Torrisi is a boutique tasting room located on Mulberry Street in Manhattan that specializes in Italian-American cuisine. Opening in 2010, Torrisi has matured into one of the city's most acclaimed restaurants. In 2012, Torrisi received a Michelin Star and was also named the #1 Italian Restaurant in the City by NY Magazine.

Using exclusively domestic products, Torrisi has cultivated a dining experience that pays homage to the history and culture of New York City while remaining distinctly Italian-American in philosophy and technique. Torrisi offers a Nine Course Tasting Menu: available for lunch and dinner. This dynamic restaurant continues to grow and change. It continues to push the boundaries of what Italian-American cuisine means, and to redefine the traditional paradigms of fine dining.

Eating here was like friggin' Christmas--every course a new and awesome present, each one better than the last. Yes, change is inevitable; I'm still sad this version of Torrisi will soon be something else.

The food was beautiful and light, expertly prepared. Very inventive in it's use of ingredients, creating very complex flavours and textures. Service was lovely, warm and tiny bit formal so that it doesn't feel cloying of claustophobic in their small space.

I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and we really enjoyed our dining experience at Torrisi. When we entered the restaurant we were greeted promptly and taken to our table. Keep in mind that this is a very, very small restaurant, with about 14 tables so it may seem a bit cramped with tables so close together-my bf and I even spoke to the couple next to us, who were also there to celebrate a birthday (and I do recommend this restaurant for special occasions!). The 9 courses we had were great, we didn't feel incredibly stuffed afterward but we were certainly satisfied! The service was fantastic as the waiter was very attentive and was able to recommend a good red wine for us-it was about $215 for the bottle, but worth it (I must find out the name of this wine!). The 9 courses for $100pp were good and I recommend it all! My fav dishes of the night were the mixed grill and the salmon cannelloni, they even brought out a piece of cake with a lit candle for my bf's brithday. highly recommend!

Just a lovely experience! Creative but non-fussy food served in an old New York setting. It has few tables, so be sure to reserve a few days ahead. The price is more than fair considering the quality, and the staff is welcoming and professional.

My husband and I ate here several years ago. At that time there were no reservations. The menu was less elaborate, but delicious. I was excited to take guest there, but it was was very very diapointing. Did not know the menu would be so "fancy". I thought we would be having dinner in a delicious homey Italian kitchen style restaurant. The food wasn't that special and "fancy"does not mean $100.00.We were surprised when 2 veal terrine was served for 4 people.. We were expected to cut them in half and share? Really! Again, when desert was served, ONE skinny piece to share! Will not be back... Very disappointed!

How this place has a Michelin star is beyond me. It took them a good 15 minutes to bring us a wine list, while we sat there being ignored with nothing but water. Several of the courses were absurdly salty. The only dish that really satisfied was the pasta which was wonderful. The worst was the squab, which couldn't get down and actually had to spit out. To finish off the evening, they made us wait over 20 minutes after we gave them our credit cards due to "Internet issues" that prevented them from running the cards. Overall, a shockingly bad dining experience. If you are going to spend $300+ for dinner, do it somewhere else. NYC is loaded with amazing restaurants. In this lifelong NYC resident's view, this establishment isn't one of them.

We had the tasting menu. The food was delicious- really perfect. They catered to my inability to eat seafood. The staff was knowledgable and very kind. They really worked as a team. It was such a wonderful experience! If I had to say one thing... I would love them to perk up their dessert- perhaps something more creative and decadent. We will return again and again!

My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary, and dinner at Torrisi made it one of our most memorable ever. From the minute we walked in the door to the small, charming room we were made to feel at home. The staff was friendly and engaging, and were great with the wine recommendations. But of course the highlight was the food. Nine courses, perfectly sized, each one creative and delicious. If offered, order the wagyu beef special, it was fabulous. A truly special night.

What a pleasure...Torrisi is so New York and yet, not New York. The food is spectacular, but definitely not a typical Italian meal. Each course was sublime, flavorful and beautifully prepared and presented. The service is outstanding and even though it's a typically small NYC restaurant, the noise level was low and you could talk. We were there celebrating our 4th Anniversary. We loved that we spent our evening at Torrisi.

