It shouldn’t take over a half an hour to finally have the manager notice we wanted the checks and hadn’t been refilled on our wine glasses or waters. The service started great and became terrible. We will likely all choose somewhere different because of this even though the food was great.
Excellent food great atmosphere and superior service
I had assumed that restaurants along the waterfront must be overpriced and tourist-oriented, so I had never visited Tony & Joe's until a Groupon proved irresistible. I'm so glad we went. We were graciously welcomed and seated by the window, with a view of the Potomac from Memorial Bridge to Key Bridge. The service was impeccable, and the food imaginatively prepared and delicious. The Groupon constrained only the first course and dessert (two options each course, per person), and between us, we tried all of them (delicious). The main course allowed almost everything on the menu, and we chose two finfish entrees. Both were excellent and the portions large enough that we took leftovers home. A wonderful, even romantic, experience. A glass of wine per person was included, although not even mentioned in the Groupon announcement, if I recall correctly. (The choice was limited to one red or one white offering per person.)
I would highly recommend Tony & Joes. I had the Shrimp and Grits and my husband had the Salmon. Best meal we've had in a very long time. Everything was perfect for our Pre-Valentine's Dinner.
Only suggestion would be a better veggie options. Yes, I know it's a seafood restaurant, but sometimes, in a group of 5 people who want seafood, one person is a vegetarian.
Food was excellent. View was lovely. Would definitely go back again next time in DC.
It was awesome. Great crevice and delicious food!
Great dinner at Tony and Joes. The service was spot on by Bart and he really knows the menu. The Mahi-mahi and Redfish were excellent.
The server who is from Mongol was the best ever seen. He helped us to use the dinner deal and served very impressive good experience! I want to go again for him.
What an amazing first impression! The service was excellent! The ambiance was superb! The food and wine were delicious! The waiter was very attentive, friendly, helpful, and very well knowledgeable of the menu. I look forward to many returns!
Phenomenal food. Just great. Both my wife and I had a great meal. Thank you.
Thank you very much for dining with us. We're so happy to hear you both enjoyed your visit. Please come again.
The food was good! Service was terrible-we we’re there for an early dinner before seeing a show at the Kennedy Center, and the place was empty, so you’d expect to have excellent, attentive service. That couldn’t be farther from the truth. We were never offered refills of our drinks because the server never returned until well after we were finished eating.
Everything was wonderful, food, service, wait-staff until a table of 6 or 7 was set up right next to ours. The people were having a great time, laughing, talking loud and dismissive of other patrons. All of a sudden, a great night of eating and conversing in a quiet atmosphere was ruined. My table was the second one occupied in the restaurant at the time we arrived. There must have been another place for the loud party or, if it was a reserved party, like mine, then we should have been seated somewhere else in anticipation of the other party's arrival. We ended up leaving sooner than we had anticipated.0
We loved Tony and Joe’s. It is a beautiful restaurant on the Georgetown Waterfront. Our waiter was very attentive, and the salad, bread, and broiled mahi mahi with broccoli i, carrots and s cheesy risotto were terrific. I loved the lemon cake , and my husband enjoyed the brownie with ice cream. Oh, and our Groupon came with two excellent glasses of wine. We will definitely be back for another dinner!
Decent food but mice running around no good, no much to said
The food was forgettable! Gumbo was so spicy, it was inedible. Baked Cod was a disappointment. It was clearly frozen. Fish was tasteless except for the huge amount of red pepper heaped on top. Even the salmon was mediocre. The service was attentive, but since the food was not appetizing, we will not return. Tony & Joe might invest in better fish, better recipes, and better chefs.
We were late for our reservation but received probably some of the best service I’ve ever experienced. Our server was right on top of making sure we got our dinner. She knew exactly what to offer because we were using a groupon and it went perfectly.
The Chilean sea bass was phenomenal.
