Celebration
Everything was fantastic - from service to food! We loved it!
Entertaining guests indoors during a pandemic is a difficult matter, but Toppers had it all covered. Molecule air movers, properly spaced tables, very attentive but safely delivered food and beverages by properly donned wait staff. The food was absolutely delicious, and very beautifully presented. This is a "special occasions" place, but worth it.
Topper’s was recommended by our hotel concierge and I saw it was a highly rated restaurant on Nantucket so we wanted to try it. We went for dinner and the restaurant was very nice, we enjoyed the warm fire in the fireplace. The ambience is very nice and a great place for special occasions. We enjoyed going out and seeing the sun set before our dinner. For appetizers we had the oysters that are farm raised right in front of the hotel and they were excellent. My wife enjoyed the the squash soup and rated it very highly. We also enjoyed the bread, especially the rich brown bread and very creamy butter. For our entrees we had the burger and the salmon, the burger was very good and the salmon....well it was a little disappointing for this caliber restaurant. It was a bit “fishy” tasting and not up to a 5 star standard. Based off of this one experience, I would not recommend the salmon but it may have been a one off problem. Since it was our anniversary they brought us a nice plate with Happy Anniversary written in chocolate and 2 brownie bites which was a nice touch. The service was very good and the staff very friendly.
Overall, I probably would not go again, not because it wasn’t good, it just didn’t seem like a “wow” experience that I would have expected for the 5 star rating and the price.
As usual, one of the very best restaurants on Nantucket. The food is always delicious and beautifully prepared, the service is always excellent and the decor is perfection. This year there were some changes due to the pandemic. They didn't offer the usual tasting menus, which we always love. However, the selection of dishes was very good and the food was wonderful. We look forward to coming back next year, and hopefully the tasting menu will return.
Superb! Food. Service. Ambience. Everything was outstanding!
An outstanding evening of delicious, attractively presented food by a waitstaff who were sensitive to our pace but always nearby when needed.
The outdoor seating was wonderful. The service was great.
We both had the Lobster roll that had enough Lobster for another meal. They were delicious. Highly recommend. This was a great meal with service, ambiance and food.
Unbeatable setting. Be sure to time if for sunset and/or drinks on the lawn before dinner. Lobster cavetetri was to die for. Great starters too. Just very pricey.
This place is a little hidden gem in Nantucket and it makes the far trip from the town center worth it. It is beautifully located near the beach and surrounded by plants. The food is rather pricey yet absolutely delicious. I ordered the Foie Gras and it was incredible. Our waiter at times forgot of our table a lot but apart from that everything was perfect. Don’t forget to catch the free bus ride from the hotel lobby next to the restaurant back to the city town! Ubers will often cancel on you if you order them from way over there.
Magical is all I can say! Everything was absolutely perfect. I’m so glad we chose to sit outside .. the autumn breeze, the little lights.. the food was simply exquisite. Our waiter Alex a delight. We can never get enough of this place!
Ate on their patio mid afternoon. The endive salad and crab cakes were delicious. Beautiful view. Our server was not very friendly but our overall experience was still good.
Food was ok. Waitress was super nice. View and sunset were gorgeous. Wasn’t thrilled to hear the waitress ask the manager if she could turn on our heat lamp and he said to wait for another couple to get there so they didn’t waste gas. Guy at hotel was awesome and helpful in getting us an Uber/shuttle ride home.
Great Ambiance.
Beautiful presentation.
Fine wine and champagne selection.
excellent- 5 stars!
Shabby Chic Glamour, excellent food, romantic atmosphere. Exactly what one should have when in Nantucket.
Great ambiance. Good food. Unfortunately we waited almost 10 minutes for anyone to acknowledge we were there. Hostess didn’t apologize for the wait. Waiters passed us without looking in our direction. A smile or some Type of acknowledgement would have made all the difference.
Wonderful dining experience. Everything was amazing. Can’t wait to go back for another meal at TOPPER’S. Delightful.
The food was yummy (chicken was favorite the steak then agnolotti and finally scallops). Drinks were good and service was up and down. Guess maybe covid may come into play.
Wonderful ambiance! Toppers followed all regulated COVID-19 guidelines for social distancing and cleanliness. Outdoor seating was beautiful with heaters placed throughout.
