Tony's of Lexington Ratings and Reviews
Went to dinner at Tony's to celebrate closing on our new house in Lexington. Summary: above average food and service; ambiance is typical downtown "hot spot"... noisy, high-ceilings with open mechanicals (i.e., exposed ductwork); prices a bit higher than warranted ($200 for two meals with the crab appetizer and one glass of wine).
My wife and I shared a crab appetizer. The crab was overpriced and not fresh, but it was tasty enough. It was served with some sort of mayo-based sauce somewhat akin to tartar sauce. Not sure if that's a local thing but the only appropriate "sauce" for crab is drawn butter. We asked for that and it was brought to us right away.
I had a steak and baked potato. Both were very tasty and properly prepared. I had a nice glass of California cab with my meal. My wife had Chilean sea bass and it was also above average. We shared a side of sautéed mushrooms... they were very good.
Service was attentive without being overly so. However, having a conversation was difficult with frequent "pardon me" and "could you say that again, I couldn't hear you" interjections due to the ambient noise. Not a romantic restaurant... at least at our table, which was adjacent to the bar.
The only truly negative part of the experience (other than the fish stick tartar sauce) was that I was panhandled in the short distance from the valet stand to our car. BTW - at $100 per patron, Tony's should be able to pop for some propane to give the valets some heat instead of making them buy their own for the heater. It was 22 degrees outside on this night.
We'll probably give Tony's another shot at some point, maybe they'll earn that fifth star.
The shrimp cocktail was unbelievable. The steak was OK not the one of the better steaks I’ve had . The lobster tail was tender but not sweet.
However, our server CHRIS was great and attentive.
Overall with the buzz this restaurant got, I would have expected better steaks.
We had an amazing dinner. Jeremy was our server and he was attentive without disrupting our conversation. His team never let us want for anything. We were celebrating a birthday and they mentioned it at the beginning and gave us a free cheesecake. It truly was a great experience. We will be back.
My husband selected Tony’s for his birthday. It was our first time although many of our friends have eaten here and had good things to say. Our steaks were excellent but honestly not worth the $41-48/steak. The béarnaise sauce was horrible and I’ve eaten a lot of béarnaise. The wedge salad was excellent. Large enough to split. The sides...were big enough to share. Asparagus was tough and had huge stalks (haven’t they heard that the thinner the better)??The truffle wedge fries were good. The “complimentary” birthday dessert (my husband got to select) was the cream cake with chocolate bourbon sauce...dry and most likely a day or two old. The bread (from Cincy) was day old at best. We’ll stick with Malones thank you very much.
We were a family party of three and we thoroughly enjoyed our first experience at Tony's! All staff members are friendly, informative and make you feel welcome as soon as you enter the door. The portions are generous and cooked to perfection. Definitely made my "A-List."
Love Tony's. Excellent service, great steaks, sides, cocktails. Crab cake is so good, and Sir Baton's steak is my favorite steak. I absolutely love the atmosphere, the corner booth is my favorite - perfect for a group of 4 and the best view of the restaurant. Highly recommended for a great start for the night out on the town.
The best restaurant in Lexington. The menu is very fairly priced for the quality of food and the experience. The menu offers a wonderful array for selection and it is difficult to select which item to order because they are all so good and wonderfully prepared. If I lived in the area, I would buy into the “$5,000.00 Club and it would be a regular selection for professional and personal dining experiences. Very Professional service, and most delectable menu. 5 + stars!
