My friends and I loved this place! The food was awesome and the service was awesome too!! I loved our waitress, she was very knowledgeable and helpful! This place is a must visit for fine Italian dining.
You can't miss with Toscano's fish specials. Tonight the cod with golden raisens and pine nuts in a wine sauce was devine. Their creme caramel is almost as good as José Andres' and that's saying something.
Fabulous meal for our party of 3!! Definitely would recommend this restaurant anytime! Awesome food!!! Bravo!
Toscano has been our family tradition over the last four years while our daughter was attending school nearby. Every meal has been stellar, fresh, inventive, beautifully prepared and presented. The wine list is great - and the cocktails classic. The staff is always trying to make it work for your needs - squeezing in an extra chair, being patient with various arrival times, giving you time to enjoy yourselves fully. The seafood is sometimes truly stunning. The veal and steaks cooked to perfection. The lighting and mood is nearly my favorite part. Will miss it so much when our daughter moves on. One last big hurrah graduation weekend - can't wait.
Still one of our favorite restaurants anywhere. Warmly welcomed for our anniversary with a couple of treats. Excellent food and service as always. Whenever we get to Boston/Cambridge (a couple of times a year), we are sure to make reservations early to insure a spot.
The Wait Staff was superb and took great care to fulfill our every need. When I was standing in front of a Rest Room, an employee directed me to another one. We never felt rushed and the food was delicious. It was a delightful evening and I can't wait to return.
Food was good but very traditional. Nothing exciting here. If you are looking for standard pasta or other typical Italian dishes this will serve well. If you want something more interesting if look elsewhere.
Wrapping my time at the job I called my second home was a gem. Good to be here too see everyone and to remember my work.
The food was marvelous, but our overall experience was disappointing as the service was professional rather than warm and engaging. We also felt invisible when I tried to get some water from a number of waiters who kept on walking when I waved at them.
The high noise level also made it difficult to relax. This might be a Cambridge hot spot, but it left us cold...
My boyfriend and I went to Toscano for his birthday and it was wonderful! The staff are always really friendly and helpful. We are huge fans of their risotto and they capped off the night with a surprise dessert. It was perhaps a little louder than I would normally prefer for quiet conversation but nothing out of hand. Definitely recommend!
We planned a surprise celebration dinner for our daughter’s 30th birthday at Toscano and we couldn’t be happier with our decision. The wait staff was helpful and attentive. The courses were well paced and delicious. And our daughter was presented with a surprise complementary dessert! The only regret is that we didn’t order enough ricotta cheese torte to share. Can’t wait to go back!
Four of us had a wonderful lunch. Two of us had the oven roasted salmon, and two of us had one of the specials, a cod dish with capers and lemon (like a picata). We shared grilled vegetables and the meatballs for appetizers. For dessert we asked if they could make affogato (espresso over vanilla gelato), and they did. Everything was delicious including the bread, which I took home. I've eaten there several times for dinner, but this was the first time for lunch. Will definitely do lunch again.
If you are near the Harvard Square area, Toscano Harvard Square is wonderful place for lunch and dinner. The atmosphere is sophisticated, the food is really excellent, and you may see a few notable Harvard Faculty members in attendance!
The food is authentic Italian cuisine with a wonderful pasta menu, excellent entrees (I recommend the salmon) and luscious desserts. Top it off with a wonderful espresso!
The service is attentive but not overdone. If you're dating, it is a romantic spot, but it's also a great place to dine and catch up with friends. Highly recommend!
One of the best restaurants I’ve been to. The food is great with great prices. Awesome taste of Tuscany! I will definitely be going back, great find. Only downside is parking, but it’s worth it. Ari was our waiter and he was great.
This is the second dinner we have had at Toscano and have found the food and service to be very good. While very good it is unclear why the chef would allow an entree, that is visibly overcooked, to leave the kitchen
My boyfriend and I visited Toscano for the first time to celebrate a late Valentine’s Day (early) dinner. Overall we were very happy with our experience. Our waiter Mitch was attentive and had great suggestions. I couldn’t decide between the Rigatoni Toscano and the Funghi Risotto, so I asked for his opinion, and he suggested that I do a split dish - half of each. I was SO happy he suggested the split, because they were both SO yummy. And at no extra cost!!!! So awesome. My boyfriend got the eggplant plate for dinner and he loved that as well. When it came time for dessert, we wanted something chocolate and didn’t see anything on the menu that was chocolate. We asked what the couple next to us had gotten - flourless chocolate cake with a side of vanilla gelato - so we got that as well. Delicious!
So so happy we gave Toscano a shot - we will be back!!!
Toscano's is our favorite restaurant in Harvard Square. The food is always very good, the service professional, and the atmosphere relaxing.
My husband and I shared the meatball appetizer, which was very good. I ordered a rigatoni dish with double smoked bacon that I enjoyed very much, and he ordered the risotto with housemade sausage, which was very creamy but bland. The service was great. Overall, everything was quite enjoyable.
Toscano's never disappoints. It's always a place to go for a special outing because it is special. The food is always delicious and cooked perfect, service is "spot on" the wait staff is always attentive and the ambiance is great...homey and comfortable.
Great atmosphere, and the food was delicious. The service was friendly, but somewhat slow and inattentive. We weren't in a rush, though, so it's not a huge deal. Overall we enjoyed ourselves and would visit again.