Anniversary
It was... okay. The food was not impressive, either in flavor or presentation. The service was professional, but didn't make up for the disappointing meal. All in all, we can't recommend it. We chose to cancel a second reservation we had for later in the weekend.
Went for a lunch outdoors recently with another couple and ate on the patio overlooking the ocean. They have expanded their outdoor seating during COVID and have a number of different areas outdoors with abundant space and a fantastic setting. Food and service were fantastic!
Great experience. Amazing food and drink in a beautiful setting!
Beautiful location. Great food! Especially the black pepper lobster pasta. And delicious lemon drop martinis!
Always a favorite. Everything was on pointe. Salads, crab cake, scallops were fresh and deliciously prepared
What a beautiful spot! We had a wonderful relaxing lunch with staggered courses. Where else can you enjoy amazing oyster 500 yards from where they are cultivated? The single drawback was that the main courses were not as rich and flavorful. Lobster salad needed a bit more seasoning. Our server was delightful and explained all the options perfectly. The quiet garden is serene and beautiful. Well done! Bravo!
Such a fantastic restaurant. Dinner was absolutely delicious! The view was spectacular. Totally worth the splurge!
Don't let customers book a 10:15 under the assumption that they'll get Sunday Brunch, but the brunch menu doesn't start until 11:30. It wasn't a luxurious brunch on the water, it was a hotel breakfast.
On top of that, no one returned multiple phone calls to answer questions about the reservation, which had they been answered, we probably would've skipped the $300 hotel breakfast.
The experience is nice and relaxing on the porch or lawn is great.
The $125 Wagyu beef was the worst meal I've had on Nantucket. Had to send it back when it came out cold. Server was inattentive. Numerous calls to food and beverage manager to discuss have gone unanswered. Terrible experience. Save your money, there are much better restaurants on island.
Lovely dinner on the deck. The halibut dish was as good as any meal I’ve had on the Island (and that’s a high bar) and our servers were extremely pleasant. Couldn’t have been better.
We came for our 1 year anniversary that we had at the Wauwinet, everyone was still amazing! We’ll always come back!
We had reservations at 9:45a Sunday morning for 4 people. We waited a few moments while the table we were going to be seated in had to be cleared. I noticed that after the previous patrons left, only a table cloth cleaner was used to wipe down the table, I was surprised that no disinfecting solution was sprayed on the table or chairs. The table was set we were seated, and beverages were ordered. The Mimosas and coffee were delivered
but, we had to wait a while for cream/sugar. Trying to get someone's attention during that time was difficult, as we could not get anyone to make eye contact with us. My concern was when the cream and sugar were delivered from the "coffee bar" next to us, which was open for general take out, our cream was uncovered and had been sitting there for a while. My husbands coffee curdled as he put the cream in, after getting on of the waiters'attention he very off-handedly said it couldn't be, as it was put out that morning. Not only did he not bother to check his cup, but never offered to replace it. We did enjoy the breakfast items, and asked for more coffee. As my husband finished his coffee, we found the bottom of the cup filled with coffee grounds. This is not directed as a complaint, but an observation. During our COVID-19 precautionary measures I was disappointed with the lack of disinfectant used initially, serving an uncovered container of cream, the lack of attention with servers, and the sloppy cup of coffee served. I was disappointed overall, the Wauwinet is one of the finer restaurants on Nantucket and we walked away not feeling we did not get what we paid for.
Topper’s is a favorite spot. Disappointingly, the quality of the lunch food is suffering under the pandemic.
The outside terrace needs investment to reach the heights of look and comfort that it ought to have. It should incorporate the priceless view.
The staff is doing an admirable job of soldiering through with warmth and friendship.
We look forward to dramatic improvement in the menu, and quality of the food in the future. Under the current circumstances, we appreciate management’s efforts. Staying open is a public service. We look forward to better days ahead for Topper’s and it’s guests.
Tremendous food, convenient since we stayed at the hotel, and exceptionally friendly and accommodating staff.
Honeymoon!
Based on past visits, food was not as exciting. But we understand the impact of the pandemic on the restaurant. Service was outstanding.
Overall I won’t come again or recommend. The servers were all nice but had no clue about state regulations, provided incorrect information, were under staffed a s so tables and chairs were not cleaned quickly or at all. Food was underwhelming.
For the price and connection to Relais Chateaux it was significantly underwhelming. I understand covid
Is hard but they clearly don’t respect their staff or customers by opening with a shell crew.
