Toscano (Beacon Hill) remains one of the top restaurants in the city for both quality cuisine and value. Our party of four was able to secure a treasured window table due to our early evening arrival. Our server was attentive and available throughout the evening. When I asked about an unfamiliar wine, he offered a complimentary taste. I was glad he did because the two glasses ordered at the table turned out to be from a bottle that had gone bad. The server brought the wine back without question and then acknowledged (while apologizing profusely) that it was bad. We understand that this can happen and the real issue is how the restaurant responds. It was handled perfectly. Food was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our early evening dining experience at Toscano.
Wonderful meal on a Friday night - cocktails, wine, appetizers and entrees were all fantastic. This was my first time here and I will be back.
The was a very nice experience. There is great atmosphere and very good service. The server made very good recommendations. A couple of minor points: when tell us the specials tell us the price of each. Additionally, please don’t clear plates until everyone is finished as it feels rushed.
Very nice quiet lunch on Beacon Hill, Boston. Good panini, though portions were larger than I wanted or expected. (I ate it all, of course.) Unobtrusive, meaning excellent, service.
We were five people shared pei mussels, calamari and Tuscan beans all delicious. All the meals were prepared so well as were the desserts. Great wine and cocktails
Always a wonderful dining experience at Toscano. From the warm greeting at the door, fantastic service, wonderful bar and drink menu to the outstanding food, I always look forward to returning and recommend the experience often.
Nice post holiday luncheon with my work team. Great food ,service as usual.
Pasta dishes here are all good!!
The food and ambience were wonderful. My friend and I went to dinner early so we wouldn’t be rushed. Our waiter was a bit quick from beginning to end and we did feel rushed. It was difficult to have a conversation because we were constantly interrupted.
Love this restaurant, it never disappoints! Always delicious and great service!!
An all-time favorite. Never disappoints. Always looking forward to the next visit.
This is our favorite restaurant. The food service ambiance is wonderful. We had a four course meal with a couple glasses of wine for under $100 a person with tip. I had the venison special it was cooked perfect with a nice Marsala sauce- other had seafood dishes they raved about - we shared appetizers including; smoked salmon, antipasto, grilled shrimp and sautéed oyster mushroom. This is a top notch place.
I always love going here, whether in Cambridge or on Charles Street. The comfort of great Italian food, good wine and a cozy atmosphere give me and my husband the same great experience each time we go.
Verty creative and tasty Italian dishes and wine. Staff is knowledgeable, courteous & enthusiastic. Setting feels like restaurant in small Italian village.
Our group of five had a happy celebration of the engagement of one of our sons. Our table was in front of a picture window and the evening was wonderful. Our waiter was warm, friendly, knowledgeable, professional and highly skilled. The food, from appetizers to dessert, was wonderful and cooked to perfection. We felt we were in Italy, in a classic restaurant that had a restrained elegance. Toscano makes it easy to sit back and have a wonderful time.
We all enjoyed our meals very much. Cozy atmosphere where noise level was low even with a full restaurant. Great service and food/wine suggestions
Brought friends into the city to look at Christmas lights and eat at Toscano, one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants. Didn’t disappoint!
Delicious! It’s been several years since I’ve met friends for a holiday lunch here. One bite of the rigatoni took me back to the many lunches I have enjoyed here. No one does pasta better! Wait staff are attentive but not intrusive. The restaurant is tastefully decorated for the season. A wonderful place to enjoy a special meal.
Toscanos is always excellent whenever we go, whether it is with friends, as a couple or with a group. We love both locations
Perennial favorite every December for my wife's birthday!
Awesome lunch from start to finish. Waiter was outstanding did not rush us. Looking forward to coming back in the near future.
Toscana has always been one of our favorite lunch spots on trips to Boston. Usually the food is good and the service excellent. Our recent visit was an exception. Service was perfunctory at best, with our appetizer and salad served together, bread that seemed microwaved but wasn't warm, water glasses going without refills until we were able to flag down someone with a pitcher of water, and a generally unconcerned server. And for some reason, every table around us had a "loud talker," not the restaurant's responsibility, just one more thing that made our meal less enjoyable.
But we had the food to look forward to, we thought. Unfortunately the ravioli was less than flavorful and if I hadn't known what was in the risotto, I couldn't have guessed. Nothing was bad, just not up to the usual standards and thus disappointing.
We'll chalk it up to a bad day and likely give it another try, as other meals at Toscana have been far better.
We had the bruschetta which was served on toasted bread with toasted garlic, very tasty tomatoes and mozzarella. Then we both decided on Rigatoni Toscano which is served in a creamy tomato sauce with bacon that is hard to describe but extremely flavorful and delicious. The bread that was provided was used to mop up all the sauce and bacon. And we went with the quarter glasses of wine of red montepulciano. Will be back to eat other dishes but this was wonderful.
Such a wonderful experience! Fantastic service, great food and a great wine made for a wonderful night. Would highly recommend for a special dinner for couples or families!
Perfect as always! Great food and service!
Love the bar.
Beautiful restaurant great service great food always fabulous experience!
Toscano was a very good restaurant. The service was outstanding and the food was worth the price. My daughter is a student at Boston University and we met her there for dinner the night before we went home. I believe it was a very good choice for the occasion.
Our waiter was extraordinary and the food was amazing at a fair price. Will be back soon!
Staff was very welcoming and responsive. Service was excellent. Unfortunately the food was not great
The food was tasty. The portions are definitely American and not Italian. The service was excellent. The atmosphere is charming and relaxed.
I visit from Upstate NY 2 or 3 times a year- and always have a meal at Toscano’s!
Consistently great food, wonderful wine list and wait staff are so friendly and accommodating .
College friends get together
First time at the Beacon Hill restaurant. One of the best Italian dining options outside of the North End. Many options of apps and entrees to choose from; pasta was excellent. Would definitely return when looking for dining options in the Back Bay.
Toscano never disappoints! Always ask for the specials! In 5 years, I've never ordered off the menu!
Great restaurant with detailed service and good food
One of our favorite places for Italian food that is not in the North End. Food is delicious and the service was great.
Excellent as always
Our family and some guests had booked a table for lunch on the day after Thanksgiving. It had been 2-3 years since I had last been to Toscano and we were all looking forward to it. Unfortunately, upon arrival we were soon met my our server who was a solemn and disagreeable young woman from start to finish. She did not seem interested in answering questions - any queries were addressed in a curt manner. It seemed like we were rushed through everything. The food was good and the portions were generous. The overall ambiance of Toscano was lovely and just as I remembered. However, our intersections with the server made the overall experience less than pleasant and served to take Toscano down a notch or two in my book. With so many places to dine in Boston I do not see a reason to support an establishment with such unpleasant service.
