Enjoy American Southwestern cuisine featuring salads, sandwiches, pasta, fresh seafood, mesquite-grilled steaks, and house-made desserts. One menu is served all day. Tonto Bar & Grill, gives diners a view of modern desert life with a peek into the past. The restaurant sits on what was once Native American land and later used as a stopover camp for the U.S. Cavalry, and the building itself was part of the prestigious Rancho Mañana dude ranch. It’s chock-full of the charm of earlier eras, displaying ranching implements, vintage 1940s photos and original architecture. Today, friendly service, fine casual cuisine, and comfortable atmosphere combine for a rustic yet upscale dining experience.

Great meal.. restaurant week menu.. walleye was fab. Will be back
We hadn’t been to Tonto Bar &Grill in about 6 yrs and we forgot how good this place is. The food, atmosphere on the outside patio was exquisite. Service was impeccable. This is one of the better restaurants in the greater Phoenix area. You won’t be disappointed.
For the second week in a row, I had requested out door and you were not able to accommodate. Very disappointed. I have many restaurants to choose from. Yours will not be one moving forward.
This is my favorite local restaurant and I highly recommend it. Besides great drinks and food we were treated to a herd of javelina and some beautiful birds and lizards!
Unique dining experience with great ambience, friendly efficient service, and top quality creative food combinations.
Tonto was very busy during our Friday night dinner but we sat outside on the patio which is always pleasant. We had a little glitch on one order during the salad course but it was quickly resolved. The food was quite good as usual. I am especially fond of the Schnitzel. The restaurant week menu included dessert which was delicious. Overall a very nice dining experience.
We went there during AZ restaurant week and the food was exceptional. Service was great and prompt. Nice ambiance, would definitely go there again.
The table was right next to the exit door to outdoor seating area and there was too much traffic in and out. The noise level at that table was loud and didn’t feel very comfortable with social distancing at the spot. The food arrived too fast in between the appetizers, main course and dessert. Felt like it was a rushed experience.
What a lovely evening for dining on the patio at Tonto Grill. We enjoyed our soup and entree with daylight and delightful views and by the time we had our dessert the patio was beautifully lit. We had excellent service and it was so nice to be where you could hear one another and not have background music playing and everyone trying to talk above it.
Did AZ Restaurant Week meal for $44 with drinks at additional expense. Wife's bloody may]ry was in an old fashioned glass (too small) and was not good. Meal was like factory produced. Just average. Very disappointing since I eat there 3-4 times per year when golfing and wife and i had the AZ Restaurant Week meal last year and it was great. Don't intend to eat there again.
Lovely evening on patio
The walleye was awesome
My wife and I have celebrated our wedding anniversary here for 5 years straight! Awesome patio!
Great view from a very nice patio. Service was top notch-available but not disruptive. Food was interesting and delicious.
We enjoyed a delicious meal out on the patio. It was a beautiful evening, until the sun went down and the mosquitoes ate me alive!
Great food and service. Restaurant Week menu was a wonderful value. There was something offered for everyone. The crab cake was outstanding, the short ribs wonderful, and the lime tart excellent. Also recommend the walleye. Of course, the regular menu has lots of choices, too. Good drinks menu. Patio seating offers acceptable social distancing.
Food was amazing . One of the best walleye I've ever had
Great food a excelle
Love the food, and patio seating!
Sunset dinner on the patio was perfect! The Havelina’s on the golf course, we are an added bonus. They wanted nothing to do with the restaurant, they were a lot of fun to watch.
Great place and beautiful ambiance and setting! A herd of Javalina came out on the golf scores and were quite entertaining!
Always a favorite, even worth the drive. The best time to be seated is just minutes before sunset. Sit outside if you possibly can. Wait staff welcoming, thoughtful. Food was perfect, though menu is smaller during the pandemic. If you can, try the traditional southwest offerings.
