Wonderful service and great food.
Live music night, yet not great unless you like "Labamba". Not at all what was expected. Rum bar, was your average bar with only a few rum cocktails featured. I would have thought they would have a nice menu for rum drinks. Not so, however bar tenders were very nice. Food ok but overpriced and not very extensive. A disappointment overall and will not return.
Dinner plans brought us to Toro to celebrate family and friends for a special reunion. We were not disappointed. We sat outside and had a great view of the sunset, overlooking the golf course. The food was terrific, from the seafood/sushi/Su-Viche type appetizers to the grilled seafood and mixed grilled platter. We paired it with a bottle of BR Cohn Cab, but the menu offered more red selections from Argentina to Spain that would have been just as awesome. Finished with dessert (nothing really to write home about) and espresso and an 8 yr old sipping rum that was the perfect finish to a great family get together. BTW, the live band was awesome with salsa, cha-cha, and meringue beats and rhythms; they just didn't play long enough. Restaurant closes early (9pm) for a Saturday evening. The service was mostly attentive, but not disruptive. Thank you for a wonderful evening Toro and Staff.
The staff was extremely friendly and professional. We loved the live music and the menu was different, tasty, and interesting. I would strongly suggest that the restaurant publish this is not in the Fairmont Hotel, but has it's own parking area outside of the hotel. We are locals and were not amused by having to board a van to the restaurant. Our vehicle had already been valeted. We will certainly return to this location!
Was pleased to find live Spanish guitarists playing in the dining room when we arrived on Valentines Day. Very pleasant setting, VERY attentive wait staff, we both enjoyed this place. I found the menu lacking in vegetarian options, so ordered sushi rolls which were very good. Husband ordered rib eye, and enjoyed it.
Absolutely a great dinner. Made a special night even better!
The drinks are pricy and small but the food is to die for.
I just discovered this restaurants week ago and I’ve been there twice. I brought my friend there to discover the food. she’s having a lot of company soon , she loved it. For me so far my favorite dish is the Sea Bass ceviche .
Awesome! Our server Sean was great and the live music was a big plus!!
Lovely restaurant with a unique menu.
A must if you stop by the course...the menu is amazing. It was hard to decide what to order. We split the Tuna roll and a burger. Both were great. The view of the course is amazing. The inside area is nice too. There were two people playing acoustic guitar and singing when we were there on a Sunday afternoon. They made the experience even better!
We went for lunch. There were so many good things on the menu. It was hard to decide what to order. We had the tuna, salad, the fried rice, and the beef tacos. All were amazing! Highly recommend.
The menu boasts latin inspired cuisine from an amazing grilled avacodo to sushi rolls with cilantro and jalapeno. We were very happy to have made the drive as the meals and service were top notch.
This was our second time dining and we were disappointed with the service this time. We had the same server but she seemed to be busy with a large party inside the restaurant (we were outside). The food was still good, but the service was a huge disappointment.
Toro never disappoints, even on a major holiday. So many fine restaurants suffer when pushed to capacity by a major holiday, in this case, New Year's Eve. But not Toro! Service, food and drink quality, the entire experience was special, despite the sheer volume of diners. Kudos to Toro.
Awesome time with a group of 8
Second visit, this time for brunch. Great views of mountains and TPA golf course. Excellent service. Multiple menu options (brunch menu begins at 10 am). Enjoyed our dishes.
Admittedly wary of Toro after having a poor experience at La Hacienda, but our experience did not disappoint. Celebrated an anniversary here. Enjoyed drinks at the lively bar ahead of dinner. Menu reflected local flavors and dishes. Food preparation and quality was great. Service was excellent. Views of the mountains on one side, and the golf course and sunset on the other. Highly recommend. Returned again for Saturday brunch.
We went to this place based on the great reviews online and quite frankly it was an awful experience. Everything was seasoned oddly, and all the sauces were way too sweet. We ordered the crunchy shrimp and surf and turf roll. The shrimp was way too heavily breaded and inedible because of how salty it was. The roll was blah. We also ordered three entrees, including the miso cod and the Christmas special. Both of them had sauces that overpowered the meat and fish- it was just too sweet and odd tasting. We are not picky eaters so this was a thoroughly disappointing time for everyone. Not to mention the price is way too high for the quality of food they have to offer.
Quality of food was good, customer service was excellent but food was overpriced for what you get, especially on the appetizers.
Our server ruined our Xmas eve experience. Totally unprofessional, eye rolling, entrees came out before appetizers, blamed the kitchen for her mistakes. Shouldn’t be employed at a higher end establishment. The manager took drinks/appetizers off the bill once we talked to her. Food was great though. And the busboy Nick was exceptional. He should be the server.
Each of our 4 entrees were delicious. The variety of menu items and the attention to quality is commendable. Nice atmosphere also
It was my birthday and the coldest day of the year in Phoenix. We were cold because we were given the table with our backs to the large open entrance door and then the waiter never told us the sauce served with the bread was spicy or that the calamari we ordered included fried jalapeños. Both times my mouth and throat were burned and I coughed for a very long time pretty much ruining my experience. The place seems nice with an interesting menu, but I’d be reluctant to retry it for myself or recommend d it to others because of my experience .
The food was delicious but the service was horrible. I think our server forgot about us and didn’t even refill our drinks all evening.
The Rum menu at Toro did not disappoint! We were enticed to go to Toro because we wanted to take the tour of “Christmas at The Princess”... The “suviche” was some of the best tasting sushi ever. Generous portion, one roll can be easily shared. And the flamenco guitar combo was very pleasant... I was happy that it lasted for more than just one or two sets. It’s easy to drop a fair bit of money, especially if you try the rum tastings. But it was a beautiful experience!
The food was great! The server was very friendly. I would go back again.
First time there and the experience was superb. Huge selection of Rum and a knowledgeable staff to guide you in your selection
Excellent food and service by our waiter Sean. We went there for a casual, anniversary dinner, and will be sure to return again. The tables are rather close to each other so we were initially subjected to a rather loud conversation from an adjacent diner. Fortunately, they departed after our appetizer course, and we enjoyed the remainder of our evening. Many thanks to our waiter for the complimentary, delicious dessert, it was most thoughtful.
What should have been an excellent dinner turned out to be fair to good.
Went to dinner with another couple. Sat down right away. The place is bright with nice ambience, but can get load due to the large glass windows that look out on to the golf course
It too a while for the waiter to come over and he was quite jovial, and was more of a salesman, than a wait person. We ordered several appetizers and waited to order our entrees, so we could sit and talk. The appetizers arrived; crunchy shrimp roll and ceviche mixo. The shrimp roll was ok, not much taste and the ceviche was a bit spicy, but I loved it. Someone ordered the chicken soup, was good, but a bit to plain for my taste.
It took a while for our waiter to find us again and we ordered the cod, short rib, latin skirt steak and paella special, plus the pork belly Mac and cheese. The entrees took a while. All arrived cool not hot and the skirt steak went back and they forgot the mac and cheese. By the time the skirt steak re-emerged from the kitchen everyone else was about done. It was only marginally better and a bit touch, skirt steak tends to be. I suggest if you order it, get it medium so the little extra cooking has a bit more time to break it down.
In the end the short rib was very tasty as was the mac and cheese. The other dish’s were ok, but nothing to write home about. We passed on the deserts which did sounded good and were a bit of a hard sell, too.
For the price it’s over rated, but it’s a place to see and be seen.
Wonderful experience! Our waitress was amazing and the general manager was truly wonderful! I love when staff authentically care and love what they do.
