Topaz Ratings and Reviews
Great place but the table we were seated at was right by the kitchen entrance so it was really loud from the dishes and talking from staff running in and out. There was a curtain but it was pushed open so it made it unappealing. However service and food was great and will try again hoping for a better seat.
Topaz was not up to the standard set by its sister restaurant Amber. The server, even when aware of my wife's dietary restrictions, was not helpful in identifying options for the meal. We were significantly un-attended to, and the food was ok, but not great.
Topaz was wonderful! Not only was the food fantastic, but the service was exceptional. We had a delicious fried lobster tail and burrata as an appetizer, and the risotto and amazing scallops. Cindy our server was fantastic and made wonderful recommendations and made us feel at home. All the staff was very attentive. I look forward to going back to Topaz.
We enjoy Topaz for special occasions and summer outdoor dining. Our Saturday night dinners were excellent and fun for us with the new fall menu. My husband enjoyed the Short Ribs and I had the 8 oz. Hanger steak. We loved the Grilled Octopus appetizer as well. There are some other new items on the menu that we want to try so we will be back soon to try those.
I liked Topaz and I'm giving it 3 stars because it's a bit on the expensive side but it's fun and relaxing. Food is good. Drinks are good although they didn't have citron absolut vodka... huh? I hope they were just out... I will go back but it's not going to be a "go to" at the price point.
Topaz is one of our favorites! It is our first choice to celebrate special occasions and a great spot for summer patio dining. My favorite is the scallops prepared the white fish way and a caesar salad to start. Everyone is very attentive and friendly. It's a classy dining experience!
Great value. Food was very good and service was amazing. We all had different plates and not one of them would I hesitate to order again. Excellent and we will be back again. General Manager, I think he's the owner is very friendly and very attentive for you to have a great experienc. Not our first time and definitely not our last
We are regular customers and for first time did not care for the food.ordered the special halibut which did not taste very fresh and had a tasteless pumpkin sauce, swiss chard on the side seemed like a complete afterthought and it was inedible. The " apple salad " on top was just a few slices of ordinary apple. The whole meal was disjointed. Not sure if there was a new chef on board? I would suggest this meal never be on the special again! We will be back based on many years of great dining at Topaz.
Topaz misses every mark by "just that much." It's almost fine dining, but not. Of the three of us dining, only one liked their meal... the pork chop. The strip steak special was flavorless and chewy. The smoked mozzarella ravioli was just oddly presented, in an awkward soupy broth, and not good at all
I mentioned it was my husbands birthday at the hostess stand when we checked in. I saw the hostess write it down, but no mention was ever made of it again... nothing. This was very disappointing, as we could've gone elsewhere for dessert, except that I was expecting a candle and some acknowledgement at the very least.
A male waiter greeted our table, said he would be our waiter and handed out wine and cocktail menus. About five minutes later a female arrived, surprised we already had menus and said she would be our server. She made no mention of the first waiter.
When the entrees came out, as mentioned, I ordered the ravioli. She brought out some bow tie pasta, and I had to point out that it was the wrong meal. So we waited for the correct dish.
Finally, we had pan and cotta for dessert. If you've ever had this prepared properly, you know how silky smooth this should be. At Topaz, it was not. It had a texture to it that was simply "off."
In sum, we will not be returning... too many other good places to spend our money.
Our rude waitress was tip of the iceberg. Braised beef gnocchi was not even palatable, mush dough and chunks of fatty meat covered in a Salsbury steak type sauce. I pushed my full plate away from me, waitress never came back to check on us. It's too bad bc the sister restaurant in westmont is awesome. This place was a huge waste of money and time.
Food at Topaz is very good. I think the reason I did not give it four stars is that we had terrible service. Our one hour meal turned into three!!!!! We sat for an hour with drinks. We did not order appetizers. Our main course arrived cold. My asparagus was inedible - I could not cut through it at all. Then we waited another 1/2 hour for our plates to be removed. We ordered one dessert to share among 4 people and coffee. Our coffee arrived, we drank it all, and then much later our desserts arrived. Then another long wait for the check, then taking the check, returning the credit card, you get the idea. It was a LONG night. If not for the service, my steak was tasty. By this kind of service is not acceptable.
Topaz is a great restaurant. It is my favorite spot to go in the summer. The outdoor patio is amazing. Topaz is one of the few who guarantee outside seating when you ask for it. The patio is heated and covered, so you can sit out there rain or shine. The food is creative and excellently seasoned. The only problem is the service. Water glasses remain empty. There is never enough butter for your bread. Finding your waiter can be a challenge.