The menu for AZ restaurant week is wonderful. The crab cake was crunchy, delicious and overall super. The short ribs were fork tender and accompanied by tasty root vegetables and whipped yams. Lovely. But, oh my, the merengue tart was simply fabulous. The night was perfect for a special meal outdoors. Thank you, Tonto Bar and Grill and Kudos to your chefs!
Was recommended by a friend. Seating on the patio was great albeit a bit dark - everyone using their cell phone to read the menus. Companion's crab cakes were very good by her statement. The pork schnitzel I ordered however while large in portion had absolutely no flavor. It was as dry as a bone in the desert and as tough to cut and chew as a piece of rawhide. Had wait staff come back to the table to check on us before my companion was finished to ask how everything was, perhaps management would have made corrections. At $60.00 with just one small glass of wine, IMHO, it was not worth it. As my father would oft' times say ... "You pay the same for what you want as what you get." Next time, I'll go somewhere were I get what I want.
This was our first visit and we loved it ! Food was wonderful , restaurant was beautiful . Our waiter was ok but the buser made up for it with excellent service !
We enjoyed the Restaurant Week menu - delicious! And a good value.
Everything was fabulous!
I have never had a bad time or meal at Tonto's, will continue to dine there. Most of the time I order the schnitzel and once again, was not disappointed.
Lovely evening with friends on the patio under the lights and stars -- Outstanding service; tables spaced for social distancing and safety; polite and knowledgeable waiters; tasty food; ample portions; A++ rating!
Nice dinner on the patio. Everything was pretty good.
Everything was relatively great, but I was surprised at how bland my food was on the entre I ordered. I had the filet, asparagus and mashed potatoes and wasn't blown away by it at all. The meat was a little tougher for such a nice cut of meat. Overall it fine though. Service was great. It was way too dark outside though. The overhead lights didn't help so that was a little odd. But the environment was lovely.
Tonto Grill is one of our go to places. The patio is beautiful, the service is always wonderful, and the foods terrific. Try the 3 Sisters salsa and guacamole...amazing!
Tried Walleye for first time. Very good. Enjoyed dinner with friends.
Wonderful! As always!
We have dined at Tonto for both lunch and dinner for over 11 years. This visit was terribly disappointing. I ordered the crabcake appetizer as my entrée. I was served two very small crabcakes which were overly brown on the outside. The flavor was acceptable. The price for the crabcakes was $14. The value and flavor for the price was disappointing.
My husband ordered beef tip tacos which he has ordered many times over the years. Originally, these were filet strips. They have since become beef tips. He was served a small portion of cubed beef and the flavor as well as the beef were not up to his expectations and prior experience.
He returned this entrée and was provided an option to order some thing else which he did. He ordered their tuna roll which is done in a tempura fashion. He enjoyed that dinner. The manager did come to speak with us and apologized and also offered dessert. I had the caramel sea salt ice cream which was delicious and he had the piña colada sorbet which was also very good.
The Tonto has been our go to restaurant and a favorite over the years. I’m not sure when we might return again.
Very enjoyable experience. Good food and friendly service. When we got there on Friday the place was busy. No signs of COVID recession! This place is bustling! And deservedly so - beautiful ambiente, perfect views of the golf course, and good food. A world apart from the rest of cowboy/biker town Cave Creek.
Love the atmosphere. Think about getting a valet, to park cars. This neighborhood gem is getting crowded!
My husband and I were both very happy with everything we ordered; the service was great and outdoors, with a view of the golf course, was a quiet, peaceful atmosphere. Will return for sure.
Tonto has both indoor and outdoor seating, and my spouse and I took advantage of a mild evening to sit outside, our first time doing so after being customers for several years. A loud group nearby made the choice not as nice as it could have been. The food was absolutely superb, as was the service. When we want to treat ourselves, Tonto is our top choice.
Beautiful resort with amazing views Of the golf course from the patio. The Crab cakes are delicious!!