Fancy beautiful brunch with live jazz on Sunday! Oysters prime rib and coffee and juice for a very reasonable price! So happy with my experience
Food was great! Service was not that great. We went for my husband birthday. We even told the server that it was his birthday and nothing.
Food has switched up as far as portions and quality
We enjoyed a view of the Potomac River and the Kennedy Center while dining here. The food was delicious and the portions were very generous. The server was attentive and friendly. We used a Groupon for two - 3 course meals (plus two glasses of house wine), which was an outstanding value!
It was great
I requested a table with a river view and that was exactly what we got. Our waiter was fantastic. None of us are big eaters, so it was a little pricey for what we ate. The noise level was high, but there is a lot of glass and Sunday brunch is popular, so that’s to be expected. Overall a very nice brunch.
With Groupon, it's an excellent deal and you don't have to wait for restaurant week. Service, food and ambiance are great with easy access from Georgtown or Kennedy Center. A+
Went with my husband and kids. Got to our table and I was seated in front of a plant that was hovering from behind. The table was round and had the small leaf that were not properly fitted. We asked to be moved. We were there a good 7 minutes before someone came to the table. Once seated at another table we waited about another 5-8 minutes before our waiter came. Took our drink order and appetizers. Nothing terrible there. Main course arrived and I had to send back the pork chop because it wasn’t thoroughly cooked. Kids enjoyed the broccoli and carrots while we waited for the chop to come back. Our meal was done and our waiter never asked us how the food was. We saw him a total of three times during our meal. We waited a long while to get our check. We paid our bill and before we even got our belongings the waiter was rushing to grab the check. He reached over my husband while he was trying to get his coat on. It was just rude behavior all the way around.
We dined on a Sunday evening at 7:30 so quiet in restaurant except for arguing couple at close by table. I had the mahi-mahi which was delicious but my two companions were not impressed with their crab cake sandwiches. One of them found pieces of shell in the crab. Both said it was rather tasteless. Wait staff seemed a little rushed and unfriendly thru the meal even though restaurant not busy. But didn’t rush us out at end of meal. Overall it was a pleasant atmosphere at our window table where we could see ice skaters and Christmas decorations outside. Will possibly return again.
It was to celebrate my sister in law’s birthday. The service was excellent and they (the staff) were very accommodating. I was amazed at the choices of food available and the quality of it
First time at the restaurant.. salmon and shrimp and crab dip are amazing..but the Chesapeake Boil was less than desirable.. it was mediocre at best.. no crabs or crab legs available.. my cocktail tasted different on the 2nd round.. the prices were a little high for the quality..
Service was fantastic, food was great!!
We dine here about twice a year based on achievements and celebrations occurring within our family. We have NEVER been disappointed. Always great service, food and ambiance.
I read some of the reviews on Yelp and they concerned me. However, one reviewer said she was glad she went without reading them. I feel the same. This place was amazing! The food was great, the service was great and the view was great. I will definitely be going again.
The staff was very attention to detail and friendly. Very fun night!!
Very cozy place with excellent view of the small ice skating rink in the winter and the Potomac in the warmer weather. Food was very good . All around a very nice place and will go back next time in DC.
Our server was overwhelmed and his customer service was suffering due to his inability to manage all his customer needs. I am looking forward to visiting the restaurant again and give a better review.
Thanksgiving dinner was delightful...and got to meet "Tony". Will definitely do this again. Oysters galore, smoked salmon, the whole nine yards. Concierge picked a nice table for us facing the water. Good time was had by many.
Always a fun atmosphere, the food was delicious and even provided something to be thankful for, for folks who don't eat meat or seafood. But the turkey and seafood where spectacular!
We had dinner that was great then we had Thanksgiving buffet the next day and it was even better. Food was cooked perfect, staff was great, waitress was great. We will return next year for Thanksgiving.
This was our second time dining during the Sunday brunch and it was great both times! This occasion was my husband's birthday and the food was absolutely delicious and the service was great!
Great experience! The crab cakes are a must.
