Food and service were amazing. If you go, book an outside table to enjoy the view. unfortunately we chose to stay inside and it was extremely bright, had horrible music and just didn't give the ambience of a top of the mountain 5 star restaurant. Because of the Covid they are not allowing you to select specific tables but pick a non busy night or time and maybe you can get one of the premium outside tables that really showcase the view.
Great view, Great food and wonderful experience. It was my hubby’s birthday and they took care of dessert for us. They made it very special
Great, everything was great!
I totally recommend this place. Always exceptional service and food is amazing!
It was a special night and the restaurant and staff were great. We will definitely go back.
The views were stunning, the food was impeccable. The ambience is retro, which is OK, the server we had was efficient but not overly warm and friendly. All in all, we would come back again. The filet mignon steak I had was one of the best and most tender of my life, even when compared to the finest steakhouses in major cities I’ve traveled to.
great very romantic
book ahead like we did ! fills up fast
Very nice experience: food, atmosphere, music, service.. highly recommend !!
So my girlfriend and I went to dinner here. The view is amazing all around. The restaurant itself was quiet and comfortable. You definitely pay for the view and if this is what you’re looking for I recommend this place. However, we sat inside to avoid the hot Phoenix weather and we were sweating even at our inside table. For dinner, we got the Thai shrimp as an appetizer which was good, my girlfriend got the filet which she loved, but my ribeye was 70% fat and little meat, which I’ve had a better meat cut at Texas Roadhouse. All in all, I would go back, just make sure you get the filet if you’re hungry.
Labor Day girls weekend
Look the same bottle of wine we got was 42 dollars we looked for it and found it was 16 dollars. I cook better steak on my grill. And the view was not all that great.
Dined outside, great views! Good service, nice menu with equal seafood and meat choices. Able to accommodate gluten free easily. Wasn't the best about subbing out asparagus and Brussel sprouts that came with entree as some in our party weren't fans, they prefer you order a side.
outstanding service and food as always. Great views and very careful with respect to COVID.
Showed up 4 minutes before reservation, door was locked, even though website showed that the should have been open for half an hour at that point. Hostess opened and said they were not ready sent us away in 117 degree heat to wait. Returned 15 min. later and were seated. Beautiful restaurant nice server. looked down and found the table was filthy and never cleaned off, most likely from day before. Really not good in this era of Corona Virus. Not to mention in a establishment were dinners range from 30-55.00 per plate. We got up and left. Normally I would have let the very odd and awkward greeting go. I would have asked for a table cleaning also. However this was supposed to be a special evening of fine dining. Really not ok.
Food and type was off. Not good at all. Wait for our food for slickness.
The food was delicious. The views amazing especially at sunset. It’s a very nice place to go and have good conversation, not to loud.
Last Friday night: The food that we ordered was not good. The ravioli appetizer was heavy and all one note: heavy cream, cheese and salt. It needs to be lightened, can benefit from a little acid from lemon as a finisher, Fresh thyme herb. waiter didn’t offer to grind the black pepper on it, just dropped it off at the table and ran off. It reminds me of something you’d see on a 1980’s menu. The summer roll with shrimp was not good. The shrimp was separate from the summer roll and neither worked together on the plate. The cooking method of the shrimp- fried and crunchy and then doused with sweet sauce to make it soggy didn’t work. That sauce did not work with the satay for the summer roll. The summer roll had lettuce and fresh herbs but that’s it. I could care less if I had it. It was all very strange. The dessert we ordered was the earl grey creme brûlée. Not good. The top had a burnt taste and the inside was watery and had blueberries. The flavors didn’t go together. I was very disappointed with all 3 dishes we ordered. After the appetizers, I didn’t want to order an entree. Our waiter was also very rushed and did not attend to us, just rushed past saying “yes miss.” The hostess at front took 3 phone calls and had me standing in front of her while she was taking the calls. My daughter went down to the bathroom and back up in all that time and we still had to wait. It was very rude.
Had an amazing experience here, must try the white truffle butternut squash ravioli!
Top of the Rock was an awesome experience. Guillermo was our was our waiter and he was the best. Food was perfect as was the view from the top. Chicken and Donuts.....if you haven't tried it yet.....put it on your things to do list!
