Tony & Joe's Seafood Place Ratings and Reviews
Hotel recommended we try this place. Nice location if it's warm enough to enjoy the outdoor seating.
Ordered two cocktails, one wasn't even the correct drink. Neither were good nor was the correct drink.
Special crab cocktail dish was pretty good though not sure it was worth $80.
Entreees sounded great on the menu but were lacking in reality. Dessert was a thawed piece of cake.
Overall fine for a family dinner without breaking the bank but nothing memorable.
I love the location of course, but there weren't a lot of people in there- it's off-season really and it was raining, and on a Sunday. The only complaint, which really isn't a complaint, is that the bread seemed a little commercialized and the corn bread was a little dry. The croutons also seemed a little commercialized. Kind of surprising to us. However, that's not why we were there. We were there for dinner, not the bread. My mixed green salad was excellent. We both got crabcakes and they were excellent. No fillers, hardy, very filling. We were stuffed. We also got dessert and they were fine. My carrot cake was ok. My husband's brownie was excellent.
The service was top notch. We started with happy hour at the bar - half priced oysters and $5 draft beers. It was great! The bartenders were kind and attentive, but they also gave me and my boyfriend our privacy to chat. Then we proceeded to the dining area for dinner. The waiter gave us good suggestions - I really enjoyed my crab cakes. They were quick to clear the table, but they were never pushy. The only improvement I would suggest is with the bread basket - it may have been sitting out too long before making it to our table.
The ambiance was superb, we had a table right in front of the picture window overlooking the ice skating rink. So we were entertained while we had dinner. The service was impeccable and the staff was friendly. The only drawback was there was no valet and the GPS took us to the dark alley around the corner from the restaurant. But my fiancé loved it. Oops one other drawback was the dessert menu was not very extensive could use a few more options.
This is a very nice place to eat and everything was amazing from the food to the service and especially the location...very romantic. The value was what you'd expect for Georgetown...very expensive! But the Groupon made this VERY affordable and worthwhile!
I think my other dining experiences have spoiled me and because I was not wowed or woo'd by dinner.
Last night I fined out to celebrate my fiancé's 50th birthday. Last year we dined st Mastro's and absolutely loved it so this year I thought we'd try Tony and Joe's. The birthday boy ordered steak and 10 mins after ordering the waiter comes back with the sad news that there is no steak. My short ribs were charred. He ordered the crab cakes as a substitute. The food is fairly tasty but I definitely was disappointed. I had heard so many great things about the restaurant and I left thinking what was all the fuss about?
Also I made a note on my open table reservation about it being his 50th birthday and again maybe other fine dining establishments have ruined it for me but upon arrival there was no mention of it and I had to request a candle for dessert. If you're paying upwards of $150 for dinner the least you can do is have the food you offer or mention that it's not available when ordering because he really wanted steak and read the notes about special occasions.
Came here for a date night while traveling from Atlanta. Booked them with the intention of doing the $65 anniversary special but forgot to purchase the deal before the day of. My boyfriend still wanted to check them out and their prices were similar to surround restaurants so we went. The location is gorgeous and the decor is nice. The service was mediocre at best and food was bad. Even if we would’ve had the $65 coupon deal the food would still be a 1 Star because it isn’t worth that. The bread basket is served cold, the food came out luke warm with no seasoning or salt on the salmon. I do not recommend them at all.
Tony & Joe's is great every time I go. The Seafood brunch and bottomless Mimosa is well worth the drive from Spotsylvania, Va. If you love seafood and mimosa's then this the best spot in DC. They have a live band that keeps everyone up beat and a omelet bar that that makes seafood omelets :) a waffle station, and some of the best crab dip I have ever had. The menu food is great also, the fish is always cooked to perfection. But I will always prefer the brunch. Thanks Tony & Joe's for having a great place to plan our quarterly girls brunch
Asked if we could sit near table with view
No we were told - that table if for a table of five. Throughout our entire dinner nobody sat at four empty tables with view. In fact, I can see why the place was half empty on a Saturday night at prime time. Our waiter was less than mediocre. He never asked how our meal was, did not ask if we wanted another drink, or tell us about the desserts. I politely asked if they had crem brûlée and he said no - no offer of what else might be good.
The food was good - not great and way overpriced.
I told the hostess about our experience and she did not seem to really care. She asked us if we wanted to see a manager. At that point it was evident why they did not have a full house. I would rate this as an extremely low end restaurant that seems to think their high prices are worth dining there. Don’t go here - there are numerous dc restaurants to enjoy who actually care about their customers.
Nearby Farmers Fishers Bakers has twice the hospitality and service with wonderful fresh food and the kicker is that they are much more reasonably priced for better food!
I was looking forward to some good seafood for dinner with my son. We started with mussels, which were just not good. We left about half the bucket of mussels behind because we had a few that were bad and decided it was not worth the risk. Next we had gumbo, it was delicious! My son had surf and turf which included over cooked shrimp and tasteless steak. I had shrimp and grits which was simply awful.
Service was very good. It was a slow night, so if anything the service may have been too attentive.
We will not be returning.
we make it a habit to come here every time we are in DC --easy Circulator ride from our hotel -- excellent food and wine choices --the view is exceptional -- would like to come in the warmer weather for outdoor dining -- highly recommend for a variety of occasions
