Gulf Fish Capri
Louisiana crawfish and blue crab, artichoke, tomato, lemon-caper butter sauce
Baked Oysters Tommy
Bacon, lemon garlic crumbs
Gulf shrimp, calamari, gulf fish, mussels, fennel, tomato broth
This was one of the worst dining experiences ever. We eat out often, and this was by far a lack luster meal and experience. To get a bottle of wine delivered almost an hour after being sat starts off how the rest of the meal went.... dishes arriving 30min to another hour later in a very sporadic order if they even arrived at all (most items had to be reordered). The manager on duty also had a newer employee try to handle the problem instead of coming to address the problem themselves. Avoid this restaurant unless it is a last resort and you have multiple hours to wait and eat mediocre food.
We always enjoy Tommy's and on this evening the food was excellent. However, this experience was not what we normally get at Tommy's. It took 30 minutes to get our drink after ordering once we were seated. On two occasions the drinks were incorrect - there were seven of us in our party. Two of the entrees came out right after we got our salads and we never received one salad despite having reminded them after they delivered the first group. The rest of the entrees came out 30 minutes after the first two were delivered and after those had long been consumed. We were offered dessert to compensate for the issues but overall there were not a lot of things to like about this dining experience. Again the food was good and the servers did the best they could, but there were obvious issues with timing in the kitchen as well as accuracy from the bar. We will go back because we love Tommy's but this is not what we expected.
Disappointing. We have been here before and thoroughly enjoyed it. In fact, we have returned with other family and friends on several occasions. Went there for our 33rd wedding anniversary. Despite the reservation clerk acknowledging this fact, nothing else was done by the restaurant to embellish the moment. Not a glass of house champagne; not even a "Happy Anniversary" from the wait staff. Oh well, maybe I was expecting too much.
The appetizers were fine, only that they brought our entrees before we had finished our appetizers. The filet mignon, while cooked to order, was served with an un-melted block of butter on top. I thought this was unusual as it didn't melt because the filet was not warmer enough to melt the butter. The roasted potatoes that accompanied the filet were nothing more than undercooked, square hash browns. The creme brulee with fresh berries failed to fill even 1/4 depth of the cup within which it was served. Oh, and the "fresh berries" amounted to four blueberries. My wife had the duck tchoupitoulas which was fine, as was the bread pudding. The waiter staff was fine.
With the amount of fine restaurants in New Orleans, sadly, I don't think we will be returning to Tommy's anytime soon. I hope they can improve their game.
Experience was horrible. First we were sat in a corner of the front room behind a pole. Took about 10 mins for the server to come greet us. That room hosted the two of us and another bigger party. Not sure if it was because of the bigger party that we received bad service or if it wasn’t because of where we were seated. Either way I feel there shouldn’t be a table to seat guests behind a pole and tucked away in a corner.
After placing our order, my soup arrived without a spoon. My girlfriend’s eggplant were fried so long they were burnt. Note: the server was not the person who brought out the appetizers - assuming it was a food runner. We tried to get other workers attention, but was unsuccessful. I was about to get up to go to the bar area and request a spoon myself when the server finally stopped by to ask about the appetizers - we waited about 5 mins between the app arrival and him coming back.
Entrees arrived next. We both got the shrimp linguine entree. The dish was not hot and the shrimps looked bad. I didn’t eat mine but my girlfriend finished hers. She said the shrimps tasted bad and were mushy but she was hungry. Lol.
Desserts came and was tasty. Our bottle of wine was also good. We ordered the garlic bread and crab cake app as well. Garlic bread was okay. Crab cakes were also just okay.
The night ended with my girlfriend being sick from her entree. Immediately when we got home, she felt sick. We think it’s from the shrimp. Make note: we’ve been here for coolinary before and had the same entree. The shrimp this time were small in comparison to the previous time. In addition we think it was also bad since they tasted funny and my girlfriend got sick from it.
This experience overall was poor as our server was not attentive and food was not good. We do not plan on coming back to Tommy’s.
