This is a very noisy and busy bar with high end pub food. It was good, but certainly not fine dining. If going there, you might want to adjust your expectations. That being said, the cheesecake was fantastic!
Tondee’s serves a delicious filet mignon. When you walk in, it appears to be very casual and like the food might be only ok, but the food is very good. Highly recommend trying Tondee’s when you are in Savannah.
I went on a food tour that let us sample the shrimp and grits as well as homemade cheesecake. Both were so outstanding I had to come back for full size portions. Loved it!
Table for 12 at 1 pm, seating available immediately when the party arrived, with immediate service. Took a little longer than desired for food to arrive, but everyone said their meal was good. Will eat here again!
10/10 would recommend to anyone. Casual pubfare for good prices accompanied by amazing service.
Tatiana the bartender was incredibly polite and friendly and efficient. Our server Keira was equally pleasant. I had an issue with the ribs being salty. I understand that things happen a sign of a great restaurant with great people is how they handle issues. The manager was at our table within seconds forgive me I do not remember her name she handled it flawlessly. I couldn’t have been more pleased how everything was handled I would and will recommend this restaurant to all.
Great cocktails, great food and excellent service. Casual atmosphere with 5 star experience. Order the ribeye! You won't be disappointed
Just ate here this Sunday afternoon. Wonderful spot for a quick and delicious lunch. I noticed a sign that said they serve $5 lunch specials on the weekdays when we were on our way out the door. We will be back for a lunch special
Michael, was a great server, he was everything you would want in a Server, pleasant, attentive, knowledgeable, and interactive. The food was amazingly my and just an all around great atmosphere. My family loved it and we will be back!!!
Order the Mac & Cheese Burger. It's as good as it sounds!
Came in for an early dinner with my husband on Saturday. I ordered a pasta bowl, you get to pick your sauce, noodles and protein. I got a steak pasta with alfredo sauce and our server recommended to toss steamed broccoli. It was excellent. I ordered my steak medium rare and it came out perfect. My husband got a crab cake stuffed flounder that he said was delicious. I guess I'll have to take his word for it because he didn't save even a single bite for me to try haha. They say the sound of a good meal is silence and I don't think we said a word to each other the whole time our entrees were on the table! Great food and great service!!
Came here for a girl's trip. Our server Kasseem (?) made our experience great. He recommended we shared the Captain's Platter and try the local IPA. The Captain's Platter was seriously so. much. food. We could hardly finish it but we forced ourselves to because it tasted so good. (Plus guzzling beer to help wash it down) The batter was crisp, light and not greasy. The flounder literally flaked apart. Kasseem joked with us and made us feel at home. We had a blast. Definitely recommend.
Great food and great service. Had the clam and mussel pot and calamari app. Didn't have room for dessert but will be back to try their famous cheesecake some day
Must try their baby back ribs! BBQ sauce is original recipe. Tondee's is not a chain, it is locally owned and family operated. Support local business!
Enjoyed the shrimp and grits as well as Mac n’ cheese burger
Wonderful food and service. Portions were large and pretty much everything on the sounded great. Lots of options to choose from. Try their fall off the bone ribs! Save room for homemade cheesecake too.
Came here for an afternoon lunch on Saturday. I had the shrimp and grits and my wife had the low country boil. Both dishes were great. Very well seasoned and tasted very fresh. The portions were also very big. I thought the prices were really good compared to most places in the area. Friendly service too.
Originally had reservations for 6:30 but showed up early. Best decision ever because we were in time for their ribeye and shrimp special, only $13! Unbelievable quality for that price!!
Chicken fingers & fried green tomatoes are wonderful! Most impressed with the service. Our swesrver, Fed, was great!
I went here tonight with my daughter-in-law and it was absolutely fantastic. The service was friendly and always spot on. I ordered the ribs and they were delicious! My daughter in law had the fish and shrimp combo and the proportions were huge! It had such a nice atmosphere. I can't wait to visit again the next time we're in town.
Came here for my husband’s birthday. He got the ribeye and I got the stuffed flounder. The ribeye was cooked correctly and HUGE. Best ribeye for that price I’ve seen. Especially for being in the tourist area. My stuffed flounder was paired with a dill lemon sauce. It was so good we asked the server for the recipe but he told us it was a secret :). Guess we will just have to come back! My husband received a complimentary key lime cheesecake for his birthday. It was baked in a jar and we got to keep it as a souvenir. Thank you, tondees staff, for making this day special!
We had a terrible dining experience at Tondee’s. The atmosphere and food were great but our server was awful. Thank god for Desi (so?)..she was another server who had all the tables around us and she came over and talked to us after we asked our server to see the manager. She apologized for our bad experience. She had watched all evening and said she couldn’t believe the poor service we received. She picked up our bill and said that the dinner was on the house AND gave us another round of drinks! What could have been a disastrous evening was saved by Desi. I would go back but I wouldn’t have Yvonne for a server!
Thought this would be a great casual spot to meet up with an old time friend. We came here on thursday and it was pretty busy but were greeted by our server right away. Even though the restaurant was filling up they never made us feel rushed. They kept the beers coming and we had serveral appetizers. The grilled oysters were by far the best I’ve ever had. So much cheese and bacon. Yum! We ate and drank until we couldn’t anymore. By the time we were done we had been there for 2.5 hours! Time flies when you have great food, drinks and service. Will be back again!!!
Service was very slow and was almost finished with meal before we got a drink refill. Waiters very nice but again I expected to be offered a feeling before having to ask considering my glass was empty for at least 15 minutes. Food was just okay. Overrated and unlikely that I’ll return as there are too many other better options in Savannah.
