Located at 100 Chopin Plaza, Toro Toro is celebrated chef/restaurateur Richard Sandoval’s creative Pan-Latin interpretation of a contemporary steakhouse. This sophisticated and sexy concept is modeled after Sandoval’s Dubai Toro Toro, which was named “Best Latin” and “Best New Restaurant” by Time Out. The restaurant’s selection of meats, carved tableside rodizio-style, along with an array of small plates, composed main-plates and a la carte steaks draws foodies while Toro Toro’s buzz-worthy bar, emphasizing Latin-inspired cocktails made with ultra-premium Latin spirits and a well-curated collection of fine wines from around the world, draws the cocktail crowd. Our server was excellent. We basically ordered all hot tapas and everything was way too salty. The Brussels sprouts were way too salty, as was the short rib. The shrimp was tasteless. Our dessert was great. We had the Bumba I think it was called.

Initially, Toro Toro reported to Open Table that I did not even show up to the reservation. I checked in at the host when I arrived and did indeed have dinner there. We went for happy hour which they have several appetizers and drinks available for 1/2 off which is a wonderful deal since they are pretty pricey. We also ordered some entrees as well. The food was delicious, everyone enjoyed all the food that was ordered including the smoke swordfish dip, chorizo croquettes, achiote chicken flatbread, the Korean fried chicken sliders, prime ribeye antichcho, arroz chaufa, and the Miyazaki tartare. After we ordered our drinks it took some time to get our wine and mojitos. We asked for water too which was never brought to us until the server came back some time later and we had to ask again. We ordered our appetizers about 20-30 minutes later because that’s when the server finally returned. All in all the food was very good, service was terrible, we had to ask for things several times and she wouldn’t come back for 15-20 minutes at a time. Tip was of course included.

when using Open Table App make sure the reception credits your points. The Hightop seating area is best for quiet business dining. Main Dining room too noisy, close seating and appears that those seated make mad-dashes to the buffet line. lovely hotel, good and heart healthy meals.

Took teen boys for a good family meal; boys are already foodies. South Florida dressy with collared shirt was thankfully fine. Fantastic small plates were great for us to sample and share. Lively bar area with music near the door made for a great vibe and fun experience. Would be happy also to come here for a date night or with a small group for a great meal. Drinks and dessert were both creative and good, a relatively uncommon combination! Will return if I get the chance.

Although I don’t normally write reviews on places, I had to make an exception this time. I had dinner reservations for Toro Toro and upon arrival I was warmly welcomed with a smile by the host. The ambience was extremely lively for a Thursday night which was comforting and very Miami-ish. We sat within a few minutes and this is where the night just took a pitfall for the worse. After taking our seats, (just a party of 2 FYI) we waited approximately 15 minutes before the waitress noticed us, casually strolled by and offered us water - without an introduction. I can sit here and tell the story of what transpired the entire night but to sum up the evening, the waitress was not attentive, I had to ask for a refill on my glass of water, she was passing by our table every 25 minutes IF that, never offered a refill on our alcoholic beverages until maybe 40 minutes AFTER we finished our first drink, etc. Not to mention the table next to us (also a party of 2) seemed to have a similar problem with her attentiveness or lack there of. We hoped the food could compensate to an extent this lack of service, but when we received our platter the meat (which was requested “medium”) arrived “well done” barely any pink if that, and the asparagus side dish was barely room temperature. The only “redeeming quality” you ask? The lobster Mac and cheese and the gentlemen that came back to retire our dishes and very efficiently packaged our to go box. When the check arrived it was not surprising to see the 18% service charge was already included. Perhaps this is why the service was so sorely lacking, who knows. But I am disappointed with my first experience. I sincerely hope management can become more conscious of issues like these and promptly address them so others can fully enjoy their time at Toro Toro.
