We were overcharged and the manager/owner shouted at my partner and refused to fix the mistake the waiter made. Planning to dispute with my bank. They also charged us without telling us for a birthday dessert that they encouraged us to order — very misleading and tasteless. Terrible experience.
Why did you put us in the way back function-typeroom? There were plenty of open tables. I had a reservations for many weeks. We were removed from energy of restaurant. Bad form. We have been here many times. Food is good. Diners are paying for overall experience though.
Good food and great service! Nice place for formal gatherings and semi-formal meetups.
Toscano has delicious, fresh offerings in good-sized portions. Our waiter was patient when part of our party was late, and then attentive throughout the meal. I found the football games on the screens above the bar out-of-place. Next time I can think I’ll ask for a table in the side dining room.
Always excellent - loved sharing with friends who had never been before 😀
Pre concert dinner. Our reservation was promptly honored. We enjoyed a lovely meal. Our waiter was attentive but not hovering. Empty plates were whisked away when we finished. Even though it’s a very busy place we never felt rushed. We had a time we had to leave so we couldn’t linger over coffees and dessert. The menu is classic Italian but it’s very hard to successfully do simpler things well and Toscano did. My verdure alla griglia was perfection with its olive oil and lemon. I definitely would like to go again when I have more time. Only caveat it’s very noisy making it hard to hear your dinner companion due to all the hard surfaces. Sound baffling panels on the ceiling would help.
Food was OK but not outstanding or very imaginative. Excellent selection of wine, however, and reasonably priced. Tirimisu was tasteless. Noise level nearly intolerable, difficult time conversing. Expensive.
I ordered the tenderloin special and it was amazing. Katie was an excellent server.
Service was great! Lunch portions available for all entrees if you want less food for lunch. Split the sea bass and linguini pesto dishes. So well done! Potatoes were not stellar. Burrata was split so it was so easy to share - I loved that! I definitely recommend a lunch meeting at Toscano’s!!
Toscano is our go-to for after theater in Harvard Square. After an American Repertory Theater performance and head there for the excellent atmosphere, food and service.
We enjoy the appetizers, carpaccio and mushroom salad are remarkable and we find the grill options to be excellent. We had Steak with Peppercorns, the veal chop and Lamb Chops and recommend them all. All menu selections have been Flavorful and perfectly prepared and the wine selection includes excellent and reasonably priced selections from across the Italian regions.
As always fabulous. Glad to have you back, but miss the sole on the menu.
Called to ask for extra few minutes for reservation time Bc ART play getting out time Of as not due Friday nite

Very helpful staff
DINNER WAS GREAT !! Drinks spot on. Apricot spritz and basil gimlets
Server. was slow but we think the pandemic is the
Pleasant atmosphere and great food. Fish, pasta, pizza are all equally fine.
All of the above
Salad & eggplant parmesan appetizer were very good. But the main course-- a venal scallopine special with mushrooms and a sauce finished with cream was a big disappointment. The veal was stringy and tough, the sauce bland, hardly any mushrooms. Not worth the high price.
Server took my wine before I was finished lol but everything else was great!
My pasta dish was mainly pasta. Very little seafood or flavor. Not like past meals at this restaurant. Service was excellent.
This was our first time dining at Toscano and we will definitely be back. Very happy with our evening.
From the service to the food- everything was amazing! Thank you for making my sisters birthday so special!
It was ok. Food was pretty good, service was good. Nothing crazy though. A bit expensive too.
The Harvard Square location is a simply beautiful restaurant. I love what feels like a New York vibe, classy, casual, yet upscale. Never disappointed.
Consistency in food quality and service is what keeps us coming back.
We very liked the waiter too. It was lovely to be back after Covid induced hiatus. We shall be back soon—all four us. Thank you again for keeping quality of the place too notch.
Server was very knowledgeable and food was excellent.
The salad, pasta main dishes, and dessert were very good. This is a very good Cambridge restaurant.
I have eaten at Toscano many times prior to the pandemic. Last night the entrees especially just missed the mark. My Tricolore salad was very good, but my partner said that the Caesar was wet and the dressing had no body—was very watery. Both of our fish dinners (monkfish and sole special) were kind of lackluster. The mustard Hollandaise was too mustardy tasting for the fish. The lemon butter sauce was not executed correctly and the accompaniments were pedestrian. The garnishes on the plates were sprigs of wilted parsley. Not what i expected for the prices or based on previous visits. What has changed?
Wonderful service, as always! Delicious food and perfect ambience! Toscano has become our favorite Cambridge restaurant, consistently wonderful food and service!
Victor, our server, was exceptional.
My veal limone and my don’t pasta fagiola were amazing! My daughter enjoyed her veal as well. And our waiter was great! The appetizers were too big. There were 6 of us there. My husbands steak was just OK. My son’s penne with meat sauce tasted more like chili over pasta than a good ragu. My uncle’s gnocchi were well made, but the sauce didn’t go well with it. I would definitely return for the vea, soup and service.
Really delicious pasta and wide range of dishes. Great service - water always full, professional waiter and wait staff. Just as pricy as the north end but better and a little less people. Will definitely return.
We love Toscano! We had a healthy (!) and truly special meal.
Sadly, this was our first visit and we have clearly been missing out. The place was bustling on a Head of the Charles Saturday night but the service was excellent. The dishes were classic with a splash of contemporary rich in vegetables, color and flavor. The minestrone and tomato bread soup warmed with just enough salt to enhance. The Caesar was lighted dressed and the crispy crotons enhanced the crisp romaine. The lemon sole was cooked perfectly and the special seafood grill was simple bringing out the flavors. It was loud and crowded but that is expected. We will be back.
First time at Toscanos treating our daughter to dinner during a recent visit. All of our food was delicious (we tried 2 different pasta dishes, a risotto, the filet and the pork chop. We also loved the wine offerings and our waiter was so helpful with his recommendations and suggestion to order 1/2 portions to share.
Hostess was very kind. Food was tepid. Service indifférent. Rushed from start to finish. This is the obvious place to go in Harvard Square — for deans wooing donors and wealthy parents treating their offspring. For the rest of us, wander further afield to Pammy’s or Fox and Knife for upscale Italian.
Very enjoyable evening. Great service, excellent food, nice atmosphere.
Food and service was great highly recommended
parking a bit dificult
Celebrating our son running the Boston Marathon on Monday. Also an early birthday celebration.
The place as loud, waiters didn’t know what they were talking about and the gnocchi was the “only pasta made in house” and was the only gnocchi I’ve ever had that was bad. It had no bite and the sauce was weak at best.
The Basil Gimlet and Chocolate-mouse-tiramisu were excellent.
Food was great as always but service was slow.