Delicious food good value and great view! Would recommend to anyone.
The food, service and location are outstanding! The whole experience was wonderful! Will be coming back in the fall when it’s cooler to eat outside.
Food was great and the view was outstanding. However, for the price you pay the service was terrible. Don’t know if it’s COVID-19 related and they can’t get staff to work or something else. But they definitely need to pay some attention here.
First time we’ve tried TOR, but after this we will return every time we pass through Tempe!
We dined on 3 apps, 3 drinks, and 2 desserts. Everything was good, but seemed to be a single element from greatness. The Chicken & Donuts needed additional sweetness to keep the good flavor of the chicken (spice) overpowering every other flavor. The butternut squash needed any type of spice to wake up the sweet filling, and the Thai shrimp was the best of the three - but again - only had a sweetness without the slightest bite to really bring it to the next level. The drinks did the job, but I'd suggest asking for light ice as it filled half the glass or more. The Earl Grey Creme Brulee was delicious, but from a texture standpoint, it didn't set and was almost a soup. The Gingerbread Cheesecake covered in chocolate ganache had a good flavor, but seemed to be store-bought or imported from another location. Regardless. In the end, everything was good (or even very good), but just missed greatness.
Great food Helpful staff. And wonderful views Would go again
When I made the reservation I mentioned it was our 10 Anniversary I was assuming it made a little more attention plus my daughter called and wanted us to have a special desert but no one did anything for us we really wanted to try the chicken and doughnuts appetizer they ran out —a little disappointed
Price for the quality is excellent. Food was very flavorful.
Top notch experience as usual! The staff were very attentive and pleasant to deal with. The atmosphere was perfect for a sun set dining experience, and the food was amazing. We took our drinks out to the patio after dinner to enjoy the sunset and we saw a couple get engaged, which was the cherry on top of a romantic evening. Highly recommend!
Server awesome - chef welcoming!
Excellent food and service. Gorgeous views all around!
Amazing views. Food was great. However, the service was slow. We waited 45min to get our food and had a hungry toddler with us. In the beginning, they were refilling waters quick, but then they weren’t paying attention to our table at all. Restaurant was not very busy, so I’m not sure why the food wait. It’s a quite expensive place, so we expected more. We celebrated a birthday and that was noted on the reservation but there was nothing special for us for the occasion.
Ambience is great, but disappointed in the service
Wonderful desert sunset experience with window seating. The food and drinks were absolutely delicious. The service was great as well. We were visiting from CA and we cannot wait to return.
It was incredible food with great service!
The view is wonderful from the patio. My $40 halibut dinner was way overpriced and it was way overcooked. Very disappointing.
Top of the Rock is a perfect date night or special occasion location. The food is delicious. Though their menu is small, everything is very fresh and tasty. The chicken and donuts appetizer is one of my favorites! But what really sets Top of the Rock apart is the overall ambiance. The views from literally every angle of the restaurant are breathtaking.
Everything was great!!
I would challenge the leadership to look at employee working conditions for outside and the uniform you make them wear. No need to have them dressed in all black with the heat, this is Arizona. Khaki shorts/pants and white polos is fine, no patroon is worried about the image you are trying to portray. Cmon, servers looked miserable wearing those uniforms.
WERE LOCALS AND WE HAVE BEEN STAYING AT MARRIOTTS RESORTS AND DINING AT TOP OF THE ROCK FOR YEARS. WE LOVE THIER BUFFET SO MUCH AND WISH SOMEDAY THELYLL BRING IT BACK. I GIVE OF THE ROCK RESTAURANT THE BEST IN ARIZONA.
The location is beautiful but we did have a lot of stairs to climb. Service was outstanding and food was great!
Ambience was great but food was just mediocre. If you put Artic Char on the menu. That’s what you should sell. It was just plain Salmon and tasted ok. Nothing special. We also had the polenta (Airline Chicken) and it tasted and looked like oatmeal. Mush! Skipped it all together. This place does not charge mediocre prices. Spent $175 for a meal that should have cost about $60. I am sure that Tempe has better restaurants than this one.
The server and chef were super accommodating to creating a plant-based meal for me! I went with the expectation of just enjoying the company and not being able to eat anything, but they went above and beyond to create something healthy and cruelty-free for me.
