Went here two nights ago for our 35th wedding anniversary. Had a lovely time.
Our waitress, Lisa, did an excellent job.
Shared a TOR salad which was delicious.
Shared the Alaskan Halibut which was okay; a bit over cooked and sauce was too sweet, but portion was good for price. Would not order again, though.
The bread and wine were delicious.
Views were breathtaking.
Very romantic and relaxing.
After dinner we toured the stunning resort then had a drink outside the hotel lobby lounge. We will return here for drinks and appetizers; it's very comfortable and cozy and we can watch baseball.
The food is great, the views are amazing and it is a special place.
You gotta try the chicken & doughnuts appetizer!
It was our Anniversary
The restaurant was beautiful
And waitress was great
Only issue food was cold.
This place was wonderful and our server Neysa was such a treat! Let’s not forget the view!
We had the pleasure of dining at Top of the Rock this week during our visit to Phoenix. The views were slightly diminished by blowing sand, but were still very nice. On a clear night the views must be spectacular. Our server, Lisa, was awesome!! She may great recommendations and was very attentive. Our experience was made even better by Sal, an 18 yr veteran of Top of the Rock, who never let our water glasses get more than half empty. Dishes were cleared and replaced almost immediately including fresh flatware. The food was great too. It sounds weird, but DO NOT pass on the Chicken and Doughnuts appetizer. It's wonderful. Three different kinds of bread were great accents to our meal. We asked for a few substitutions in our meals and were accommodated with grace by Lisa and the Chef. We always appreciate being able to change or add our favorite sides without having to beg or negotiate. If you live in Phoenix and haven't gone to Top of the Rock, GO! If you are visiting, don't miss it.
Recommended by a friend and went for business dinner and two of the three are from California. My drink and food was delicious. Over-all, great service, drinks, food and view.
1. The restaurant. Decor was dated. Air conditioning was blasting and the guests were visibly cold. I had to ask the waiter to turn it off. Our food was ice cold within 3 minutes. 2 stars.
2. Service. The staff were very friendly and service was excellent. Never went without a drink and dirty plates were promptly removed when done being used. 4 stars.
3. The food. I ordered the duck my fiancee ordered pork tenderloin. Both our dishes came out completely over cooked. Its not a ridiculously expensive restuarant but still at 20-30$ plus a plate I expect the cooks to know how a certain dish is to be prepared. Especially when we requested it as such 1 star.
Overall it serves as a cute place to go to once for the view and to have a drink. But other than that it just feels as though you are eating at an overpriced hotel restaurant, not a fine dinning establishment. I imagine the guests who order room service probably get the same quality of food. Save your time and money. Go someplace else.
Gorgeous view, food was good as well. Wish there were nicer tables outside and heaters. Still would go back
My server was great!
I came in expecting a romantic surprise for two. The two ended up not happening but my servers hospitality was remarkable and her support was caring. While she took great care of me, she was understanding and was delighted to make this one time experience more to come.
The views of this restaurant are outstanding. However, I am unlikely to return as the prices are really high for what you get. I don't mind paying a high price if it is for a special occasion, but then I expect very high quality food with excellent presentation to make it feel special. Now, my very expensive steak was served on a large white empty plate. No garnish, no sauce, just a piece of steak (the side dish came on a separate plate). It tasted nice enough, but not worth $50 (including side dish). We both had desserts which weren't very special either. My husband had the brussel sprouts as side dish and these were to die for by the way!
I arrived early for a 5pm reservation and the hostess did not want to seat me or, as I noticed other diners either, at the premium tables despite only one other occupied table in the restaurant. This is something I am immediately turned off by even before the meal is served. I tried to keep an open mind with a view of a Butte and not the skyline no one else was enjoying and I was not worthy to sit and enjoy. I ordered the NY strip steak medium and it was served well done. While there were many servers checking on the tables, I did wait for 10 minutes after my food was served before someone was noticeable to tell them. Once aware, they were very apologetic and I ordered the halibut, a composed dinner which was served quickly but the remaining side items and bread tray were not removed until I asked for them to be cleared. The halibut was salty and the sauce on the plate too sweet, but at this point, I just wanted to finish my dinner so I didn't say anything. The manager did stop by and also offer an apology for the error in the food preparation. The restaurant did offer a dessert of ice cream to end the meal on a happy note. Not the 5 star experience I was expecting.
Have been there 10+ times. Food was excellent - although we ordered the Thai shrimp appetizer, but the waiter instead delivered "complementary chicken doughnuts". This would have been my LAST appetizer option (since I don't eat either chicken or doughnuts) we should have been given our choice or. Although it was early and mid week, the service was not good.
Took a drive to Phoenix to visit a friend from California and she had been wanting to visit this restaurant so we decided to try it. Let me say that it was OUTSTANDING, from the great view of Phoenix to the great food. Highly recommend it !!! You won't regret it.
Beautiful scenery, very pleasant outdoor seating.
We enjoyed our dinner, the setting, and server very much. We were in town for a wedding, and wanted to share the sunset with a few of the guests before leaving town in order to spend more time with them. We used OpenTable to make the reservation for 4 people on the deck at 5:30, then later I tried to add 2 more via OpenTable, but couldn't find a way to add to an existing reservation, so just made another reservation for 2 more. When it looked like 4 more might join us, I called the restaurant voicemail after hours and left a message to add to the reservation up to 10 people. Then when we finalized our count at 6, I called the restaurant to cancel the other 4, and confirm the 6 on the patio. We were told the 2 were inside while the 4 were outside, and there was no way to put us all on the deck. So we 6 ate inside the empty restaurant (Sunday evening) while several tables sat empty out on the deck the entire time we were there. This would never have happened had we been able to talk old-school to a human being. So our only disappointments in the evening came via the OpenTable app, and the young (perhaps inexperienced) hostess who made no effort to make adjustments once tables didn't fill on the deck.
