These Texans give this place two thumbs up. Family friendly. Good food. Great margaritas!
Love the sunset dip!
Tortilla Coast serves delicious Mexican food at reasonable prices. The server easily accommodated us when one more person showed up than we had on our reservation, and was kind to take a picture of our group. It is conveniently located to the Capitol South Metro stop.
Great place for Mexican. Great food, outstanding frozen Margaritas, good service and very good prices. Even better, it is just across the South Metro Station!
High school get together
Great food, a blend of Mexican and American bbq
Was not empressed with food selected, Spinach and Mushroom Fajitas. Spinach was not fully drained and mushroom could not be tasted or seen. Guac, Sour Cream and Pico were all required and supplied to make the dish palatable.
However, the Xango (dessert) was superb.
Food was good and service was friendly. The margaritas were awful. Truly the worst we have ever had!
Neighborhood gem serving authentic Mexican fare. Superb tortilla soup.
Our waiter was very nice and did a great job. Beers were cheap for the area. Chips were entirely too oily and so was quesadilla. Tacos and rice were delicious. Overall we enjoyed our meal.
The heat must not have been working, as the restaurant was freezing! The service was good, the food was below average. All three of our entrees had to be sent to be reheated. I won’t return to this restaurant in the future!
General food, nothing special. Good deals and service. Not really Mexican food if that is what you’re going for.
The tamale dinner plate was not the traditional Tex-Mex I expected and was only average in taste. The fajitas were heavy in onion and light in peppers. The server we had was excellent and the hostess was outstanding. This was a first time visit and while it is not a restaurant that I would rush to return, if I were in the vicinity, I would.
Nice and friendly near cap hill
Nice place to get dinner before the Nats ballgame.
Fresh Tortillas and Salsa, Knowledgeable Wait staff. Great food at a Great price!
Food was delicious and the service friendly!
Under staffed the help did everything to keep it on track. Great location to meet up after work or a game (shhhhh).
Yummy quesadillas!!! Would have liked a handcrafted margarita rather than one that tasted of a mix from a bottle but we enjoyed the experience overall!
Fantastic service. We had a large party and they were awesome.
Killer Bloody Marys! Lovely service - nice selection on menu, plenty of familiar stand-bys, but lots of more innovative choices you don't see often in DC/mexican restaurants.
One of our favorite tex mex spots in the city. love the chips and salsa and lots of great veggie choices
Quick meal between business meetings. Got us in and out quick.
Tortilla Coast is hit or miss. On previous occasions I had a good experience, other not so good. This was one of the not so good ones. It was just a combination of service mistakes from incorrect order, to two of four entrees coming out but with no one to flag down to ask whether the other two were coming. When we finally did get someone's attention, the third entree followed, but after several more minutes we had to flag someone else down to see what happened to the fourth entree. We were there for over an hour before all of the food arrived and didn't see our server the whole time. Drinks were not refilled and most of our time was spent trying to figure out where the food was as opposed to enjoying our lunch. After all of that I would have expected some reduction on the bill, but found that instead we were charged for items that never made their way to the table.
We were at the Capitol for the Bible Reading marathon on the Capitol steps. We wanted Mexican food that would be close by and would not break the bank. We were not disappointed! Would highly recommend.
Second time in the past month where service was really slow and we were passed over by waitstaff for refills and things we asked for were never delivered. This use to be our go to place for a quick family dinner but something has changed and instead of waiting 10 minutes for food it's 30-45 minutes. By that time we're all full on chips and the kids have lost their patience.
We were in from out of town and looking for a Mexican restaurant and found this on open table. 2 families including 4 kids under 10. It's Right near to the Capitol.
Seated right away. Table was a little sticky and had to ask to have it wiped down again. Tortilla chips were very greasy and without much flavor. Kids ordered chicken tacos but the chicken had a spicy sauce and had onions & peppers which my picky eaters didn't eat. I ordered a shrimp quesadilla but they came back a few minutes later saying they didn't have shrimp that night so I got a chicken quesadilla. It was good but it's hard to mess up a quesadilla. I had a frozen margarita which was good. My Husband ordered beef fajitas and said they were good but not very hot and didn't come out on the sizzling plate like you typically get. Ambiance was ok but what concerned me was that the wood floor next to our table was caving in and seemed like one heavy step and you'd fall right through. Waiter was nice enough. Overall it was a decent enough meal but nothing i would run back to unless I was in the area and needed a quick bite.
Great family spot!
Waiter was great - food was standard Mexican fare. Been to the other location, and it seemed to be better, as I remember. Tuna tacos dry, and guacamole had skin in it!
Great tasting food and incredibly quick service!
Tortilla Coast is my favorite place to eat Mexican food, and being from Texas, I have high standards! The food is always amazing and the service is excellent. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and I always look forward to eating there.
The salsa was amazing...could gave eaten a bucket full. The sharing platter and our mains were also good unfortunately they all came at once, due to this it all felt a bit rushed to say the least.
Waiter was lovely.
It was terrible. The staff were friendly but the food was horrible. I left it all.
As it was Friday during lent, we were looking for a non-meat option. There weren't many, but one was the shrimp quesadilla, which we ordered. 10 minutes after our ordering, our somewhat surly waiter (he seemed put-out most of the night; might just been his way of joking around-- not clear) came back to say the shrimp were frozen. I didn't understand why they couldn't be thawed...
Anyway! We ended up with the Ahi tacos; they were EXCELLENT! (Pretty high heat, but we like that.)
Gold margarita was good, too Not syrupy.
Great location 2 blocks from capital. Menu was very good. our server was fantastic. Highly recommend it.
The managers have great energy & wonderful customer service! They pitch in to assist the servers and check in on patrons.
Good food. Good service.
We were greeted warmly at the door, but everything went downhill from there. Slow, unfriendly service with average food. We ordered nachos; they came out with our meals. Food was meh, nothing special, and the nachos were decidedly below average. Will not go back when we return to D.C.
