Tommy Bahama - New York Ratings and Reviews
This place is an upper class jimmy buffet Margaritaville. Felt like I was on vacation in midtown (which is rare because I work there). Took my mother who was in town visiting and food and beverage was awesome. Before finance I worked for 8 years in restaurants...and this place did not disappoint one bit. Bloody was great - Filet flatbread was presented and tasted excellent. 10/10 times would recommend. Solid choice in midtown...where you never know what you’re getting unless it’s high end steak houses or designer chef subpar chains (sigh).
It was the perfect birthday celebration for my husband and we got the window table in the corner which I requested. The service was excellent and the cuisine scrumptious. Our lovely waitress was very accommodating in turning our table around where we could sit side by side and she was very attentive to our needs throughout our meal. The live music was great in the bar area and we loved hearing all our favorite music from the 60's and on... The Wednesday night singer and guitar player was fantastic. Thank you for making it so special.
this was our first visit to this location of TB. we have been to the naples location, which was great! we arrived a tad early for our lunch reservation & were pleasantly greeted by the hostess. the restaurant was mobbed - lots of hungry folks - lol !! the hostess did attempt to seat us quickly - at banquette seating. in my reservation i specifically requested a booth and stated "no banquette" seating . i absolutely despise banquette seating & always specify NO such seating when i know that the location has it. she was very nice & indicated that she would check w/the mgr to see if she could get us a booth. the mgr was very pleasant & stated that he would do his best to accommodate us at a booth, as i had requested. a short time later he stated that he has a nice location for us, however, that it wasn't a booth, but close (???). well, it was a corner table at the banquette - it was still a banquette - no booth, nor close to being a booth! i did appreciate his effort & he was very nice & genuinely seemed to try to please me, so we just took the seating and made it work as best as possible. as i mentioned though, i do despise banquette seating - too close, no privacy - just completely undesirable - imo. anyway, to move on ... lol.... i had one of the specialty cocktails & eventually a cabernet - both of which were very good. hubby had a couple of seasonal drafts. for my entree i ordered the crab & avocado salad. it was large & very flavorful & the lime/caper dressing was absolutely perfect! i do wish it had more avocado though; it had much more lettuce & a very small amount of avocado. i wouldn't hesitate ordering it again. my husband was very pleased with the pork shank special which was incredibly tender and delish. there are many items on the menu that are to our liking - just couldn't order all of them. next time!
We were there early, 5 PM, before a 7 PM show, so restaurant was quiet. Server was attentive and food was very good. We had a $50 promo card from T Bahamas, so that made it better yet. Poke appetizer was delicious, along w bungalow salad and fresh catch of day (snapper) and filet mignon was very tender. Couple next to us had key lime martinis, that looked delicious. Next time, I'll try! Only negative was that it was cool in restaurant, maybe near a blower vent. Wind was whipping around outside, so I needed a fire, not a/c. LOL
Great food and service with live music. However there was a cocktail party with a large group of people when we arrived so noise level was high. But our waitress was super friendly and attentive, more than offset the uncomfort brought by the noise. Will go back again.
On a personal level, my family 'collects' TB restaurants around the country, with Mecca being the Naples flagship. During 2 weeks of corporate meetings for my firm in NYC, I suggested we try the 5th Ave. location (which I have been to with the fam). Suffice it to say that based on my CEO's love for his first taste, we ended up eating dinner there 3x in a 10-day period! Food is always consistently great nationally. Service was equally great each time. On the last night, the boss even took us downstairs so each of us could pick one item in the store as thanks for our work. Note to Mgt: YOUR WELCOME for our small part in 'making your numbers' last week! LOL.
I do enjoy Tommy Bahama very much. Like a little tropical get away in midtown. The food is good enough to enjoy and the bar staff is usually good. Great for business lunches in a part of town that doesn’t have much. My single issue is the hamburger. NYC is a hamburger Meca and TB could do a better job with the beef in order to keep up. But the tortilla chips are among the best! As is the Meyers’s Dark & Stormy
I usually love everything on the menu! I've been to dine here several times but this time my meal was not so great. I had tge cruated freah catch which happened to bw snapper this particular night. It was very bland and not as I expected. It really didn't live up to the caliber of the other dishes. My friemd had the fish tacos which she said were just "ok". Appetizers, drinks and dessert were great.
I have been to this restaurant many times. It is a 'go to' for me. The first time, a group of work colleagues took me out for a birthday lunch. Most recently, I took my cousin and her work colleague our for dinner and they LOVED the restaurant. We felt like we were in the Islands on vacation. They will be back in a month for another conference, and we plan to go again. Server was great. And Manager kindly stopped by our table to say hello and greet us. Nice touch. Have always highly recommended Tommy Bahama NYC.
Beautiful restaurant with a great bar. Had the filet mignon flat bread as an appetizer which was delicious.
For an entree the poke tuna burger was a disappointment. Over cooked....should have been served rare which was suggested and requested. Overall though a positive experience. Oh and a great pineapple mojito helped me get over the burger
