Toscano Harvard Square
Our server was amazing. She described the specials so vividly that I can picture them in my mind and they did not disappoint. We also mentioned it was our 13th anniversary and she looked up the gift symbol for 13 years, which I thought was so thoughtful. The food was amazing - we had the specials - seafood risotto and red pepper soup. Also got tiramisu for dessert, on the house.
25th wedding anniversary.
Always spot on, this is why it’s my favorite and last 5 anniversary dinners here.
The wait staff was attentive and friendly. The food and wine were excellent.
We usually like this restaurant but not this time. The service was horrible. The kitchen lost the check so that the waiter came back to ask our order. The waiter made mistakes with our order. For the dessert, I asked to change it. A fly jumped in the carafe of my wine so I asked the waiter to remove it. He removed both carafe and the glass with wine but no compliment. The dishes were not good either. The summer menu did not reflect summer. Dishes came with heavy sauce. Both salmon and pork loin were very dry. Because of the location, this restaurant is always packed with customers. However, they have to make an effort to improve both the food and the service. We were very disappointed.
The food was very disappointing. Two of us had the portabella mushroom/arugula salad and the salmon entre. The arugula was good, but the mushrooms were a bit bitter and tough. The salmon was overcooked and dry. I ate less than 1/4 of it and could not stomach any more. One of our group had the red pepper soup and a pasta entre; she ate little of either. She said the pasta was dry and unappetizing. The service was fine, except that we had to wait several minutes for a table to come available. (We had a reservation and arrived on time.) The room was busy and noisy.
Salmon with asparagus was good. Brocoli rabe was chewy. And funghi pasta was slimy and mushrooms seemed like basic button mushrooms not porcini. There were no visible herbs but there was a hair in the pasta. We asked for spaghetti pomodoro instead which was also poorly prepared. In Boston, the pasta should be good. We do not recommend this restaurant at all
Under the keen management of the most professional staff and amazing food, Toscano Harvard Square is the place to dine! All others pale by comparison!
Great location, friendly staff. Food was ok, not as good as other Italian restaurants in the area and it’s expensive.
I love going to this place! Great value but with an upscale feeling. The ingredients are always fresh and rotating specials are so delish. I took my mom here and she loved it. I also have a great experience with the staff/service every time. 10/10!
Incredible selection of great steaks, fish, and pasta dishes. Went with a group who all ordered different things, and everything was fantastic. Highly recommend.
Fantastic food, and the best limoncello martini I've ever had! Our server, Robinson was of the classic old school variety. Wonderful!
Loved our server. My dining partner is high maintenance and he didn't bat an eye at her requests, was friendly and professional throughout.
Service was horrible but food and ambiance were great. I would still recommend but hope for better service.
Really enjoyed the summer menu Toscano offered at this time.
I wish they would do a fall, winter and spring menu as well.
Dine here fairly often and it is always great. You can rely on top notch food quality, service and ambience. Generous wine pour. All for very reasonable prices.
Great time. Food was excellent and they were doing a special 3-course for $33 - such a deal. Our server, Mitch, was the cherry on top to a perfect evening.
Awesome food, great service.
Toscano Harvard Square sets the bar to which all other restaurants should aspire. My personal experience with the amazing staff of this establishment and the food and beverage service is outstanding. Whenever I am asked where I would like to dine, my answer is Toscano Harvard Square.
We enjoyed our meal at Toscanos very much. Great service and knowledgeable about the specials. They told us the straws for our drinks are made out of hay, who knew? Cool!
This is one of my favorite Italian restaurants to go to in Boston area. The food is always delicious, with an outstanding list of wines to select from, and superb service. And after everything is said and done, your bill will not resemble a mortgage payment. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice evening out with great food and ambiance. Look forward to returning soon.
Great location for before theater at the ART. The specials list is about as long as the menu. Make sure to have good collective memories.
I had friends visiting from out of town and wanted to take them somewhere nice and not too cookie-cutter. A lot of the local restaurants that friends recommended served dinner only. Toscano had a pleasant ambiance, good, fresh ingredients, and felt like a nice treat. While it's not cheap, the food was very good, with courteous and efficient service.
The food was delicious. Our waitress was great. Very knowledgeable about each dish and gave great advice in helping us to pick our meal.
We had a very enjoyable early dinner the other night.
Always excellent in every way.
Server was very courteous, although service could have been a bit faster. Maitre d’ was friendly, which was nice as sometimes they’re not as welcoming as one could hope. Good was excellent, as usual. Noise level was high.
Made my 21st birthday exactly what u wanted it to be! The food was amazing and so was the service. Definitely will be back!
Pleasant atmosphere, very attentive staff and good food. There is nothing wonderful about this location of Toscano, but if you are in Harvard Square looking for traditional Italian fare this a solid choice.
Before a show at ART, we enjoyed a brilliant selection of primi, drinks and and entree. The service was delightful, the food was impeccable and the selection impressive. Will definitely return. We did have a reservation.
We had dinner here before attending a performance at the ART nearby. Our table had a nice view onto Brattle Street. The food, especially the homemade pasta dishes, was scrumptious. Even though the restaurant did not appear to be busy yet, we were at our table for 25 minutes without anybody to serve us. After getting up to speak to the bartender, a waitperson finally came. From then on the dinner proceeded smoothly. In spite of the initial hiccup we would come back here.
This restaurant had great atmosphere and the service was great. Just on the Harvard Square so the location is great and the prices are reasonable. The lunch was excellent in taste. I was particularly fond of the Bruschetta which was so fresh and the veal limone had a light lemon wine sauce that I liked alot. The veal was so tender. We asked for the check in under an hour with no hassles. All Great.
A disaster. Seated at an inferior table when no on else was in the restaurant. And not offered a reasonable alternative. We chose to decamp. Avoid it at all costs!
We had a service “issue” which was swiftly and expertly corrected. The staff bent over backwards to make our meal pleasant, and allowed us to stay unreasonably late - without complaint. Many thanks for your kind attention!
Always a great experience to dine at Toscanos in Harvard Square. Food is excellent, staff very nice and professional. The best restaurant for any occasion!
Wonderful restaurant with excellent cuisine and service...
We go often. This time after a matinee at ART theater. The special was a soft shell crab dish. Outstanding. Very accommodating hostess and wait staff. We highly recommend.
The atmosphere at Toscano is genteel, one feels as if at a resort where people come for Sunday lunch with their families, as a familiar destination.
Amazing food at pretty reasonable price
Loved the food although the wrong soup was brought, but ate it anyway. Service not great
