Tommy Bahama Restaurant & Bar - Wailea, Maui Ratings and Reviews
Food was good and up until near the end of the evening the service was excellent. We were asked if we wanted to see a dessert menu and we said yes. But it took the waiter approximately 15 minutes to return. As that point, we passed on dessert. The manager did come over and apologize and made an adjustment on the bill. The restaurant gets very busy and it quite loud.
This was a return visit for us to coincide with our return to Maui. The fish was excellent and the asparagus was perfectly grilled. The bread and butter was of course amazing. Sadly there was no cheesecake on the dessert menu this time hand and the other options didn't strike our fancy. Service was excellent and the live music, delightful.
The singing entertainment was very good. The food was okay. I got the ribs and they were decent, but came with fries that were cold and you could tell had been sitting a long time. Drinks took quite a bit of time as well. The patio was nice to dine on and I would go back but it’s nowhere near as good as other places in the area.
Was disappointed in “timing” & “service” ... We felt we were an inconvenience; and they wanted us out the door. We were served “our bread” & “our appetizer” at the same time AND within moments of our appetizer plates being cleared our dinner arrived. Is it because my husband only ordered a single glass of wine ? Is it because I don’t drink and asked for a coffee & water? ... We will never know and we won’t be going back to find out if it was a solitary experience or a regular feature.
It’s was disappointing. Wanted to sit at the bar but there were multiply children allowed to sit there. Too bad lost income for those seats
The service was good. Very busy.
I ordered the crab stuffed shrimp.
The shrimp were not cooked. They took it off my check but it will be a long time before I eat s shrimp again. You would think they would have this down perfect.
Will not go back.
Too bad. Too busy to need us.
The location is lovely. Garden like and reasonably spacious. The menu is diverse and the food quality, if not foodie focused. Service was excellent. Our waiter, Taggert, was superior - friendly, knowledgable, responsive, perfectly attentive. We were pleased.
We went for NYE this year and it was the worst meal we had on Maui. Some of the meal problems included: waiting over 15 mins for drinks (then afterwards came back and asked if wanted the Manhattan on the rocks or neat - I think he forgot to put the order in), the restaurant ran out of sparkling water (never experienced that one before), we all had to ask for spoons for our 4 soups, repeatedly asked for bread for the table, had to ask for a steak knife for our steak, which was barely cooked. It seemed like our waiter was brand new and had no idea what was going on — maybe NYE wasn’t the best shift for him. Waiter was very friendly but overwhelmed. Overall - no need to ever go back.
The food is highly overpriced for the quality. The food is no better than what you would get at Ruby Tuesday. This is definitely not higher end dining at a high end price. We should have trusted our first instinct. Sadly it was also our final night on vacation. Very disappointing.
What a great restaurant that uses fresh and local when possible. For being a ‘chain’ you don’t get that feel of same ol’. Everything was amazing - we chose a few things off the daily specials and loved them all. But you cannot beat their best maitai on Maui!
I always like Tommy Bahama when visiting Wailea.
I could eat there every night if there werent so many wonderful places to try on the Island. I had the fish and my kids ate off the kids menu with no complaints. Hooray!
Bar tenders know there business which is important on vacation
Thank you Tommy Bahama for your consistency.
The service was very poor. We come to the island every year at this time and have always included this restaurant in our line up.
Last year it was not up to par but we decided to give it a chance this year. Unfortunately it proved to be worse than last year.
Despite booking well in advance the first table we got was by the washroom, and then when we asked if we could be moved to many of the other available tables we saw we were placed in an area reserved for people with young children.
The drinks took long to arrive, they forgot to bring bread until we asked twice and Then the meal itself took over 1 hour to arrive after we ordered. The food itself was good once it got to us but unfortunately the dining experience offset this.
Unfortunately we will not return in the future.
It could of been an off night seeing we frequent this restaurant every Christmas season but last night was pretty bad.
Service was very slow, a simple beet salad was pretty bad — the beets were not cooked. Hard and raw. Very very little goat cheese on the plate. We order the Sanibel chicken. The plate was hot the chicken was cold. A filet mignon came out like shoe leather//
We had the best dinner of our two week vacation! Our favourite lobster bisque was still on the menu(thank goodness) and the filet was to die for. Best steak of our trip! And then at the recommendation of our server we tried the peanut butter pie ..... we left very, very full and happy we made the reservation! Thank you for your continued good food and service, see you again in March.
