Tommy Bahama Restaurant & Bar - Sandestin Ratings and Reviews
We chose Tommy Bahamas for a birthday celebration. We find the food reliably great and love the atmosphere of the garden room. Our server Marlene did a great job. Two of us enjoyed the beef tenderloin salad and the other two crispy fish. Of coarse a birthday celebration would not be complete without dessert so, we had to have the chocolate lava and the peanut butter chocolate pie.
Everything here was almost perfect... with the exception of the unfortunate temperature in the restaurant. I mean the food was great; the drinks great; service was awesome, BUT it was as though there was no air conditioning. Several of us were getting very uncomfortable by the end of dinner and no explanation was provided. This should really be worked on as we have always enjoyed our visits here, but feel like going forward, we should ask if there air conditioning is working!
The crab bisque was excellent and the coconut shrimp good but a little overdone. Creme brulee outstanding but the pina colada cake was unimpressive. My macadamia crusted anapper was overdone and my dates shrimp and grits somewhat bland, especially the andouille (but shes cajun so likes a bit more seasoning than perhaps the average diner).
Good place for drinks, small plates amd desserts.
This is one of our favorite restaurants when we vacation in Florida every year. The food is always excellent as well as the service & atmosphere. We are never disappointed. The menu has a variety of selections as does the children's menu as well. We thoroughly enjoy Tommy Bahamas and it has become a tradition for dinner at least twice on our vacation.
My wife asked to go there for our 31st Anniversary. The food and service were excellent, we shared the scallop sliders, the lump crab and avocado salad and the stuffed shrimp and 6oz fillet. Tommy Bahamas split everything for us before coming out of the kitchen; they gave each of us a full compliment of accompaniments, wow.
Always great food and good service, Mario the manager makes a point to stop by each table when he can to make sure everything was to your liking. The mixed grilled vegetables is my Mom's favorite ad the braised beef short ribs were a great special. Deeow from Thailand took great care of us.
They were super helpful seating our large group of 17 and the food was pretty good :) the wait wasn't too long compared to the other restaurants that had an hour plus wait! My gosh! The seafood was yummy and the drinks are strong! Yummmm
We are "LOCALS" and have eaten at Tommy Bahama's many times in the past. Unfortunately we will no longer do so as apparently there has been a management change, bean counters are now controlling, or something. It could be they have taken the sessional lowering food quality and increasing profit mentality whereas quality of ALL products drop when people are here for vacation. I literally picked crab shell out of my stuffed Grouper. I will not get into how an "Old Fashion "or " Moscow Mule" is now prepared and served. In the past you ALWAYS saw the manager on the floor visiting with customers to ensure everyone was satisfied but NEVER saw a manger this time. Regardless of the rational/reason for such a dramatic change we will NOT be back again. We have lived in the area most of our lives and have ALWAYS been able to spot a good restaurant which has made a turn into the NEW mentality of make more profit by providing lesser quality for the customer. We typically pay well over $350 for a good dinner and have no issues doing so. Will NEVER do so again here..... Outback would be a better selection "NOW"....
I found this establishment more of a tourist location than anything. The food wasn't on the level of a Ruth Chris, but the price wasn't far from it. Overall it was good, but no wow factor.
Our waiter was either overworked, or somewhat new to the business.
Tommy Bahamas is always good but never great.
need to add more dishes to the menu...wine list is very good for a tourist city
Would love to see them do something special for us locals who support them 52 weeks of the year and not just a vacation week.
