This was our first time at Tony and Joes and it was the best experience ever. The food was the best that I have had in DC, the ambiance was great, the live music was jumping and the view was everything. I will definitely be coming back at least 2-3 times a month after COVID-19 is over!
Desserts .. eh
Omelet station good
I probably would go again
Awesome experience! Fantastic view of the Potomac River! Can’t think of one negative comment or areas for improvement about this establishment.
We had excellent service and delicious food!!
We went here using a groupon so the Menu choices were limited. Nonetheless, the ambiance was very nice. The host sat us by a windows in a sunbeam, which was nice given how cold it was outside. The server was polite and the food delicious. My only complaint was that the bread they brought out was cold. Overall the experience was nice. I’d go here again.
Excellent food presentation
Quick and professional service
Very disappointed. Used a groupon and got a three-course meal. The caesar salad was vert good but my wife and I had crab cakes that were mostly filler. My wife complained and manager offered to give her new one, but that wasn't much better.
Great location, good food, poor service-slow, forgot/messed up order, not friendly or efficient waitress.
This is our second time going to Tony and Joe's Seafood and using a Groupon. This time was not a good experience. We actually purchased for 4 people and took another couple for a friends birthday. One of our guest had to return her cedar planked salmon 3 times bcz it was not cooked all the way thru. The server was very unattentive and we think its because of the Groupon which makes no difference. We actually saved the company money bcz we don't drink alcohol so therefore we didn't partake of the wine which was inclusive in our groupon. We eat out and well often and not on groupons all the time. Since our last experience in taking another couple out about 10 months ago was very good we thought why not do it again. We will not be doing that again nor Tony & Joe's very disappointed!
Upon being directed to our table, we observed that the hostess wanted to seat us in the section where she was seating all African Americans. My girlfriend spoke up about the hostess’ actions and asked to be seated elsewhere. BTW, we are African American.
This seems to be very prevalent @ Tony & Joe’s to sit the African Americans all together in one section of the restaurant. As we returned on Monday and the same scenario transpired.
Great food and view of the Potomac and found a fantastic deal on Groupon.
Had to track down waiter a few times.
Informed him it was a birthday at the table, he didn’t acknowledge or offer anything as typical at Ruth Chris and other places that we frequent.
The food was not tasty.
(I went for Sunday brunch and that was good but dinner was not).
We always get the mussels steam pot because we always enjoy it. Usually I order the crab cake meal and it is outstanding. This time I got shrimp and grits. I really enjoyed but not as much as the crab cakes. Overall this restaurant is worth a try and a good value for the area.
Outstanding food, service and ambiance.
Dining room is soooo dark. I thought it's just but when another customer were seated beside us, they also used their cellphone flashlights to look at the menu. They even asked the server why it is dark.
Bathroom needs extra cleaning. As a person who always dine out, the bathroom is one of my gauge how restaurant's kitchen being maintained. A dirty bathroom=dirty kitchen.
This is my second time visiting this location. My choice of meal was better the first time. I enjoyed the experience and will probably go back soon.
Nice intimate atmosphere that allowed great conversation with good food
The only real miss step here, was that our waiter became more interested with new tables, or just being completely out of the dining room. We seemed to be 1 of 3 tables left hanging on a slow Saturday night. Food and ambiance were lovely, we had great view of the KennedyCenter. Support staff was attentive, though didn't communicate our want of the check to our waiter as we sat with a clear table as he refilled our water.
Great experience, made better with a Groupon. Staff is very friendly and attentive, frequently checking in. Food was very good. We had the Blackened Redfish and Bacon Wrapped Jumbo Shrimp. Seated at a table with a nice view of the Potomac and Kennedy Center.
Very touristy. Great location, average quality food
Our waiter was very attentive, the view of the Georgetown waterfront can't be beat! We enjoyed the cabernet savignon, the mahi mahi was delicious and the sides of veggies were appreciated. On top of everything else, we had a bread basket of warm cornbread and other bread, a lovely salad, and a choice of desserts. My husband had a wonderful, romantic date at a beautiful restaurant with tasty cuisine. I definitely recommend this place!
Sat by the window with a view of the Potomac and the Kennedy Center. Food is great. We had the salmon and the crab cakes. Great meal including the well prepared and creative sides.
Wife & I came here to tardily celebrate anniversary. Food was good and service was better - Alan and Kalter took great care of us. We would dine here more often but it is not close to where we live. Keep up the good work.
The salmon was over cooked and dry. I was never asked how would I like my salmon cooked.
The dessert choice for the brownie was not good. The brownie was so hard and clearly not freshly made.
The salad and wine was good. Service seemed to be rushed.
We love eating at tony & joes.. they have the best seafood. Groupon makes it even better to enjoy.
Best Surf and Turf and great service.
We used a groupon for this post valentines dinner. The menu specials could be upgraded. The meal was good. However, the crab cake dinner used two be two cakes for a price and now you have to pay an upcharge for an additional crab cake.
Beautiful view, friendly service, good food. What more could you want?
Food was great, good amounts of food and I love the decorations.
Had a Groupon and it was definitely worth it
We enjoyed our lunch very much, between the cedar plank Atlantic salmon and the crab cake. Delicious and not too heavy.
We try to visit Tony and Joe's several times a year. The view is fantastic - in the summer, the river; in the winter, the ice skating rink is highly entertaining. The food is always great! It's been awhile since I had their crabcakes, and the one I had last Sunday night receives my vote as the best crabcakes in DC!
It shouldn’t take over a half an hour to finally have the manager notice we wanted the checks and hadn’t been refilled on our wine glasses or waters. The service started great and became terrible. We will likely all choose somewhere different because of this even though the food was great.
Excellent food great atmosphere and superior service
I had assumed that restaurants along the waterfront must be overpriced and tourist-oriented, so I had never visited Tony & Joe's until a Groupon proved irresistible. I'm so glad we went. We were graciously welcomed and seated by the window, with a view of the Potomac from Memorial Bridge to Key Bridge. The service was impeccable, and the food imaginatively prepared and delicious. The Groupon constrained only the first course and dessert (two options each course, per person), and between us, we tried all of them (delicious). The main course allowed almost everything on the menu, and we chose two finfish entrees. Both were excellent and the portions large enough that we took leftovers home. A wonderful, even romantic, experience. A glass of wine per person was included, although not even mentioned in the Groupon announcement, if I recall correctly. (The choice was limited to one red or one white offering per person.)
I would highly recommend Tony & Joes. I had the Shrimp and Grits and my husband had the Salmon. Best meal we've had in a very long time. Everything was perfect for our Pre-Valentine's Dinner.
Only suggestion would be a better veggie options. Yes, I know it's a seafood restaurant, but sometimes, in a group of 5 people who want seafood, one person is a vegetarian.
