Tortilla Coast - Capitol Hill
Its a nice place to eat good atmosphere great happy hour menu and good swirls
Website advertises happy hour every day of the week, but there was not happy hour on Cinco de Mayo. No Cinco de Mayo specials either.
When we got to the restaurant I told them we had made a reservation. The host said that there would be a 10-15 minute wait. I asked, do you see my reservation? And her response was yes, but there is only one host so there will still be a 10-15 minute wait. She also recommended a restaurant around the corner we could go to where there may not be a wait. What was the point in making a reservation? We ended up going down a little further to Sanphan Thai Cuisine and it was crazy busy and the food was delicious!
Very quiet but the breakfast burrito was brilliant! Should be busier !
Those are the greasiest chips ever. Had to sop up the grease with my napkin before eating. Please change the cooking process or something.
The restaurant needs to be renovated. The service is awful. The server and hostess were not welcoming.
We came after a Capitol Tour because we were told it was a local haunt.
The staff was very friendly.
The queso with ground beef and quacamole was very good. The salsa was ok.
We ordered the shrimp tacos, Baja fish tacos, regular beef taco meal and the beef chimichanga and kids taco and fries.
The beef tacos were just not good. No one at the table enjoyed them.
The rest was between good and ok.
The price was over $80 for a family of 5.
The portions were large and we heard they have a great Happy Hour.
My family appreciated it for what it was...local,close to the Capitol.
We appreciated our servers greatly.
Good Stuff Eatery is a burger and fry place close to the Capitol too...would go there next time.
We loved it so much, we came back 2 nights later! The shrimp quesadillas were the best ever.
They closed at 9 while still taking reservations beyond that time. Disappointed but at least Eddie is back!
They are so very nice and very attentive, but the food completely misses the mark. We would have done better at Chipotle. Very disappointed and expected more from this Capitol Hill eatery. We can handle the gritty atmosphere if the food is authentic and hits the mark, but this was not the case. I wish I didn’t have to report this, but feel other Open Table’ers should beware.
My husband and I had a delicious dinner at Tortilla Coast! We were treated like family. Highly recommend!!!
The Customer Service was excellent. I thought it was quite cozy. Enjoyed my meal w/company!
Floor was dirty. Table was dirty.
Great atmosphere, terrific food and drinks and the service is fantastic. Their place is the real deal!!
Food was tasty but not spicy. Salsa and chips were excellent.
Service was good.
The food was fine but kind of bland and uninspired. The margaritas tasted like they were made from a cheap mix. The server was very nice, but took forever to ask us if we wanted a second round when our glasses were empty. She just disappeared. After we ordered a pitcher of margaritas to avoid having to wait again if we wanted more, she kept coming by to tell us it was "on its way" (same with the food). It was very slow (Sunday night) so I don't know what was taking the bartender or the kitchen so long. This place may be OK for a quick work lunch but with so many great places to eat in DC why waste your time on mediocre fare with slow service. I've had better from many local food trucks.
The Sampler Platter was great, a good mix of everything! LOVED the margarita pitchers for $27! The food was great and the place was fun!
Perfect for meeting up before a concert at Nats Park!
The food was AMAZING... I couldn't finish my burrito! Definitely a good, clean taste- not overly salty or oily and the waitstaff is very attentive!
I’m from Texas so my Tex Mex bar is high. But this was the worst Tex Mex and margaritas I’ve have in the DC area.
Service was excellent, the manager was wonderful
We did make a reservation, but service was fast, attentive and friendly. Very casual, fun Place for above average food snd Margaritas!
Best Mexican food in the hill. Love the chips and salsa. Outside, inside burrito is outstanding.
Great texmex food
The food was good, but the service not so much. They forgot to bring a requested water 4 times. We also felt unbelievably rushed.
Quick service and easy booking. The quesadilla were great!
Waitstaff was very help and never needed anything but the food was bland and uninteresting. I've heard the margaritas are tasty but I won't be searching this out any time soon.
I like it very much, specially the frozen margaritas/ thanks
The chicken fajitas were excellent. The complimentary chips were paper thin, warm and fabulous! But the dessert churros were the best ever!
Great for brunch
This was a great place for dinner. The service was outstanding and food was very good!
Late lunch after a day at the National Cathedral. Restaurant is very near the Capital Hill South metro.
Great! We were looking for a place that is casual with good food and this fit the bill. Will definitely go there again.
Exactly what you want from a Mexican restaurant. Food got out fast, but we did never get our water and they were very slow with the bill. But the food is exactly what you want from a relatively inexpensive Mexican joint. Good margaritas.
It's not a trip to Capitol Hill without a stop at Tortilla Coast. The food is outstanding, budget friendly, and consistently wonderful service. The salsa and queso are authentic - don't miss Tortilla Coast on your next Hill visit!
initial service was delayed
when food was served it was not all served together, some guest wanted for their meal
no complaints on food
communication could be improved
My favorite place to eat in D.C.!
Excellent staff. Fun place to check out Capital Hill crowd.
A Capitol Hill icon. It's not the best Mexican food you will have, but the service is fast, astute and breezy, the food is great, the chips and salsa keep coming, and it's steps from Congress.
We came for early dinner. Waiter was efficient but when we lingered he seemed to try to rush us. There were open tables and no line so we didn’t understand why he was rushing us. Had tuna tacos that had a very tasty sauce on them. The rice and beans were bland. I have had better margaritas.
