Tommy Bahama Restaurant & Bar - Scottsdale Ratings and Reviews
Decided to take my daughter out for a nice dinner. We had reservations for 6p and arrived a few minutes early. After being shown our table, we proceeded to wait 25 minutes without any acknowledgement from any of the servers. There were plenty in the area - just none that decided to come to our table. ;)
I then went up to the host stand to see if they could direct one of the servers to our table. Instead, one of the female managers came by to take our drink and appetizer order. By this point, my daughter and I had to log into our phones to check-in for our Southwest flight which was scheduled to depart the next evening (those who are familiar with the Southwest Airlines check in process understand the need for timely check in).
As a result of the restaurant’s original delay, we had no choice but to check in while our drinks and appetizers were being delivered. Much to my dissatisfaction, the manager proceeded to then make a snarky comment on how we should move our phones to make room for the food “as our phones are ‘clearly’ very important to us”. IMO, this comment was uncalled for given she had no idea why we were on our phones and after the lack of any service for almost 30 minutes, they had no right or need to pass judgement.
For a relatively pricey restaurant that, on the service, takes pride in providing what should be a positive dining experience, they did everything but. Do yourself a favor and pick a different restaurant at Kierland. There are plenty of other great options to choose from.
My favorite dish is the incredible macadamia-crusted snapper, a must for any fish-lover. Both the island rice and the cauliflower-potato mash are great side dishes. Service was impeccable, just about perfect. The noise level is always a bit high, especially sitting in the front section toward the views. My only less-than-perfect comment is that the key lime pie, one of my favorites, just didn't seem to have as much lime taste this time. That would never deter me -- it's a wonderful spot for a delicious meal. I have never had a weak meal here and we've been coming here for years!
Food was good , it was romantic with a candle light dinner. This was my first time there so wasnt sure really what was good on the menu. It would of been helpful if the waitress would of had recommendations on the meals. Price was resonable. Nice place to dine.
While the food was great and the service was fine, we were seated next to a table with a screaming toddler whose mother chose to stay at the table for 10 minutes until she finally left with the child. I realize that we were eating early but since I had my 83 year old mother with me I didn't have a choice. It unfortunately put a damper on the evening's experience.
We dine at Tommy Bahamas often. This was our worst experience ever, due to our inattentive waiter! Perhaps his first table ever? If so, they certainly need to train better. We didn't receive the correct items, never had our dirty plates removed & drink refills were never replenished unless I flagged down a wait manager.
We were celebrating two birthdays, party of five, this past Sunday. We are still talking about the inattentive experience. Ugh.
Never a disappointment. The crab bisque soup appetizer and the macadamia nut encrusted red snapper is to die for, accompanied by rice almondine and asparagus. So yummy!
Love the Caribbean steel drum live music on Saturday nights. This venue takes you away to a tropical paradise, especially when dining al fresco on the lovely patio.
Service was fantastic and friendly from hostess to sit down. My guest enjoyed the blackened fish tacos as well. Will definitely come back again!
Although you can’t reserve outdoor dining at Tommy Bahamas on Open Table, we got a regular reservation for indoor dining which the hostess graciously changed to outdoor dining when we asked her upon our arrival. Full moon shining through the palm trees on a 75 degree November evening... what’s not to love? Oh, and the meal was wonderful too!
My husband and I are moving from Greenwood Village, CO to Scottsdale, AZ. During our house hunting, we have made four trips down to the Scottsdale area. Each time we have stopped into the Tommy Bahama store to do a little shopping and also to eat at the restaurant.
During our last visit, we sat in the bar so we could enjoy the World Series while we ate. We later found out that there were two guys fresh from your trainee program handling the bar business. They were both great and we were served promptly.
It wasn't long before Zach White walked by our table, surveyed our places and asked if we wanted something or another. It was evident to me by his attention to detail that he was more than a server. I asked him if he was the manager and he admitted he was. I told him I thought he must have been because his level of observation was more keen than we would have expected from even well-trained wait staff.
One thing led to another and a nice conversation followed. What a gem Tommy Bahama has in Zach. He represents the Tommy Bahama brand perfectly and is a real asset to the company.
Zach has shown us he is caring, giving, and willing to reach out to help others. His expertise reaches deep and he's one of those rare professionals who comes ready to play all out. He uses his skills, training, and talents to make the dining experience around him so much better.
We certainly look forward to our moving the end of November and will be regulars to your store and restaurant. Well done!!
Zach is a real Class Act.
Two thumbs up ... WAY UP!!
We have been to Tommy's in Hawaii and Las Vegas, but wanted to check out the Scottsdale location for a possible 100th birthday for my Mom. We had a wonderful meal on Friday night. The Macadamia Nut Crusted Snapper and World Famous Coconut Shrimp were great the the Triple Chocolate Cake was to die for. Service was good and pricing reasonable for this type of establishment. The view/ambiance was outstanding. Highly recommend.
Two of us for lunch and both ordered crab cakes (the double order for each). They were terrible. Instead of using lump crab meat, they obviously used canned crab. Ugh! Would never expect that from TB. The cabbage slaw served alongside it was oddly flavored and unappetizing. Fortunate we had ordered roasted asparagus and French fries because that was the only worthwhile part of the lunch. A total waste of money. Have dined here and at other TB restaurants and this was a terrible letdown. Cannot fathom returning to this place.
We had an excellent meal at Tommy Bahama's celebrating two birthdays in our house! We started with the Coconut Shrimp and it was the best we ever had. The entrees we all had were delicious! The filet mignon salad, fish tacos and ribs. All amazing! We also had two birthday desserts. A chocolate mousse cake and then crème brulee that was in a pineapple. All exceptional and we all really enjoyed it. We will definitely be back!!! We would all highly recommend!
I met a friend for lunch and we sat outside. The waiter could not have been more helpful or accommodating. The food was great and came out on time and was hot and nicely presented. I like that you can dine inside or out and each is very enjoyable. I would definitely go there again for lunch or dinner!
Service was ok. Took too long to get our order in. Server was MIA for about 15 minutes. Forgot our water after he told us he was bringing it. My opinion is after we have paid, leave the book on the table. Pick it up after we leave. If you participate in Rest. week, train the servers to not treat the guests as though they are cheap or not worthy of great service just because we want to try new things. Also, do a better job as a host and mark down that we made it to our reservation. Open table said we were marked as a no show. I assured them we did. I expect great service no matter the cost of the meal. I also tip very well based on that. However, the atmosphere, location and ambiance was great.
We enjoyed the complete dining experience, we nearly wanted to order from all menu categories because the offerings were all too good to not try on our first, but we left some undiscovered tastes for next time! Atmosphere is pleasing on tge eyes and mood. Very friendly staff throughout. Loves the rum coconut dessert ending.