Tommy’s is a great go to for my wife and friends. Great food, service and ambiance. Been a regular for many years .
The restaurant advertises outdoor seating. We were expecting maybe a courtyard type setting. They had one table out front on the sidewalk, not the best setting for a great meal. The food and service was fantastic. I would recommend indoor dinning though.
Waiter was exceptional, Halloween costume and all (wonderful “Joker” costume btw). Food was very good, but admittedly has been better on previous visits, but this is a high bar. I’d recommend and will be back, New Orleans staple, hanging on as best they can during these trying times. Visit if in town or a local looking for something they haven’t tried.
We had a great time at Tommys. It was great food and great service. Our waiter Leon was very nice and made our experience pleasant. We will definitely be back
The food was absolutely AMAZING! Was a bit disappointed because the tables were absolutely less than 6ft apart. We were maybe 3ft from the other guest, and requested to move to a table that was in a corner.
I've booked with Tommy's in the past and have always enjoyed my dining experience. The ambience, food, wine and service was very good. The restaurant is easily accessible by car or public transportation and is in a safe part of New Orleans the 'warehouse district'!
Definitely will return again!
This was our second time to dine at Tommy's! It was incredible again! Highly recommend!
Great food and atmosphere!
Loved sitting outside
Celebrating sisters birthday. Waitress brought complimentary champagne toast and made several suggestions, the eggplant appetizer was excellent. They accommodated special requests for entree and it was delicious. It is deforest a place I will be going back to ad recommending to others.
Food and our sever (Nikko) was superb. Next time in NOLA, I will be back.
Wonderful place with great ambiance. Food was great and service was excellent! My first time to eat here and I'll be back. Another New Orleans gem.
Always a great time at Tommy’s. Love the food and atmosphere
Paid a hefty travel fee, got there and they were closed. My children were starving and tired so we had to walk around in rain and find alternate place to eat.
Overall experience was great!
Staff at Tommy’s were very accommodating
Prefacing this review, coming from DC, I have high standards for food and service. Tommy’s cuisine has been the best dining experience within the radius of where I live, The Cotton Mill.
Service was exemplary, especially considering our waitress has only been working there for two days. As a person who pays attention to detail, the only faults of the waitress was when she poured the wine and when she was collecting the finished dishes.
I noticed she had an issue with getting the cork screw to work properly. Subsequently, she decided to take the bottle to the back and have someone assist with taking the cork out. What she should have done was, leave the bottle at the table and have someone come and assist her. This is minor but something I caught.
Secondly, when clearing a table, wait staff should not stack plates. This is also very minor.
The food was prepared to perfection. I always get calamari, as it it an indicator of the cooking staff’s ability and attention to detail. I don’t think I have had better prepared calamari. Although the presentation was plain, it was well prepared and tasted very good.
The main course was as good, as indicated from the calamari. I ordered the filet mignon and it was cooked as ordered. The broccolini was cooked perfectly with the exact amount of crunch, to keep the vitamins and minerals.
The waitress was extremely pleasant. Curiously, I asked I if she had training, and she said she did. Upon asking how long her training was, she said it was one day. Based on my dining experience, she did a superb job and her service surpassed her one day of training. Subsequently, as her service was exemplary, I left her a note on the receipt stating that it was the best service I have received. This is out of the restaurants I have been to, including, “La Boca,” horrible service and mediocre food, “Annunciations,” good food, decent service, “The Mill,” good food and service, and others not worthy of mentioning.
This place is a, “Must Go!”
Great experience and food, wonderful staff and service
Disappointed this time. Shells in the soup and overall food not that great. I have had exceptional there but not this time.
There were ten of us,they put us in a semi private dining room. That was fine but they sat another table of ten in the same room after us! They didn’t seem to like our talking and laughing but no big deal! They got there food way before ours, they finished and left right before we got our food.we didn’t get our food until around 10pm we we’re seated at 7:15!
