Our server was excellent. We basically ordered all hot tapas and everything was way too salty. The Brussels sprouts were way too salty, as was the short rib. The shrimp was tasteless. Our dessert was great. We had the Bumba I think it was called.

Initially, Toro Toro reported to Open Table that I did not even show up to the reservation. I checked in at the host when I arrived and did indeed have dinner there. We went for happy hour which they have several appetizers and drinks available for 1/2 off which is a wonderful deal since they are pretty pricey. We also ordered some entrees as well. The food was delicious, everyone enjoyed all the food that was ordered including the smoke swordfish dip, chorizo croquettes, achiote chicken flatbread, the Korean fried chicken sliders, prime ribeye antichcho, arroz chaufa, and the Miyazaki tartare. After we ordered our drinks it took some time to get our wine and mojitos. We asked for water too which was never brought to us until the server came back some time later and we had to ask again. We ordered our appetizers about 20-30 minutes later because that’s when the server finally returned. All in all the food was very good, service was terrible, we had to ask for things several times and she wouldn’t come back for 15-20 minutes at a time. Tip was of course included.

when using Open Table App make sure the reception credits your points. The Hightop seating area is best for quiet business dining. Main Dining room too noisy, close seating and appears that those seated make mad-dashes to the buffet line. lovely hotel, good and heart healthy meals.

Took teen boys for a good family meal; boys are already foodies. South Florida dressy with collared shirt was thankfully fine. Fantastic small plates were great for us to sample and share. Lively bar area with music near the door made for a great vibe and fun experience. Would be happy also to come here for a date night or with a small group for a great meal. Drinks and dessert were both creative and good, a relatively uncommon combination! Will return if I get the chance.

Although I don’t normally write reviews on places, I had to make an exception this time. I had dinner reservations for Toro Toro and upon arrival I was warmly welcomed with a smile by the host. The ambience was extremely lively for a Thursday night which was comforting and very Miami-ish. We sat within a few minutes and this is where the night just took a pitfall for the worse. After taking our seats, (just a party of 2 FYI) we waited approximately 15 minutes before the waitress noticed us, casually strolled by and offered us water - without an introduction. I can sit here and tell the story of what transpired the entire night but to sum up the evening, the waitress was not attentive, I had to ask for a refill on my glass of water, she was passing by our table every 25 minutes IF that, never offered a refill on our alcoholic beverages until maybe 40 minutes AFTER we finished our first drink, etc. Not to mention the table next to us (also a party of 2) seemed to have a similar problem with her attentiveness or lack there of. We hoped the food could compensate to an extent this lack of service, but when we received our platter the meat (which was requested “medium”) arrived “well done” barely any pink if that, and the asparagus side dish was barely room temperature. The only “redeeming quality” you ask? The lobster Mac and cheese and the gentlemen that came back to retire our dishes and very efficiently packaged our to go box. When the check arrived it was not surprising to see the 18% service charge was already included. Perhaps this is why the service was so sorely lacking, who knows. But I am disappointed with my first experience. I sincerely hope management can become more conscious of issues like these and promptly address them so others can fully enjoy their time at Toro Toro.

Terrible service, the girls seemed upset to be there. They acted as if they were doing you a favor. Mad face on, super comfortable but they enforce an 18% gratuity. Really? I didn’t dispute it because I didn’t want to get into it but the service was not deserving of 10%, much less 18.

Carlos is an excellent server. Very friendly and knowledgeable. As far as food, try the octopus, pork carnitas, meat platter and pork chop. For dessert have the Havano. It will blow your mind.

The food and service were excellent. The starter peach salad was almost large enough to be a main dish. The only negative was the room is rather dark.

Ok, so this might have been our fault because we had somewhat late resos, to which we thought the place would be popping since they we had 9 o’clock resos. We were sat and there was only 4 parties (should have been the first sign). We ordered empanadas and the octopus, empanadas were cold and the guacamole on the bed was brown already, the octopus was rubbery and not well cooked (the green salsa saved it). We then place our wood grill steak order with sides of Mexican style corn and charred Brussels sprouts. As we were waiting for our entrees one of the floor servers comes by and asks if we would like to see the desert menu or have an espresso. Uhhhhh we are still waiting for our entrees. He says sorry and says he’ll check on our items. Meanwhile we’re waiting our server at the beginning, Jahaira has not even bothered to check on us at all, she was only an order taker tsk tsk, Or the other server assistant Orlando.

Finally our entrees arrive and although the steak was juicy, it was soooooo overly salted. My mouth was dry at the end because of how god damn salty it was. I understand the point of seasoning but they over did it. My tongue became raw because of it. Plus the charred Brussels sprouts didn’t help since they were super salted and extra charred. The elote was more lime than anything. Just a horrible experience.

Also will like to point out how If you ask for a Cabernet she will charge you for something different that is the highest price per glass. This is my fault since I should have specified which of the 2 I wanted, which I knew wasn’t the type she rang it under.

Anyways once we were done we asked for the check right away and left, total was $200 we would have tipped extra on top if there was actual service to tip on but nope. And we weren’t the last table out neither!!

If you read this thank you. There are much way better restaurants out there.

We had 2 meals at Toro Toro during our 5-day stay at Intercontinental Hotel Miami and enjoyed the food especially the BBQ/ Grilled meats and seafood. The lamb chops were exquisite and so were the King Prawns.

Music and crowd was a bit noisy though but that could be due to the festive Christmas and New Year mood including the Orange Bowl fever.

On the whole, would highly recommend anyone to try the BBQ/Grilled meats and seafood.