Melissa was great and very helpful and responsive with our specific request for reservation of the five persons table by the window. The table was ready in time. Arie ('sorry if the spelling is not correct, our server) was very friendly, attentive, respectful and understanding in taking all details for our specific vegan meals and overall orders. The chef was GREAT! The food was absolutely delicious, fresh, tasty and very well presented. Thank you all at Toscano Harvard Sq. for our wonderful time. We can hardly wait to come again.
I reserved a table for 7 - we had the group antipasti, which was great; service is wonderful and the choices, particularly the specials, is also good. This meal was third group gathering I had hosted on an annual basis and everyone always has a great meal as well as a great time.
The food is always perfect! Very high quality and well presented food. The waiters are pretty much perfect : people and nice.
Food was awesome, especially the pizza. Bar tender was not super nice in explaining things but responsive enough for orders. Quiet place good for dates.
Best thing about the Super Bowl, is we got last minute tickets to the theater at ART and a reservation for dinner at Toscano. Also, there was NO traffic driving in or out of Cambridge. We have often tried to get pre-show reservations, but they are always booked. If you can go later, it is much easier. But finally. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. Service was efficient for the most part and always friendly. I am not a fan of good restaurants that start clearing plates while some of the party is still eating, which they did here. But that was a minor issue. The food was very good. We had the burrata to start. The burrata was excellent, but I think the dish would be better in the summer when tomatoes are in season. I had the Bologonaise Bianco.. My husband order the veal scallopine but hadn't noticed there were two kinds and ended up with the red sauce instead of the lemon - and was disappointed in the dish. I want to give a shout out to the bar as well. One of the best French 75's I've ever had. I want to go back just to try some more of their drinks. Their take on an old fashioned looked interesting. Our next trip to the ART we will try to make reservations further in advance, or we may just go later when there's not a show. But we do want to return.
Our waitperson Tevin asked us whether we were going to the ART (which we were) and assured us he would make sure we were served promptly and out of the restaurant in time for the show. He was attentive without being intrusive throughout our time at Toscano's. The food was fresh, delicious and surprisingly quite reasonably priced. I'll definitely try Toscano's again when I'm in Harvard Square.
Fish specials are always excellent.
Reliably excellent. Casual enough while still upscale.
We wanted a comfortable and yet professional setting for exploring a business idea with a friend. Toscana was perfect. Old world quality and excellence at a reasonable price with impecable service. Our waiter, Robinson, was a gem. We felt very cared for. And the food was top notch, from the panini and olive oil to the three pastas we ordered. Definitely coming back.
Rosa was a fantastic server! The food was great and the service really put it over the top. From the host helping to get a bar seat for a drink before the rest of my party arrived to seating us immediately and being so pleasant. Can't say a bad thing about this place!
We've been to both of Toscana's locations before, and have never been disappointed. The food is always excellent, the service thoughtful and competent. Toscana offers the ideal splurge dining-out experience. Wonderful place to bring out of town visitors.
My wife and I took friends from FL. We have been there many times before, but this was their first experience at Toscano's. They raved about the food and the wonderful service which are always exceptional.
The menu is always changing at Toscano, but the food is consistently excellent. The salads were huge, crispy, pretty to look at, and lightly beautifully dressed. We split two among the four of us. The main courses (a few of us had pasta and others meat dishes) were delicious. They must make their own pasta. It's excellent. My daughter had gnocchi her favorite and they were just right in texture.
Beautiful ambience, great service, terrific food....literally like a fine Tuscan restaurant in Firenze or Siena or Pisa! It's a treasure.
I easily give this place two thumbs up, despite being a little pricey. The calamari appetizer was reminiscent of my grandmother’s homemade lobster-marinara, and my linguine and red clam sauce was cooked to perfection. The bruschetta was SO flavorful, with fresh basil, tomato, and mozzarella. The highlight for me, however, was ordering a cannolo for dessert and being brought TWO! It was like they knew me :).
On elf the best places too eat in the square very reliable service and food quality
the best every time - food-service-favorite restaurant every visit is a pleasure - never disappointed
Thank you! It was our daughter's 32 birthday, and you helped make it very special. Our servers were terrific. The food was very good, and the atmosphere was great. We'll be back for sure.
(I dislike the practice of adding "gratuities" to bills for parties of 5+. I understand the reason, but call it something else— a fee or a service tax. It is *not* a gratuity if the customer is forced to pay it. I always pay 20%-25% for service wherever I go. It is offensive that I cannot seem to be choosing to tip generously. I suppose a solution would be to ask for separate checks??)
Fine Italian food. They adapted very well, making substitutions, for some members of our party with very specific and limited dietary restrictions. The dishes seemed traditional, but tasty--and the menu is huge. We enjoyed our wine, which was one of the less pricy ones. This restaurant is half a block from the American Repertory Theater, and offers a discount to people attending the theater. We plan to make more combined ART/Toscano trips part of our future.
Eaten here before. Food always good. Not too happy with service today. Waiter did not seem to be knowledgeable about food restrictions or specials and had to keep going to kitchen to ask so it took some time before we were able to even order. Should not be difficult to state put sauce or gravy on side. No added salt to anything or if cooking from scratch, no salt, etc. Once our food did come, it was very good. Slow start but good ending.
