Top of the Market Ratings and Reviews
As usual the service is spot-on perfect, the atmosphere is a 10, and the food selection and presentation is 2nd to none in San Diego. Watch the chef’s prepare amazing dishes with teamwork and precision by sitting at the counter bar. It’s a secret I shouldn’t be sharing with everyone due to limited seating but the experience will be memorable. Guaranteed.
We visited San Diego from St. Louis to celebrate my husband's birthday. Top of the Market was aware of the occasion and had a personalized menu for my husband and a delicious dessert. The meal was amazing, our waiters on their game and it was a perfect evening. Thank you!
Our dinner at the Top of the Market was outstanding! It couldn't have been better except for the rather obnoxious loud gentleman at the table behind us. When he left, it was perfect. My husband had the swordfish and I had the lobster. Both were very tasty and our Waitress, Erin, was super. Very knowledgeable about the dishes and very attentive. We never had to ask for anything, she was always there exactly when we needed anything. The Top of the Market does not disappoint!
We have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. We are also lovers of seafood and the fish if always fresh, prepared and served beautifully. One of our favorite restaurants. The service is also excellent and even then they're busy, you never feel rushed.
I have eaten here three time in the past year. Top of the Market consistently has first class service, and starters/appetizers, but at times the entre is just the far side of well done (leaving some of the fish dishes a little dry). Otherwise I highly recommend dining here.
Top of The Market does a great job of being an upscale restaurant that doesn't rest on their fabulous location as their main reason to thrive. They are in a very nice "touristy" area, with great water views, while still focusing on great food and service. Based on only their terrific location, being next door to the Midway and right on the water park, they would probably do pretty well regardless of the product they put out. But this restaurant always has interesting and well-prepared food, great service, special drinks, and a solid wine list. I am a neighborhood local, and I will definitely be a return customer.
The smoked fish sampler makes a great appetizer to share. Mesquite-grilled swordfish came with a light blood orange sauce that was delicious. Crab Louis salad had loads of crab. Everyone in my party left very happy with their meal!
A quiet Thursday evening so was able to get a window table with nice harbor views. Hadn't been in a couple years and the prices are apparently more than keeping pace with inflation. $9.50 for a half pour of red seems a little much. Very good food, however. Brussel sprouts and cauliflower side dish was excellent. Tuna main was also very tasty. And excellent service from Steve and the bus staff.
Called for a reservation last minute and were pleased to be accommodated. Fantastic location right on the water. From the moment we sat down we we enjoyed above average service. Our waiter was very pleasant and knowledgeable. His recommendation to try the Crab cakes was greatly appreciated! The wine list offered ample choices and the entree's were amazing. The Cream Brulee was one of the best Iv'e ever had! Will visit again!
The perfect Dinner to start off our three day getaway, service was five stars, and the cuisine was spot on, especially the The cilantro sauce for the bread. Which was outstanding.
Will return as it rates the highest out of the remaining restaurants that we dined at.
Happy Holidays and thank you for the perfect experience
Friendly attentive servers and staff. Fantastic grilled octopus - Spanish style with interesting spices and bits of peppers and other vegetables. Delicious seared scallop and striped sea bass entrees. Good salads. The best seafood restaurant in San Diego. Expensive and worth it.
