We wanted a quiet, good neighbourhood Italian and this one seemed to be ideal. No tables available until 9 pm so we were a bit surprised to arrive to find plenty of tables free. Bread was excellent. The rest of the food was fine - not outstanding. My ‘special’ mushroom starter was just sliced up mushrooms on some frankly not good enough green salad leaves with no dressing whatsoever. I think they just made it up to get rid of excess mushrooms! My husbands mussels were fine.
We both had pasta for our main course. Ravioli was rolled a bit too thick - mine are much silkier and finer than that and I’m not even Italian!! My husbands Bolognese was good. Authentic and well cooked. Again, the pasta a little too thick.
All in all it’s a friendly place for some good but not outstanding Italian food. Music was very loud and not very relaxing listening to eighties hits but I’m sure if we had asked they would have changed it. Wine was excellent - they have a good selection and the one we chose was much better than I was expecting it to be - good value.
Service was very charming and attentive - excellent.
Our 5th time back and wonderful as usual. Don't make up your mind until you've heard the specials.
Meals were excellent. Waitstaff was excellent. Great restaurant!
Really wanted to love Toscano’s in Beacon Hill, but it fell short of our expectations. Our server was very attentive, and the ambience is romantic. We were disappointed in the beet salad. It had sliced beets atop a bit of arugula and a very small amount of cheese. Sadly, the rest of our food was fair at best. The pizza was bland, and the clams in the linguini vongole dish were chewy and a bit sandy, so I could not eat them. To be fair, the linguini was cooked perfectly and was very good. The blueberry tart was excellent. If we ever go back, it would probably be for drinks and dessert!
Food always reliable and great service
Phenomenal experience from start to finish. Our waiter (Peter) was attentive and very nice. The food was outstanding and an amazing value. Would go back again many more times.
Celebrated my friends birthday on Saturday evening. Food was outstanding, service great. I would highly recommend this restaurant. I will definitely go back again.
The waiter was very good and patient with my group of 7, one of whom came much later, after the drinks ordered. He was kind and did not make anyone uncomfortable. There were a couple errors with our dessert order which were quickly corrected and they left an extra complimentary tiramisu. Or I assume comped; I didn't pay too much attention to the bill. I was taking my department out for lunch and am glad that I chose such a good place that everyone could enjoy.
Best Restaurant in town ....great food, service and atmosphere!
We loved our server, Jose!! Can’t say enough about him. Our food was fantastic and the espresso martinis are extra yummy here!
This is the second time we've come to Toscano and both experiences were fabulous!! The service, drinks and menu options are great. If in Boston, definitely check out this restaurant as you will not be disappointed. We love it!!
Great Italian food, great service, great drinks!
Food and service always top notch!
A little disappointed for the first time in over 15 years!
Caesar salad is usually the best in the city but all four of ours were dry.
Everyone loved their meals except for me...tried the Vitello Milanese and it was plain, dry and served with a lackluster group of greens and tomatoes. Looked very sad on the plate.
Hopefully, just an off night as we are usually raving about our dinners at Toscano.
First time visit , recommended by friend, and we loved it! Food was delicious and waiter was very pleasant.
Toscano (Beacon Hill) remains one of the top restaurants in the city for both quality cuisine and value. Our party of four was able to secure a treasured window table due to our early evening arrival. Our server was attentive and available throughout the evening. When I asked about an unfamiliar wine, he offered a complimentary taste. I was glad he did because the two glasses ordered at the table turned out to be from a bottle that had gone bad. The server brought the wine back without question and then acknowledged (while apologizing profusely) that it was bad. We understand that this can happen and the real issue is how the restaurant responds. It was handled perfectly. Food was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our early evening dining experience at Toscano.
Incredible meal from start to finish! Can't wait to visit this place again. Highly recommended it to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience.
Wonderful meal on a Friday night - cocktails, wine, appetizers and entrees were all fantastic. This was my first time here and I will be back.
The was a very nice experience. There is great atmosphere and very good service. The server made very good recommendations. A couple of minor points: when tell us the specials tell us the price of each. Additionally, please don’t clear plates until everyone is finished as it feels rushed.
Very nice quiet lunch on Beacon Hill, Boston. Good panini, though portions were larger than I wanted or expected. (I ate it all, of course.) Unobtrusive, meaning excellent, service.
We were five people shared pei mussels, calamari and Tuscan beans all delicious. All the meals were prepared so well as were the desserts. Great wine and cocktails
Always a wonderful dining experience at Toscano. From the warm greeting at the door, fantastic service, wonderful bar and drink menu to the outstanding food, I always look forward to returning and recommend the experience often.
Nice post holiday luncheon with my work team. Great food ,service as usual.
Pasta dishes here are all good!!
The food and ambience were wonderful. My friend and I went to dinner early so we wouldn’t be rushed. Our waiter was a bit quick from beginning to end and we did feel rushed. It was difficult to have a conversation because we were constantly interrupted.
Love this restaurant, it never disappoints! Always delicious and great service!!
An all-time favorite. Never disappoints. Always looking forward to the next visit.
This is our favorite restaurant. The food service ambiance is wonderful. We had a four course meal with a couple glasses of wine for under $100 a person with tip. I had the venison special it was cooked perfect with a nice Marsala sauce- other had seafood dishes they raved about - we shared appetizers including; smoked salmon, antipasto, grilled shrimp and sautéed oyster mushroom. This is a top notch place.
I always love going here, whether in Cambridge or on Charles Street. The comfort of great Italian food, good wine and a cozy atmosphere give me and my husband the same great experience each time we go.
Verty creative and tasty Italian dishes and wine. Staff is knowledgeable, courteous & enthusiastic. Setting feels like restaurant in small Italian village.
Our group of five had a happy celebration of the engagement of one of our sons. Our table was in front of a picture window and the evening was wonderful. Our waiter was warm, friendly, knowledgeable, professional and highly skilled. The food, from appetizers to dessert, was wonderful and cooked to perfection. We felt we were in Italy, in a classic restaurant that had a restrained elegance. Toscano makes it easy to sit back and have a wonderful time.
We all enjoyed our meals very much. Cozy atmosphere where noise level was low even with a full restaurant. Great service and food/wine suggestions
Brought friends into the city to look at Christmas lights and eat at Toscano, one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants. Didn’t disappoint!
Delicious! It’s been several years since I’ve met friends for a holiday lunch here. One bite of the rigatoni took me back to the many lunches I have enjoyed here. No one does pasta better! Wait staff are attentive but not intrusive. The restaurant is tastefully decorated for the season. A wonderful place to enjoy a special meal.
Toscanos is always excellent whenever we go, whether it is with friends, as a couple or with a group. We love both locations
Perennial favorite every December for my wife's birthday!
Awesome lunch from start to finish. Waiter was outstanding did not rush us. Looking forward to coming back in the near future.
Toscana has always been one of our favorite lunch spots on trips to Boston. Usually the food is good and the service excellent. Our recent visit was an exception. Service was perfunctory at best, with our appetizer and salad served together, bread that seemed microwaved but wasn't warm, water glasses going without refills until we were able to flag down someone with a pitcher of water, and a generally unconcerned server. And for some reason, every table around us had a "loud talker," not the restaurant's responsibility, just one more thing that made our meal less enjoyable.
But we had the food to look forward to, we thought. Unfortunately the ravioli was less than flavorful and if I hadn't known what was in the risotto, I couldn't have guessed. Nothing was bad, just not up to the usual standards and thus disappointing.
We'll chalk it up to a bad day and likely give it another try, as other meals at Toscana have been far better.
