Tommy Bahama Restaurant & Bar - Palm Desert Ratings and Reviews
The most embarrassing experience ever. We flew down friends from Seattle for his 50th Bday. We were blessed with a $200 Open Table gift certificate, we gave it to our waitress at sit down to confirm ok (Cynthia)-she said no problem. At check-out, I was told does not apply by the manager Darrell. Darrell was the absolute worst manager for a service business. He needs to not represent a great brand like Tommy Bahama. I explained we asked and provided the server the documentation before we dined and nothing was communicated that it was not approved until bill payment. Darrell came over and said sorry our server is new and there is nothing I can do about it. Really nothing? I said, you are going to allow 4 guests leave on a negative experience? Darrell did absolute nothing to take a negative situation and make it a positive. Blown away. He then asked, "What do you expect me to do?" I expect great service and to leave on our friends 50th bday to not be embarrassed and to provide a positive "goodbye", and I am not asking to be comp'd my entire meal, but some gesture that says we value our guests and we are so sorry for the miscommunication of our staff. Left a really bad taste overall, but Cynthia provided wonderful service, however the GM-Darrel was horrible and should not deal with the public.
Food is always good. Had requested an outside table for our reservation. Came early so they said no. The front desk staff is really not accommodating at all. That is consistent with every visit. Lots of tables outside but not. Sat inside which is extremely noisy and the waitress was a coukd not be bothered waitress.
Usually a great place to go but they were definitely not in their game. Needs some staff training on ensuring you listen to your client.
A really nice environment particularly on the patio. The menu offered some excellent choices from appetizers, soup, salad and entrees. Some of my favorites include the scallop slider appetizer, the crab soup, and the salad with either shrimp or steak.
Service is always near perfect and overall this is a great dining experience. We were with another couple and all of us enjoyed our food, the ambience, and the service.
As always, Tommy Bahama came through with a wonderful evening. The service was perfect, the food was delicious and the drinks were...awesome! We had appetizers, we had filet mignons and we had dessert. Every time we go to Tommy's its an experience that we talk about for days! Thank you Tommy Bahama, see you soon!
Our waitress was terrific, the location is easy to get to, the food was quite good (just short of excellent) and the vibe was good, although a touch loud for old folks like us. The only complaint I could muster up is that the coffee I ordered was lukewarm, not bad enough to keep us away though.
Went with friends for dinner. Almost everyone we take here likes the place. It has a cool vibe and the outdoor view is hard to beat.
This time noticed quite a bit or wear and tear. Torn and dirty pillows, peeling paint at the base of the banquette.
Drinks were perfect. However the server didn’t walk around the table to deliver them. She came to one end of our table and handed them to us in mid air.
Food was great and portions very generous.
Noise wasn’t bad and music was quiet enough that we could still converse.
Wonderful meal on the patio tonight. Samantha was our delightful server, and guide through the Happy Hour and regular menus. After Grapefruit Basil martinis, coconut shrimp and Mac nut encrusted goat cheese, we were treated to delicious entrees. My wife had the Thai scallops and shrimp, and I opted for the 6 oz Filet Mignon. Served on hot plates, our meals were just about perfect. Happily recommend this Tommy Bs for a nice meal and good location.
We had a wonderful evening. We were celebrating an anniversary and a birthday with friends. Kelly, our waitress, made the entire evening special. We never felt rushed or neglected. The food was excellent, and they went out of their way to accommodate us with a quiet outside table. It had been a long time since we had been to Tommy Bahamas, but we will definitely be returning.
At first they didn't see the notes for our reservation and weren't going to accommodate us but then someone else cancelled and they were able to. They took good care of us and saved the evening and we had a fabulous evening and meal with our out of town guests. Great service and great food.
We had a reservation on a busy Friday evening and were seated fairly quickly. Our server was efficient and seemed to be knowledgeable. We both had the crab bisque as a starter and while it tasted very good, it appeared that it had been sitting under a heat lamp or something as there was a thin skin forming on it. No matter, we still enjoyed it. My husband's crusted tuna also looked like it had been resting as it too looked like it had a skin and the color seemed a bit off. He said it was tasty. I had fish & chips and enjoyed my first piece of fish, which was cooked well, but the second piece seemed slightly undercooked. I did not enjoy the yucca fries, but that's just me.
We discovered Tommy Bahama’s earlier this year in Newport Beach, after reading good reviews. The atmosphere was casual, but elegant. Service was outstanding, and the dishes served were fresh and delectable. Presently, we have been visiting Palm Desert for a milestone birthday and we were pleasantly surprised to learn of a TB’s on El Paseo, and decided to celebrate there. We found the same courteous and friendly service, excellent and creative dishes, as well as a wonderful semi-outdoor dining area. What a great experience! Food at TB is always great! Love the Island Time (Happy Hour)! Bartenders and servers are always personable & friendly. My favorite is the Captiva Cocktail which is not an alcoholic cocktail, but shrimp, crab, tomatoes, onions, avocados & cucumbers in an amazing goblet of tastiness!!
Great service! Tasha was our server and she was so sweet and very attentive! The food was good but not the best I’ve ever had. I thought it was a little overpriced for what was served but it tasted good and didn’t take too long to get to us. The goat cheese appetizer was the best dish we had. Overall good experience. We were visiting from out of town.
We had a great waitress....I believe her name was Christine. She is also a nurse. Very nice and accommodating...kept an eye on us and replenished food and drink on our table when needed.
The atmosphere was great....lots of people at the bar having a good time at Happy Hour. The outdoor deck looked inviting even though it was warm outside....they do have misters.
Whenever we are in town, we always spend the evening at Tommy Bahama's.....just a great place to go!!!!!
