Tommy Bahama Restaurant & Bar - Palm Desert Ratings and Reviews
So, I eat here very often. Usually for lunch. They do not take lunch reservations, but it is in one of the most beautiful shopping areas in the world , so if you go to the restaurant at say 1130 and put your name in for 1230 and walk around, you can have a table at 1230 pretty much confirmed.
When the place is jam packed, which is often, then the service is pretty poor. The waiters are very busy and it is hard to get anyone to come back to the table for water, or dressing etc. Everyone is very nice, but a runner should follow up at regular intervals to help the waiter to keep the table going during the meal.
We made a reservation and we’re sat at the entrance. Wonder why we even made a reservation. Could of walked off the street and got terrible seating.
Also we wanted to add two more people to our table but open table said there was no availability. But there was a table for two right beside us and a ton of other tables open. So we could of easily had our friends come.
Food was great.
We did get the last early reservation - it was Valentines day, and the table was right at the entrance, and was very noisy - but the food and service were great! I always like to recommend this restaurant and always take company to it as the menu is varied enough to suit everyone.
It was a beautiful night, and we expected to sit outside. However, hostess told us because we had not requested outside on Open Table ( who new?) that it would be 1 1/2 hour wait for outside! It was VERY noisy inside, hard to even have a conversation! We were disappointed as we had out of town guests!
Appetizer: coconut shrimp with papaya mango chutney. A very sweet dish. Skimpy amount of chutney. Includes at least 1 1/2 cups of Island Slaw, which was also very sweet. Shrimp were a reasonable size for the price and were properly cooked and juicy.
Entre: Baby Back Ribs: Properly cooked, juicy. Too sweet. Served with another 1 1/2 cups Island Slaw. Potato/cauliflower mash was tasty.
Entre: Fillet Mignon: Cooked as ordered (med-rare) but blue cheese was not melted into the steak. Potato/cauliflower mash was good.
Bread was served with a sweet cinnamon butter but server was happy to provide plain butter.
If you like sweet, this is the place for you!
The noise in the restaurant was unbearable
We were seated inside the restaurant and could not hear the person across the table
Music was loud and obnoxious !!!
We were moved outdoors Away from the music
And it was a nice relaxing and quiet setting
Never be seated inside unless you enjoy loud music
And do not care to have a conversation at dinner
The restaurant atmosphere is warm and inviting. The food is always delicious with lovely presentations. You have the option of eating outside which has a view of El Paseo and the mouns. The sea scallop sliders are my favorite! You can have 1/2 serving of desert if you like. The rolls are out of this world with cinnamon butter. The service is always superb.
We've always liked Tommy's. This time (no room out on the porch) we were not as pleased. Table in the back of the dining area lacked TB ambiance and that's where all the kids were. Our waitress was probably overworked though friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. She forgot several requests - had to be reminded to bring a 2nd glass of wine and requested water - and my 'handcrafted' martini came without the listed olive juice and blue cheese olives. Bar very slow, too. All a bit frenetic. Food was delicious, though, so that saved the night.
Second time during our trip to Palm Desert that we went to Tommy Bahama. Great store! Nice restaurant. We went with the pub type food this time- my husband had the french dip, which he said was excellent. I had the Cuban Sandwich which was also excellent. Not crazy about the yucca fries, though. Macadamia Crusted Goat Cheese was very nice, but not really worth the price. Pina colada cake is to die for, though! Highly recommend it.
We sampled most every appetizer, many specialty drinks, salads and desserts. Our server was very fun but I forget his name. We used our $50 gift cards (2). They did not rush us and they kept our cocktails full and the table cleared of used dishes. Very attentive server. Enjoyed all of the various items especially the puff tacos
My husband and I have been to multiple Tommy Bahama restaurants and love them. This one in Palm Desert was excellent. I had the salmon special which was delicious and my husband had the fish & chips which also was delicious. Pina Colada cake is always our favorite dessert! Yummy!
We arrived on time and escorted to the most beautiful outdoor table. Our server Kimberly was there within minutes to help us navigate the menu of drinks. We then took our time and selected several items for tasting. The food was wonderful. The best blue crab on the West Coast. Kimberly was excellent. Checked on us regularly and kept us fed and full of drinks. We had a great time. We go at least 2 times a year, and we have never been disappointed.
