About Tony Spavones
Where Tony Spavone travels, music cannot be too far behind. Tony Spavone's Ristorante is proof enough. Food is served - excellent food, infact-but music is also a star on the menu. Spavone's restaurant is one of the few in Chicagoland where the owner regularly serenades his guests with a song; where a restaurant full of people cheerfully sing along to whatever tune catches their fancy; where a roomful of diners routinely gets up to form a giant conga line.

Tony Spavones Ratings and Reviews
It was our first time there. The service started off slow but the owner noticed and sent over a waitress. I am hoping that she was new because she wasn't the best. Very slow to bring things and kept trying to take our dishes that we were still using. She only had two tables so hopefully she is new or just having an off night. The owner sings through out the evening. It was pretty loud in there due to a couple large parties that sang along. We did not mind that but would not suggest if you want a more intimate type dinner. The food was Delicious with the exception of the arancini balls. They were pretty dry, definitely have had better. The portions were large. We would definitely go back if we are in that area again.
Food was good as always. The server was mediocre at best. We had to repeat ourselves many times. She asked 2 at our table what they would like as a side and listed the sides but didn't bother mentioning they were extra. Both were chicken dishes and each time we'd been prior we were not charged extra for our side dishes on chicken dinners. Now I got pasta and knew my meatballs would be more but not for the chicken giambotta or the chicken frances. When I asked her about it she said she told us they would be an upcharge but she didn't nor did she offer to take the fee off. Poor service on her part, highly disappointed!!
Can't say enough good things about this place . The folks working are the nicest and the service is great as is the food. My wife and very good friend enjoy neck bones and Tuesday they have a special - they were very meaty and the gravy was very good. The baked clams and fried calamari also were well prepared as was the lamb chops which I had. Next time get the full order for eight chops ! Asked to be away from the door entrance and the table selected was perfect.
Been coming to Tony's for almost 20 years, but haven't been here in a few years. This was the first time I was honestly a little disappointed.
The food is outstanding, and it's a definite attraction when Tony comes by to sing live! Service was always great too... which is why I am a bit disappointed.
The pricing for the food has gone up, which stands to reason service would go upscale too. But the food took way too long, and server couldn't remember who got what. We had some kids with us, and they were absolutely starving by the time their food came... which happened to be the last meals to arrive. Have you heard hungry, crabby kids before? The server only came by twice to check on us in a two hour span, and when we ordered some cokes, she brought them out and set them down at one end of the table. We had to pass them down ourselves.
I have to assume she is a bit new to this job, and even with these small problems, I love this restaurant, and I'd still give them another try!
Have been here numerous times over the tears. Have booked several special family gatherings, birthday parties, etc. They are very accommodating in helping plan special occasions and never disappointed. Tony is always happy to sing at the parties as he is during the evening dinner hour. Reasonably priced, good menu & food is good. Some things are great and some average so I have to rate it as good. Great atmosphere for special occasions and to impress friends & associates. Having Tony sing to your wife, mother, or any special guest is priceless.
We will continue going there and I would recommend it.
IT is usually a lot better, the food was not the best, two meals had to go back. ONE meal came 20 minutes after the others and it was suppose to have a cream sauce and it came out with a red sauce.cI Think because it was Christmas eve they did not have enough people working with such a large crowd, would not recommend going on a holiday
We're local and hit Tony's once every couple of months. I think the quality of the food is very good and the menu is broad. Service varies according to how busy they are - Friday and Saturday are obviously biggies. The entertainment (Tony) is fun and the crowd gets into it. Occasionally , there is some small time name that sings a couple of songs to add to the festivities. All in all, a nice fun meal. Not the place for a quite or romantic dinner.
We enjoy this restaurant, but it can get a bit loud when Tony and others begin singing. Actually, that's kind of cool and make this place a bit unique. But the main dining room is fairly large and wide open, so that can contribute to higher noise levels due to many table conversations.
My wife and I accidentally discovered this place on a Friday evening. Boy were we thrilled and excited by our find. We took our close friends to this place on my wife's birthday and they were thrilled too.
Tony is an amazing vocalist and keeps the whole place rocking with his tunes. We also had one of his staffs also sing a few songs and boy were they rocking. Love the service and the food is out of the world.
We went to Tony's for my fathers 100th birthday on April 1st. Our waiter Mitchell was a gem. Very attentive and he had some great stories about Chicago. The food was excellent as always. Everything was ready for this s when we arrived. The portions are very generous. Tony sang to my Dad which was so nice. I will be going back again when we go to visit my Dad.
The food was "okay". I ordered the shrimp scampi which was rubbery. My friend ordered linguine with shrimp and enjoyed hers. The bread was very good. The cheesecake dessert was NOT calorie worthy - the topping was good but the cheese cake itself was kind of tasteless. Our server was clearly new so we made allowances for that, and other servers seemed to step in to refill drinks, etc as needed.