We made a reservation for 7pm and got there at 6:40, were told to come back in 15 minutes, then were called 5 minutes later asking if we were keeping our reservation and when I told them we were just at the desk they said our table was ready and told us to come back. We went back in and they seated us at an unclean table and said someone would come wipe it down. Our poor server realized they rushed us to a dirty table and came back to clean it.
The food was unimpressive. The crab stew was too sweet and while the table was bussed, it wasn't reset properly and there was no salt and pepper to add. The dynamite shrimp were drenched in a sweet sauce and not spicy at all, slightly soggy. The grilled oysters were overloaded with cheese and bacon to the point where you couldn't taste the oysters. The burger was unimpressive and overcooked (medium rare, came out well). The low country boil didn't taste like it was boiled in anything but water and then some cajun spice sprinkled on in the end so the shells got all of the flavor, the shrimp were also overcooked. The shrimp trio had two types of breaded shrimp, one normal and one parmesan garlic, and we couldn't tell the difference.
The service was about the only good thing about the experience, the servers were all really nice and personable.
I honestly would't go back with so many other options in the area. Too bad, because it's a really neat historic building.
We did not have a good experience. Our service was poor and the food was not good. I would not recommend this restaurant
Made reservation for 7 at 8 . Showed up at 8:01 and they had give. Our table away .
Good home style food in a fun location with history
Lots of food options in Savannah...I wouldn’t go here with so many other options that also offer better service.
We had a nice dinner after waiting quite a while for drinks and food. There’s a lot of employees but not a sense of urgency.
We were here for a Bachelorette party and did not have reservations. They were so accommodating and the service was so wonderful!
We had a large party of 14 and our service was the best I have had in years. Absolutely amazing. Our server was knowledgeable, gave great recommendations, delivered our food and drinks promptly and we never had to ask for anything. Next time we are in savannah we will definitely be back!
Thanks for a great evening!
I am so impressed with Tondee's Tavern that I've been so far a total of 4 times in the last month.
The food was great! Our server did not offer dessert, which was kind of disappointing because Tondee's has some good cheesecake. He took drink orders one at a time and he mostly served everyone their drinks one at a time, but everything turned out great. Errors were hardly a problem since we entertained each other, and we were so deep in conversation. I'd say that he earned his tip.
The food was delicious. We were sharing some dishes. I will come back, eat less dinner, and get the cheesecake.
Cocktails at the bar were awesome. I hope they keep those!!!
We had high hopes for this restaurant. While the employees were polite, the service left a lot to be desired. Service was really slow and at times, no where to be found. After waiting 30 minutes for an appetizer the kitchen refused to make, and another 20, we finally received some cold and some overcooked food. We requested the appetizer be removed from our bill. One meal was sent back to the kitchen. The cook delivered the returned food himself. This is when we were informed he was the only one in the kitchen. While this is all going on, we noticed that several tables had not received their food. All were tables where the clients had ordered before us. After hearing they only had one person in the kitchen, that does explain why things we're slow, but it doesn't excuse the bad service. Customers should be told upfront that the restaurant is short staffed. Doing this would allow the customer to choose whether to stay or go and more than likely be a little more understanding. While the staff was apologetic and offered a free dessert, our only option was a cheesecake. Unfortunately, this whole experience was less than stellar and we will not be giving this restaurant a second chance.
We were looking forward to a casual dinner after walking around Savannah all afternoon. We were sat in the basement which was a pretty strange environment. Our booth was up against a brick wall and there was dust from the bricks all over the table when we sat down. Our server finally came to the table and told us that he didn't know he had a table in the basement. He sat down at the next table and began taking our order. We waited FOREVER for the food to come out and when it finally did , the staff looked confused as to what table to take it to and asked us what we ordered. They also did not bring us all of what we ordered. The food was probably the best part, and that's not saying much. We then sat there waiting for anyone to come back to order more drinks, take our dirty plates....anything! We stacked all of our plates at the end of the table as a hint but they never got picked up. Our server finally came back and offered us a free cheesecake because not all the food came out. We declined, we just wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible. When you go out to dinner, it's a treat. I used to wait tables for years and always went out of my way to make sure the customer had everything they needed, checked on them often, talked to them and for goodness sake, bused the table when they were done eating. Who likes sitting in front of dirty dishes? Overall it was a very disappointing experience and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Savannah.
The food was pretty good but the service was awful. We waited approximately 45 minutes for our food when I finally asked the waitress what was taking so long. She explained they had difficulty with a large party that kept changing their minds. Our food finally arrived another 20 minutes later. I have an issue with neglecting other patrons for a group of idiots that can’t decide what they want or if they even want to dine in the restaurant. I have a bigger issue with the failure to communicate the delays in service. The waitress should have talked to us 20 something minutes into the wait. Better yet, management was aware of the issue and should have taken the time to speak to us. We didn’t see the manager on duty until 30 min after getting our food to offer 25% off the bill. Over and hour wait for food and zero communication until I inquired, this should be more like 50% off. I understand dealing with difficult customers but neglecting others who have waited patiently and failure to communicate is a complete turn off.
It was Irish heritage day and they were not prepared. Ran out of Coke, Hot sauce, grits, forks, appetizer plates, cheesecake. Poor girls sitting next to us were celebrating a bachelorette party and we're not having a festive time at all. Thank goodness the food was good. Except for that firecracker shrimp wtf was that thousand island topping?
Crazy busy but staff held it together and took great care of us!! All staff was wonderful from the hostess to the waiters 💜💜💜
