Toscana's Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
We were celebrating our anniversary. Thoroughly enjoyed our dinners of Fruite de Mare with home made Fussili and Veal Scallapini with Gnocchi! The delicious, warm home-made bread with seasoned olive oil hit the spot. Since we were so full, for dessert we ordered and shared 1 delicious and light Teramasu. Our server, Diane was so helpful and attentive!
Food was delicious and true Italian, and came in massive quantities. We were seated near two large parties who got a bit noisy, so conversation got more difficult as their alcohol intake increased. Service was fantastic until the end- we were going to get coffee and dessert, but our waitperson seemed to disappear for 20 minutes.
I was disappointed because on my reservation I stated we were celebrating a 90th birthday. I reiterated this upon entering and also to our waitress. NOT one person said happy birthday to the 90 year old! Most restaurants would have picked up on this wonderful occasion and probably brought him a dessert!
This was a special occasion and I messed up the number of people. I put 2 and we were 6. some of my family had been there without me earlier in the week and loved it. So we chose tis for my special birthday. When the mistake was realized they went above and beyond on to seat our party and the did. I ordered the special, which was a Lobster Risotto with a butternut squash base that was one of the best dishes I have ever eaten. And to top it off, because they knew it was my birthday and they recognized my family from the other day, the presented us with the most scrumptious desserts. This is one of the best restaurants on the North Shore of Boston and worth every reasonable amount that it costs. Thank you Toscana's.
We've been going to Tocana's for years. The food is consistently great: they use fresh ingredients and make their own pasta which is divine. The service is always stellar and there's plenty of parking available. Why fight for parking in Boston when you can get North End quality food right in Peabody?
My wife and I love this place for consistently great Italian food without driving into Boston. We've been going here for over 6 years and have never been disappointed. Tables are fairly close and it can get a bit loud at times, but you won't beat the quality of food and service anywhere else.
Our server Matthew was great. Helpful, knowledgeable and fun. The food was very good from the app special eggplant to the cannoli for desert. Even though we were in the quiet room, it was still a little more noisy than I would have preferred. All in all we will be going back to Toscana's.
I have mixed feelings about this restaurant so I think I could put it this way...the atmosphere needs to be elevated to the level of the fabulous food. The food is wonderful!! We arrived for a very early dinner on Saturday, maybe about 3:45, and there were people hanging outside smoking - not a big complaint with me, but noticeable all the same. Upon the hostess guiding us to our table, which was in a room behind their bar area, about five feet into the walk all we could smell was cleaning fluids - it was strong and very off-putting. It smelled horrible. We should be smelling sauteed garlic, sauces, etc., not liquid Lysol, etc. Bar seemed like a local fave and everyone was having fun. So, no problem there and in fact, nothing but great things to say from this point on. Paul, our server, was fine, the food even better - kudos to the chef for the Risotto - it was GREAT. It had everything the menu mentioned, but they failed to mention the generous amount of extra (extra!) shrimp pieces strewn about. And this little surprise was after having put several shrimp on top, asparagus as well, and a lovely touch of a lobster bisque or etc., piped around the edge. Loved it. Serving so generous the leftovers became the next day's lunch. DH had Veal Scallopine and it was everything he expected (man of few words sometimes lol) and would order it again. No room for dessert but they sounded good! So, to wrap it up, really good food - you won't be disappointed. Toscana's, you have a gem of a chef who will keep your customers coming back. When the time is right, invest in a little ambience makeover and you should be around for a long time!
Great service - friendly and attentive. Food was very good except for the Caesar salad. It was bit dry and had too much cheese and too many croutons. Our entrees were fabulous so that made up for it.
Our biggest complaint was the noise level. It was overwhelming at times and made us wanted to finish up and get out. We wanted to linger a bit over the bottle of wine we purchased and maybe have coffee and dessert but the atmosphere was unpleasant.
