
Our waiter, Bojan, was incredibly warm and knowledgeable. He basically ordered for us and we couldn’t have been happier with the food.
Toscano is a great traditional Italian restaurant in the fashionable Beacon Hill area of Boston. We had a great meal at a fair price. Most entrees range fro around $20-$3- with some less and a few more. The portions were good. Wine by the class is in the 11-16 range but they actually give you a glass and another 1/3rd. The service was good and we were not rushed. We also arrived at 7:00 for our reservation and were immediately seated. overall, it was a great dinning experience.
Fabulous lunch, excellent cuisine, love the ambiance and exquisite attentive service.
Excellent food and service. Nice ambiance. A little loud is the only negative.
We had a wonderful meal from beginning to end . Our server was terrific and the meal was delicious. We had a lovely evening ,
Wonderful experience! We were looking for a quiet location for a leisurely meal on a Friday afternoon. We had stellar service and good food. It was exactly what we were seeking. The only reason for not giving full stars for food is because our main dishes were under-seasoned. The fried haddock was tasteless. My pasta was ok, good but not exceptional. I excuse this because we ordered off the dinner menu at lunch time and maybe the kitchen staff don't make these dishes often. Meanwhile, the salad, meatball appetizer and dessert were fantastic! The best part was the server who gave us the perfect amount of attention.
Toscano, from the very first time, has always been one of my most enjoyable dining experiences...
Excellent! Great service, amazing food, vegetarian friendly menu!
Great meal and service, my only negative would be it was quite dark in the dining room
Our favorite Boston restaurant. Never fails to please.
Food was delicious! Disappointed that none of the restaurant week entrees came with a pasta, but the rigatoni appetizer was a good option to satisfy the pasta craving. Service was a bit lacking - fine, just nothing special. Happy to have finally had a chance to try this spot though and overall did not disappoint.
We had an excellent and enjoyable meal at the Charles Street location during what turned out to be Restaurant Week. Only one of us got the prix fixe 3 course menu, but it was a real treat with generous portions that were delicious. Everyone had a different menu item and all four of us raved about the quality and taste of the food. Definitely a great place to go for any occasion.
Outside of Italy, it's the best! The food...from the appetizer to first plate to second plate to dessert is 5-star. Service from Ken makes the experience special.
We wouldn't miss a chance to break-bread at Toscano.
One down side are noisy, and a bit impolite, groups of guests.
Went during Dine Out Boston in August 2019. Toscano's went out of its way to showcase its best dishes. No skimping at all. We were impressed. Used to dine there frequently 25 years ago and have just rediscovered it. Will definitely return. Amazing veal tonnato, tender beef, stellar pasta and excellent tiramisu.
My friends and I most assuredly will return.
food was excellent! highly recommend the gnocchi and pasta e fagioli.
