Tommy Bahama Restaurant & Bar - Sarasota Ratings and Reviews
Great location and a lively restaurant. Hostess not friendly and seems bored with the job. Bartender Lee has a poor attitude and this is well known throughout the restaurant. If you can overlook the bad attitude at the host stand and the poor attitude from Lee at the bar you will enjoy this location.
the food is always great
we live on St Armands so we love to walk to the restaurant
the usually have a great variety of specials that are off the regular menu so it is always an adventure
U must have the pinacolata cake, it is just the best care ever
It is a bit noisy when crowded, they could aa few things to absorb the sound
The food was fabulous, the environment was just too noisy, and we like high energy but there is a almost no ability to converse over the noise levels. The service was good but not great for the price.I would go again knowing the prices are above the overall experience.
We normally love this place but this was not a regular night. Restaurant was busy but not packed. Service was not close to normal. We waited 20 minutes to get a wine order then another 10 to actually receive a glass of wine. Waitress had short term memory loss when asked for butter, lemon, and extra dressing. Waited 15 minutes for the bill. This is not normal. We will be back because we know it will be better.
Very Disappointed. Had a reservation for eight people, asked for a high chair. On arrival, we were taken to a table set for six. Had to ask, and wait for more chairs . Asked twice more, and waited twenty minutes (seriously) for the high chair. Took fifteen minutes for a round of water, after waiting ten minutes for anybody to ask if we wanted drinks. One guest ordered wine later into the meal. After ten minutes, we asked again. After twenty minutes, we reminded the server, again. Finally the glass of wine came after thirty minutes, and I’m not exaggerating . Beer took forever too, and we waited a long time for our server to take our order and then there were some mistakes with the food. Let me add, this place was NOT busy.....many empty tables. Food was pretty good although over priced, in my opinion. Martini was $13. We live in the area and bring guests here a lot. Tommy’s used to be one of our all time favorite places and we gladly spent more on food because the service and atmosphere were so good. Sadly, it’s just not the same place anymore.
We return to Tommy Bahama in Sarasota time and again with out of town family. Thank you for your great wait staff (Andy) and your patience with addressing dietary needs.
Food was nicely prepared, comfort food; also enjoyed the nightly seafood special.
The guitar music is so Tommy B!!
Thanks! See you soon!
We live within walking distance but have not eaten here in a while. Now we definitely will. We ate outside, which you can do at numerous places on St Armand, so that's not why we enjoyed it. It was because everything was just what it should be and no more. The cocktails were right, the food was just what we ordered and the server was there when we needed him and no more. We shared the ribs and the tuna poke with a side of almond rice. No room for dessert.
Called ahead to make sure the restaurant knew this was a Birthday celebration for my 18 year old and her friends. Let them know that she had my credit card to use and that I wanted them to bring her a special dessert. They confirmed with me that they would take care of it. Not only did my Daughter and her friends report that the waitress was rude, they also felt that due to their age, they were not given good service. Her dessert was never brought as requested and confirmed. They brought the bill and never gave her a copy of the receipt. Very disappointed in the attitude and service of this restaurant.
We always love Tommy Bahama! They were busy but not slammed and we waited for about 10 minutes or more for someone to come over to the table. That is completely unacceptable. The hostess could have ordered our drinks if they were short handled. I get that because i work in a hotel. Our waiter apologized as he should but he wasn’t very friendly. He acted like we were an inconvenience. We almost walked out.
Our waitress was wonderful!!
The chicken dish was great!
My sisters loved the burger and steak salad
My mom had the fish and chips
And tacos were good!
Didn't care for the crab salad. It was packed up to go but it dropped right thru the bag and had to toss it in the dumpster
Fun evening !
Otherwise. We loved the staff!!
Party of 8 with 7 people who had never been to Tommy’s before. I always recommend and was not disappointed. My friends are foodies and work in the food/hospitality/travel industry. They loved the atmosphere, the service, and they all thought the food was fantastic. Chicken Lollipops, Coconut Shrimp and Ahi Tuna Taco appetizers were passed around for all to share. Dinners ranged from the Fish Tacos to the Kona Rubbed Ribeye. Something for everyone!!
My wife and I ate here last week with a son, daughter in law and 2 kids, and as usual were very pleased with the entire evening. So when friends this week, 4 of whom had never been to TB, asked where we should go, I wholeheartedly recommended It. We were very pleased, as we have always been, with entrees that include the snapper, cod, chicken, and shrimp and scallops. On the negative side, it was noisier than usual, probably the noisiest it has ever been with a group of 9 behind us and a singer who, well good, was louder than we would have preferred. Our waiter served us very well; can’t remember his name. We will return on future visits.
We have been to Tommy Bahama’s a number of times and love the food, location and music. This time we sat upstairs and were quite impressed. It is quieter, more comfortable and a lot less traffic being away from the bar. Our server tried a little to hard to give us great service and we went elsewhere for dessert and more drinks. We appreciated the effort, but too many interruptions.