I would view our experience at Torrisi not so much as "dining", but as a tour of the culinary arts, with our plates as the artist's canvas. Imaginative preparations, perfectly executed, served by a knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff. Delightful; not inexpensive.

It's a wonderfully comfortable restaurant for many reasons. I felt almost like I was walking into someone's home -- the warm greetings, the décor, the cozy atmosphere. The service was perfect. The food? Almost heavenly. It's not inexpensive, this set menu, but it is well worth the cost. Each course was almost sublime (with the exception of the very sweet polenta). I would heartily recommend this restaurant and I will definitely return when I am next in New York.

One of the worst service disasters I have experienced. In Torrisi's incredible rush to get a second seating in - even as our check with wine and drinks for two totaled over $400 before tip - they rushed us so much that this Michelin star seemed more like a truckstop diner. Worse, with what is supposed to be a meal of ten very different courses, they served a strong fish-based course simultaneously alongside cheese gnocchi - again to get he table cleared as soon as possible. Anyone who has eaten in the most basic trattoria in Italy (or has tastebuds, for that matter) knows that this is ridiculous. In light of the generally excellent preparations, I am sure that Torrisi's chef and owners would be embarrassed. A real shame.

Amazing meal with inventive original and delicious food. Perfectly attentive and appropriate but not overbearing service. And a reasonable ambiance. Only complaint was the wine list. 200-300x pricing and I think there were 2 bottles of red under $100. To get anything good you had to spend $200+ which really should be. Bit kudos!

People who are disappointed don't understand the art & chemistry of food. The food here is of the highest quality & nuance. I admit that I didn't love everything however I appreciated everything. The food was very rich and although you feel you will not leave full because the servings are small you leave quite filled. The dessert was the weakest course however the 3 amuse bouche were fantastic. A complaint I do have is too many of the courses used tree nuts. The beer selection was a tad lacking and the wine list extremely expensive. This is a place I'd go perhaps once a year but not more. Did I love the place? no, however I highly appreciated the restaurant as a food experience. The service is amazing and the decor is very warm and cute.

Out of a 9 course-tasting menu, only found a couple of courses to be above average, the rest (including dessert and the pastas) where average at best. Very expensive for what it is, not to mention the wine list gives you very few options in a reasonable pricing range. Still can't believe some critics say it's one of the best Italians in NYC, for me not even in the top 10. Even the name is a bit misleading, since many of the courses have very little of Italian.

We loved the meal, but with 9 courses you'd think you'd be satiated afterwards.... unfortunately, most courses were just a nosh or a bite. This may be tasting course, but seriously, it was really a joke. The tables on both sides of us felt the same way, as we were hoping the main course was bigger. It was... it was 4 bites. If the cost is higher due to the labor, which I can imagine, make the portions larger and charge more. I had to get a crepe afterwards down the street because I left hungry. For a $400 bill, I was disappointed.

The food was very good and based on contemporary reinterpretations of Italian/American fare. The tasting menu concept is also something interesting. Service was nice and efficient. The only negative aspect was the very expensive and restrictive wine list - I recommend bringing your own bottle. One to come back for sure.

5 stars for - The wine suggestion from our waiter which was ridiculously spot-on with the entire menu. - The pace of the meal was perfect. - The hospitality (my name tag on the take home petit fours box, they overheard me discuss with my boyfriend that it was his birthday and made sure Happy Birthday was written on our dessert with a candle - such a pleasant surprise.) - The food. Creative, perfectly portioned, delicious. One of the best meals I've had in NYC.

Each dish in the set menu was an experience, at times simply from the original pairing of basic fresh ingredients. My dining companion and I thought that there was an ala carte menu as well as the tasting menu. We are somewhat picky eaters, so tastings aren't for us. When we arrived, we were told that the only choice was a $100 per person tasting menu, and that if we didn't use our reservation, I would be charged $100 on the credit card I used to book the table through OpenTable. There was no negotiating with the staff and all they said is, "We'll try to work with you on food allergies." We were stuck and unhappy, and frankly, they didn't care one bit. Out paraded a series of tiny bites of food with massive attitude-- plating is king here, and you are spending a good deal of your money to pay for all the accessories. I'm never going back...