We were the last people to leave the restaurant at almost 11:00.I must say food was good and waitress did attend to us! We will go back though!!!
Birthday but nothing for it
1st time - food & service were outstanding!
Definitely on the "go to" restaurant list!
We dined for dinner ( 2 couples). A good selection of wine was 1/2 price (per bottle).
Bread and Olive Oil was brought to the table complimentary.
Pricing and Portions were average for NOLA. Everyone enjoyed their Entree's
Veal - cooked perfectly. Meatballs and Spaghetti were delicious.
The only complaint we had was the table size. The tables are more of a 2 person setting - just too tight for dining of 4 !
I had booked this reservation for 4 career bartenders who’ve been out of work due to Covid. We hadn’t seen each other bc of the pandemic and had 3 birthdays to celebrate. I’d never been to Tommy’s but had wanted to try it and saw the coolinary menu online and thought it looked incredible. I loved the ambiance and lighting as well as the decor and the mirrors and walking in and out through the wine room is a cute setup. Tommy’s blew us out of the park. Our server Leon was amazing. We ended up all ordering cocktails and appetizers and the coolinary menu and 3 or 4 bottles of wine. We stayed for hours. Leon was so kind and attentive and demonstrated such good knowledge about the menu that even thought we were literally all going to order a 3 course coolinary menu, we ordered 3 additional appetizers and a salad because the way Leon described them left us no other option but to try everything. Our glasses were never empty during the over three hours we spent there. We had planned on having a cocktail and maybe some wine with dinner but enjoyed ourself so much and Leon was so attentive we ordered several bottles. I really enjoyed the sparkling rose. The meatballs were awesome and I’m super particular about meatballs because I grew up with a Sicilian father who made his own every Friday. Spinach dip was delicious and the burrata caprese salad was awesome as well. My friends loved the crab and corn bisque, the crispy eggplant was awesome and I loved the sauces, and the artichokes were a great touch in the dinner salad. Two of us got chicken and two of us got the pork and we really enjoyed them but boxes it after a bite or two to make room for dessert and wine. The tiramisu was delicious and had a great texture and I loved the chocolate sauce but that bananas fosters bread pudding was out of this world. I contemplated asking for some of the caramel sauce to go to use at home and perhaps drizzle all over my man. The food was amazing and Leon was an immaculate server.
Had my anniversary dinner here! Great service! Highly recommend!
Food was exceptional and we felt that the restaurant strictly followed the COVID restrictions! We'll be back
Veal was excellent
We totally enjoyed everythign about To9mmy's The food the atmoshere, the bartender's great cocktails, our waitress and the price - We will definitely recommend and return.
Everything was perfectly cooked and the service was fantastic. Tommy’s may have the best turtle soup in New Orleans.
Tommy's Cuisine is our favorite restaurant in NOLA! The staff is incredible, the food is even better.
It was a wonderful experience! Will definitely be back!
We felt very ignored throughout the entire dining experience. Showed up 5 minutes early for our 8:15 pm reservation, but weren't seated until 8:50. There were 4 of us, young professionals (26-30 yo) and we were treated like we didn't exist. The restaurant was filled with what looked like elderly, stuck up, loud people. We clearly did not fit in, and we felt ostracized.
Additionally, food portion sizes were way too small. "Pork tenderloin plate" was just two small pork medallions. The men in our group left the restaurant still very, very hungry.
ALSO, I was given a cocktail menu, and when I asked for a Gin Bail Smash, I was told "We are out of basil. We are actually out of a lot of things, we just got our bartender back this week so we can't make much." Thankfully, a weak French 75 was doable.
Overall, very, very dissatisfied.
good experience and management handled a problem I had with great aplomb. Will be back of course. Great restaurant.
We had a great time. The food, wine, service, the company, the atmosphere, everything was excellent.
Very nice. Great food. Waitress was fantastic , very friendly and personable.
Food was fantastic, service was slow, so just be prepared for that. Wine specials were a great deal at half off bottles
