Tommy Bahama Restaurant & Bar - Wailea, Maui Ratings and Reviews
Tommy’s is one of our favourites. But the screaming, whiney brats around us made for a distinctly unpleasant evening out. May we suggest that families be seated away from others who are looking for a nice quiet and romantic date. Also large groups should be seated next to each other as the ultra loud cackling made it hard to hear each other.
Mahalo for listening and Mele kaliki maka to all🧜🏼♀️😡🐳🌴🌴☀️❤️🐠
We have used Tommy’s here and elsewhere when we travel fairly often. Generally a good and predictable meal. However, on this occasion we were very disappointed in our evening. One of our party ordered coconut shrimp and broccolini as their meal. The shrimp was gray and obviously not cooked. When we asked our server to take it back, she offered to have it replaced but the appetite for shrimp had passed so we said no thanks. At that point our server became what I would describe at best as cold and probably closer to rude. At no point was an apology offered and we were made to feel as this was somehow our fault.
We have eaten here at least once on our annual trip to Maui but most likely won’t be returning.
I have dined at this restaurant many times this last one was unfortunate. The place got slammed and wasn't prepared ,food was not good the server was good but couldn't get his orders and then paid $21 to park even though the ticket was validated. Will be back as all other visits have been excellent
We have eaten at TB on a regular basis and this was our least favorite experience. The noise level was terrible. I ordered a drink and it didn’t arrive until after we were finished with our appetizer. We love the coconut shrimp and are server was very nice. However, it was hard to ignore the noise of a nearby large party and shrieking children.
Making a reservation was a total waste of time. Not only did we have to wait approximately 10 minutes for our table; there were several walk-ins that just came in and sat down wherever they desired (while we were waiting at the front reception). A simple "Please wait to be seated" sign at the door is strongly suggested. If the girls at the desk cannot handle the influx of people; perhaps the manager needs to step in to help?
The food was good and our waiter attentive once we were seated.
our hostess made us feel like we were bothering her, she should welcome you and make you feel at home, bad first impression. I had the prime rib sandwich ,very tasty except for the two pieces of fat that I didn't appreciate. Otherwise it was OK, it could have been great.
We had a solid meal at TB. We especially loved the yummy warm bread and flavored butter that was brought to the table. My faro salad was good. It was more like a side of faro with a side of grilled vegetables and a piece of chicken instead of a tossed salad that I was expecting. My kids weren't huge fans of the pizza, but everyone else in our party was happy with their meal. The manager and server were both very friendly and attentive.
What a disappointment. We had been here a few nights before and had an amazing dinner, service, and food, only to return to an experience on the opposite end of the spectrum. We had a reservation for an outside table at 7 pm. We arrived at 6:45 and waited. At 7:15 they tried to seat is at an indoor table in the back of the restaurant next to a party of 18, 1/2 of whom were children under the age of 8. I sat down and my chair was wet. Being hard of hearing we realized dinner would be miserable and said we would wait for an outdoor table. We waited to be seated another 20 min. By the time we sat down we were starving. Appetizer and salad arrived before bread, water and drinks. Service was poor. Main courses ( which were the same as what we ordered 2 nights before were delayed and ahi tacos that we love very spicy and not as enjoyable.
Tommy Bahamas is always one of our favorites and we were so excited to be back, and so disappointed at the poor experience of it all last night. Clearly they got busy and couldn’t handle it.
The main reason for a low score was after we had made it clear our son has a soy & dairy allergy, after checking everything with the chef and double checking everything selected, we were still served mash potato with butter in it....and then the only compensation other than apologies was a voucher for 1 free appetizer if we come back again. I left that as their tip as I can safely say we won’t be back.
