Tony & Joe's Seafood Place Ratings and Reviews
Came here for a date night while traveling from Atlanta. Booked them with the intention of doing the $65 anniversary special but forgot to purchase the deal before the day of. My boyfriend still wanted to check them out and their prices were similar to surround restaurants so we went. The location is gorgeous and the decor is nice. The service was mediocre at best and food was bad. Even if we would’ve had the $65 coupon deal the food would still be a 1 Star because it isn’t worth that. The bread basket is served cold, the food came out luke warm with no seasoning or salt on the salmon. I do not recommend them at all.
Asked if we could sit near table with view
No we were told - that table if for a table of five. Throughout our entire dinner nobody sat at four empty tables with view. In fact, I can see why the place was half empty on a Saturday night at prime time. Our waiter was less than mediocre. He never asked how our meal was, did not ask if we wanted another drink, or tell us about the desserts. I politely asked if they had crem brûlée and he said no - no offer of what else might be good.
The food was good - not great and way overpriced.
I told the hostess about our experience and she did not seem to really care. She asked us if we wanted to see a manager. At that point it was evident why they did not have a full house. I would rate this as an extremely low end restaurant that seems to think their high prices are worth dining there. Don’t go here - there are numerous dc restaurants to enjoy who actually care about their customers.
Nearby Farmers Fishers Bakers has twice the hospitality and service with wonderful fresh food and the kicker is that they are much more reasonably priced for better food!
I was looking forward to some good seafood for dinner with my son. We started with mussels, which were just not good. We left about half the bucket of mussels behind because we had a few that were bad and decided it was not worth the risk. Next we had gumbo, it was delicious! My son had surf and turf which included over cooked shrimp and tasteless steak. I had shrimp and grits which was simply awful.
Service was very good. It was a slow night, so if anything the service may have been too attentive.
We will not be returning.
we make it a habit to come here every time we are in DC --easy Circulator ride from our hotel -- excellent food and wine choices --the view is exceptional -- would like to come in the warmer weather for outdoor dining -- highly recommend for a variety of occasions
Everything was great! We had two salads- both very fresh. My husband had the crab cakes- delicious! I had the seafood stew. The ingredients were good, but I was expecting more of a cioppino type dish and it didn't really have a broth. We had the lemon cake and the brownie sundae for dessert- both great. Service was friendly and helpful and the view is unbeatable!
This was our third time at Tony and Joe's. We always enjoy the food and atmosphere. This last visit I brought my brother and his wife who had never been to the restaurant (they live in Baltimore). They absolutely loved it and are planning a family gathering. I have recommended Tony and Joe's to all my friends as an excellent Sunday Brunch spot. Kudos.
We hadn't eaten at Tony & Joe's for years. The last time we ate there was during nice weather and we had a table outside. This time we were inside with a view of the ice skating rink. We dined using a Groupon special "deal" that included a salad, entree, dessert, and glass of wine.
The portions were generous and we took home leftovers. We both enjoyed our fish dishes. The service was excellent. I'd definitely go back and try the bar and the outdoor seating when the weather warms up!
Would of given a better rating but we observed that the food selection was reduced yet the price was the same. Haven’t been there in a few years but one couldn’t help notice that the deserts and appetizers were not what they use to be. We celebrated our mother’s 89 birthday wish I’d chosen another place.
I would like to thank Jonathan, Catherine, Unknown wonderful female hostess that assisted us in taking the group picture with the Samsung NOTE phone (:-), and Joey! You all helped make an evening of family and fun amazing, yet absolutely professional. The entire party loved the fresh salad ingredients, crab cakes, and the lobster, to name a few.
Thank you Tony and Joe's Seafood!
I read some mixed reviews so I had some trepidation but all turned out to be great. We did use a Groupon which was a good deal as entrees were high. Some reviews indicated poor service. Ours was excellent. Bread is very basic. Hot fudge sundae tasted more like chocolate sauce, cookie on top just ok, not good enough to waste additional calories. All in all we enjoyed ourselves.
This is always a good place to meet up with friends and visitors to DC. The food is good, the service always good, and the view is lovely. The noise is more manageable than many in the area and we appreciate that and the ability to talk with friends without having to yell over others.
The service was okay, nothing great and our waiter wasn't thrilled to be there which was obvious. The bathrooms are horrible- there is tile missing from the walls, toilet paper all over the floor and they look like a dirty bar bathroom instead of a fine restaurant. I was so glad my visit to the bathroom was at the end of my visit as it would have been very off putting in the middle of my meal. They need to invest in a bathroom renovation desperately to keep a menu with items over $20 on it.
Last night in DC, wanted a relaxed outdoor experience with great food and wine. This place was perfect. Our waiter was young, but knew what he was doing. A professional. His recommendations were spot on, and the food was varied for all tastes. We enjoyed the views of the city and will return with our next visit.
