Tommy V's Urban Kitchen Ratings and Reviews
We made a reservation for 6 pm and the table was not ready until 6:10 and then no water was brought to us until 6:25. Ordered starters to share and had to ask for plates and silver ware. ordered a second drink from the bar and the waiter had to wait until the first was finished and came back to get the glass to be re-used. Spent $300.00 on dinner and will not ever go back.
Overall, a great dining experience. Nice neighborhood setting, very friendly and attentive service. We have been there a number of times and enjoyed it. Their Burrata & Avocado Panna Cotta was EXCELLENT—a very light and enjoyable appetizer. Each time that I have had one of their fish selections, it has been good.
Overall, the dining experience was good. The steak bruschetta could have offered a a more generous portion of meat; the chicken parmesan red sauce was delicious; however, it was served with a rich gnocchi/pesto. Each dish on its own was delicious, but together, the red tomato sauce and rich pesto were overpowering.
The service was slow; as we were not in a rush it was not an issue.
The classical guitarist was wonderful.
Chose to sit on patio as inside dining room is loud. Lovely outside - heat lamps always available if needed. Had the bartender's own creation - capellini with vodka sauce and meatballs - awesome. My friend had salmon and artichokes. All topped off with Tiramisu. Will definitely be back again soon.
Food is pretty good, but inside the noise level is so high, that it is impossible to have a conversation, which is why I requested the patio for our Ladies luncheon. Unfortunately
I was totally ignored when I mentioned my reservation with the preferred seating request. Although I was lucky after all, because one of the ladies seems to be known - and upon her request they managed to put tables together for us. We only go there with friends that seem to like it. If we crave Italien food, Firenze in Escondido is much more to our liking.
I took two girlfriends who were visiting from Houston here the other day for lunch. It took quite a few minutes to get seated even though the restaurant was only one third full. Then it took quite a long time to get our order taken and getting our food took forever. Not sure what was going on but waiting for almost 30 minutes for a flatbread and sandwiches was ridiculous. The pear flatbread was good but not very flavorful....missing something to make it really delicious. The girls ordered the meatball panini and thought it was delicious. I will definitely go back but it wasn't quite up to the standard that I normally see here. Maybe just an off day so I will try again.
Great menu. Highly recommend the artichoke appetizer. One of us had the filet mignon and it and the sauce were perfect. Only complaint was that the salmon and crab penne should be renamed salmon and salmon penne. The crab was not visible. Very dog friendly patio.
Food was very tasty and reasonably priced. We all tried different dishes and were very happy with the results. Presentation was nice and the wait staff was very accommodating. We got there late and there was only the regulars at the bar. Around 9pm the place started to fill up and really start hopping. Seems like this is a locals hangout with good food, a great bar, and good service.
I'll start by saying the calamari appetizer was one of the best I've had. Very tender and delicious. I was not a fan of the creamy French onion soup. Not quite what I expected. It was ok, just not my favorite. My wife had the eggplant and said it was very good. I had the short rib pappardelle dish. It was ok. Again not the best pappardelle noodles or sauce I've had, but the short rib meat was very good. We will likely try this place again and try some new dishes. Worth a second chance.
First impression was not good at all. It's a large space and there were only 2-4 tables. It got somewhat busier, but not much. Adding to making an awful impression was the fact that, having never been to that area, the entry was not obvious at all. We went to a door near the bar area. It was locked - however, a server was standing right next to it. She looked right at us and walked away. When we did finally make it inside, we stood at the podium for at least a couple of minutes while 3 servers looked at us and walked right on by. I finally went to find help (we should have just walked out). A girl begrudgingly lead us to a table.
Suffice it to say I will never take anyone there again!
Family in town and was looking for great casual Italian food without going into town. This was great selection with great food and service. Bobby did a great job with my father-in-law who is very picky about this food and service. We all had a great time and meal in casual, quiet setting.
We had dinner with friends who were visiting from Orange County. Sonny was our server and he was excellent and very personable and friendly. We were greeted by Francisco and Bobby who we knew from their days at Tuscany. The martinis were ice cold and delicious with blue cheese-stuffed olives. The romaine wedge salad was delicious and a nice change from the typical wedge salad with iceberg lettuce. All of our meals were great but the carbonara my husband ordered was the best. It was my birthday celebration so they delivered the most delicious tiramisu... truly one of the best I have ever had. We all loved our evening there and the food was out of this world. Highly recommend!
New to the area, this was my third time in one week eating here, so it must be a good find! First time was a late dinner with girlfriends, second time was for happy hour, third time was with family. Servings are generous, well priced and everything always comes out piping hot! Both creative selections and traditional Italian, we haven't had a bad dish yet!
Looked Tommy V's up on Open Table and made the reservation based on the overall rating. The dining experiences lived up to the rating. The pork chop was incredible, but the pasta was worth coming back for again and again. Fresh ingredients all around. Highly recommend saving room for the Tiramisu.
Restaurant was very, very loud. Bar patrons were literally shouting at each other during the first hour of our visit. We almost left after our drink order but decided to stay for dinner only because of the attentive service. The food was fine but we hesitate to return because of the wild bar scene. The waitstaff acknowledged that this was a real problem, especially on Friday night.
I booked this restaurant the day before for a very large group (20). They were amazing! Service was great. Brought out a cake for someone in our company who had a birthday, it was relaxed, the lighting was beautiful; we would definitely go again! Thank you!
Food and drinks were amazing.
Great location, great vibe...
Only issue was the loud family (kids- 10ish) who were loud....I would have been nice if the manager would have asked them to simply
We will try again,...hoping this was just one time situation.
Again, awesome food!!!