Very nice ambiance and great service! We had a reservation on the terrace overlooking Phoenix watching the sunset and enjoying the many torches that were lit after dark. Excellent food was presented as beautiful art work with an original touch.
Beautiful restaurant with great atmosphere. Food was beautiful and delicious, but a few things were a bit off, like too much salt on the filet mignon, and a potato cake with a halibut dish. Recommend the duck. Waiter was very good.
Went there to have a nice Easter dinner. It was a brunch, (knew that) and was 60 bucks a person. Crab legs were good but needed to ask specially for melted butter, strange that it was not there.
Also the prime rib, Ham, and Turkey were very bland. No flavors to think of.
Waitress was very nice, I have no issue with the service at all. Just no flavors. I was very disappointed
I am normally not a complainer, but my wife and I expected more.
This was a fantastic location with a very nice buffet for Easter. I will definitely return again. The food was excellent and there was a variety of food available.
Great atmosphere and excellent food. The staff was amazing and the scenery was the breathtaking. We went for Easter Brunch and the experience will bring us back next year!
We went for Easter brunch and it was phenomenal! The food was very good - excellent healthy options as well as comfort food. We were able to sit outside and the view was great! The service was top notch. Would definitely go again
The food wasn't very flavorful, kind of bland. The service was okay, but not great. For the price of our meal I was disappointed.
We had fun! Staff was very attentive. Food was good. Nice view overlooking Phoenix. Beautiful sunset.
I ordered the Ny Strip medium and my wife had the pork entree, our sides were the potatoes and brussel sprouts. The steak was was moist and dry and just a not so great piece of meat, my wife enjoyed her entree but her side (potatoes) were not all cooked properly. We had the chicken and doughnuts app, which was the best item to me along with the drinks. Overall, I didn’t have an above average dinner but had an above average check.
We visited this restaurant on a Thursday night with friends and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. We requested outdoor seating and the views were amazing. Our server was another highlight. She was engaging, fun, knew the menu well and made great recommendations! Service was impeccable! The food was delicious as well! We enjoyed the Arctic char and two in our party enjoyed steaks! The overall experience was great and hope to do it again in the future!
This was one of the most disappointing restaurant visits in the last years. I came here with high expectations, but was just disappointed. May items on the menu were not available, food was cold and tasteless. Meat was either under or overcooked. Can not recommend.
Awesome experience from the moment we entered to the time we lefts. The best steak and I loved the halibut. Our server was attentive and personable. We have been raving about this place to all our family and friends. Definitely a “go to” place for special occasions. Outstanding!!!!!
I can’t say enough about the view and service. The specialt cocktails were yummy as well.
I was disappointed with my dinner. I ordered the curried cauliflower with Nan. Expecting a sauce dish that I could eat with the nan. It was a half head of cauliflower dusted with curry powder steamed on a tablespoon of yogurt with very dry nan.
I didn’t ask the others as not to open a can of worms.
Mignon and cod fish dry. House wine not cold enough and tasted cheap. Boring marbled potatoes. Much too expensive for poor quality, poorly cooked food. Very disappointed for $240.00.
Went there for my husband's 50th birthday. Had never been there before. Views were great. Salads were mediocre, but the main courses were delicious. Wait staff was super friendly and met all of our needs really well.
Dined here twice during our stay and found service to be spotty and forgetful both times. The consistency in the quality of the food was just not there - the same steak ordered the same way came out either very well done or blue-rare (supposed to be medium) and dishes had to be returned for being completely charred. A hotel of this caliber should really have cooks who can do something as basic as properly cook a steak. That’s quite embarrassing for them. Nice wine list, though. And view.
Took 10 minutes for a server to greet us after being seated. My drink was wrong when brought to the table. Filet was good, Duck wasn’t anything to write home about. For the money, I expected more attentiveness from the waitstaff, food was pretty much on par but was hoping for above average.
I was under the impression that the restaurant was a nice place where you should dress up and have an elegant night out. I quickly found this not to be the case. With one patron draping herself horizontally across her seat, another flatulent customer in shorts and a t-shirt, and finally countless others in flip flops, Top of the rock felt more like a hole in the rock or perhaps a Chucky Cheeze... or Waffle House? It did not help that the service staff treated us like we had leprosy. I will be sure to keep my future engagements far away from this establishment.
Food took a long time to come out of the kitchen. It was probably 45 minutes or more from the time we ordered until our entrees arrived. Great taste and great views tho!
The view was awesome and the service was great.
More menu options would've been nice.
Pricey, yet casual attire.
Four of us enjoyed a tremendous dining experience to celebrate a birthday. This venue is outstanding! Built into the mountain, boulders exposed, 360-degree view of Phoenix...It is an excellent restaurant, part of the Marriott Tempe at the Buttes hotel. We were so fortunate to have Jacqueline as our waitress, and Eric as her attentive assistant. Food was incredible for all four of us: 2 pork tenderloins, 1 chicken breast, 1 NY strip. Wow...perfection! Everything through to dessert was great, including the presentation, temperature, quality, quantity, attention to detail, timing, level of service, and cleanliness. A delicious Argentinean Malbec and gin martinis rounded out our meal. We couldn't be more pleased with our experience at Top of the Rock, and we will definitely return.
The food and ambience was wonderful. I’m bringing another friend here soon!
Amazing experience! Food was amazing, and beautiful view
