The view was lovely -- but we were SO impressed with the food -- the bass and char were both excellent in presentation and flavor. We are eager to return!
The ambiance and food was superior. I'm always satisfied with the meal and its presentation. Excellent service!
This is our second time eating at this establishment while visiting DC. We will NOT be back. The hostess sat us at a table snack in the middle of the flow of traffic to the buffet. We were only asked by the servers once if there was anything we needed. No refills offered on my tea. The food while not bad, was not worth the $45/per person we paid. The manager was running around ignoring the customers and looking like he was disinterested in the experience of their customers. The day before we had brunch at Founding Farmers (brunch was much less in price) and these 2 experiences were total opposites in so many ways. The music was great and we loved the laid back yet slightly upscale atmosphere but too many other issues to deal with too justify a return.
Food was okay (we expected it to be better) the crab and shrimp dip was great! However, our service and customer service sucked! The waiters need to do a better job at communicating and treating all people equal. The African American people in our party received different and worse treatment than the caucasions in our party.
Food was really great. Service was rushed and took away from the enjoyment.
Great food and the views over the Potomac are so romantic
Location on the Potomac is lovely. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
Try the steam pot! Great fresh seafood!
Terrific view of the Potomac River. Lively area surrounds the restaurant. Fun experience!
One of the best places to eat in DC. The quality of food is exceptional. If you really know good food and have discriminating taste, you will pleased beyond comparison. The service staff is one of the best that I have experienced. You will not be disappointed on quality of food, consistency, service, ambiance, noise level, etc. It is a pleasant dining experience as well. Will definitely go again, and again, and again.
Get the steam pot dish! Fresh seafood in a wonderful tomato broth! Bread is delicious!
View along the Potomac is beautiful! Make reservations. It gets crowded on Fridays.
Great food, good service, reasonable prices, excellent location.
Unfortunately due to the turnover to dinner out food took an extremely long time to arrive - there were several other tables with more people who arrived after us who had their food before us. Our order was not complicated so it was a bit frustrating to be waiting for almost an hour for our main entree. Our server was very apologetic and tried to make us feel attended to despite the delay.
We went to Tony and Joe's as a daytime date- excellent food and service and huge portions of food that we ate all of and then had a food coma upon arriving back home. I had the hot pot and enjoyed the mussels and clams- a bit messy but worth it. My husband had the crabcakes and he said they were great- I had a bite and thought there was a tad bit too much filler. Had the lemon cake for dessert (brought it home to eat later) lovely light fluffy cake with a delicious raspberry sauce on the side.
The crab cakes were mushy and the ribs were over cooked.
Food presentation was excellent. However, it is was served luke warm . My husband and I had salads that had lettuce had a few pieces lettuce that where a little brown. This was not our first time at the restaurant; it was definitely not my best experience at it.
Great food. Had a lovely time. It was bit louder than preferred but tolerable.
Excellent Location, excellent food, impeccable service, fantastic ambiance
Great ambiance, delicious food, great value! Highly recommended!
Awesome service. The food was good, not outstanding but good. Great view and the waiter was wonderful !
Ambiance is amazing. Service is unmatched. Food is delicious, portion sizes are great, plated nicely and arrives quickly. Perfect choice for an romantic date.
The foods were pretty good. However, they provided very poor service. I think the hosts greeted us well, but the servers were not great. I was expecting good service since the restaurant has high value. They took orders out or order and irregularlly. I had to ask them if they are going to take my drink order after main menu. And there were some unfriendly waitresses
We went here with a Groupon coupon and got a really good deal. The food was very good and well prepared. The two of us had fish that was cooked perfectly. The wine list is average, sales were delicious and desserts were decent. We enjoyed our repast and will probably return when the weather warms and we can dine outdoors.
The Food was good. The Shrimp and Grits were average.
The food and service were exceptional and the view of the Georgetown Wharf was the perfect romantic setting. We will be back!
Nice average restaurant with very decent food and fairly good, but slow service. Room is odd and table placement a bit awkward. The menu is broad, diverse and has something for everyone. Drinks take a long time to come, but are good. Service is friendly, but lacks genuine warmth. I go because it's consistent and I know what I'll be getting. I also enjoy the area.
It was my Birthday dinner. The restaurant was wonderful. I really enjoyed my evening. I meet the Son and he was a very nice person. Thanks to Tony and Joe's for making my Birthday so beautiful. I will be coming back to have dinner there again very soon. God bless. Ms Wooten
Outstanding crab cakes beautiful atmosphere. Amazing view. A wonderful wvwning
Very expensive for just a simple brunch buffet. Tables very dirty and all around the buffet. I was with the baby 2 years old and charge me like a normal adult when he ate just a fruit.
I had problems with my check 2 different charges , very disappointed. I was specific about was a birthday celebration and gluten free menú and I did not have anything about this request.
I went to Tony & Joe's for Sunday brunch with a few of my girl friends and we had a great time! The selection of dishes and the value for the buffet brunch are both incredible. To name a few things, there was a waffle bar, an omelet bar, 4 types of salmon, a wide selection of meats, lots of fresh fruit, and at least 5 different kinds of desserts. Each of us had at least 3 plates of food because there was so much offered. Even my vegan friend had plenty to eat! There was live music which was lovely. The only reason I gave the ambiance 4 stars is because there was a very loud group next to our table. But the service was great and there was delicious food. I will definitely be coming back!
We love Tony and Joe's Seafood Place. They have such a wide selection and even though I love their seafood, there are also tasty options for the non-seafood eater. This time I had the crabcakes, which were even better than I remembered from the last time I had them there. We opted for a salad instead of an appetizer, and the mixed green salads were fantastic. There are many places to eat in Georgetown, but this one continues to be one of the best.
My friend and I last visited Tony & Joe's almost three years ago. We so enjoy the sophisticated dining experience and T&J's that I'm not sure why we visit so rarely. Our table had a direct view of the Kennedy Center across the Potomac River. We began by sharing the Ivy City Smokehouse appetizer: smoked salmon, trout & bluefish, served with horseradish cream, capers & onions. For her entree, my friend had two Chesapeake Style crab cakes, served with sautéed zucchini, corn & marble potatoes in a red pepper sauce. I had a cedar plank baked Canada salmon with an agave glaze, served with marble potatoes & asparagus. We finished with blueberry sorbet. It was all delicious! The service also was excellent.
The oysters and peal and eat shrimp were very good but the service was mediocre—the server didn’t seem to know about anything on the menu. There were only two other tables so it wasn’t that the was in a hurry-just disengaged.
5 stars in my book. The restaurant held my reservation even though we were the only customer they had all day due to inclement weather. I will definitely be back.
Best seafood in the DC area. Each dish is well conceived, prepared and presented. The vegetables that are included with the entrees are creative as well as delicious, and would be priced a la carte at most restaurants of this caliber. Friendly (but not invasive) service. Reasonably priced for the quality and the beautiful setting overlooking the Potomac. Tips: The $11 mixed greens salad with grape tomato, goat cheese, almonds, apples, and champagne vinaigrette fills a dinner plate -- two people can share. Italian lemon cream cake is fabulous and is served with a mound of real whipped cream and fresh berries.
Husband leaving for a project
Always great time and food is sooooo good! Service was excellent and would highly recommend!
Great food - the crab cakes were perfect and the mahi mahi was done perfectly. Our waiter suggested that we take a dessert home since we were so full after our entrees. It was a nice touch as well as being delicious!
Wonderful birthday dinner with my husband!
The service I received was sub par and there was no one there when we arrived so our service should’ve been impeccable.
