Tommy Bahama - New York Ratings and Reviews
I’m a fan and always up for a cool lunch at Tommy Bahama’s. The environment is nice and makes you feel like you’re not in NYC. It can get loud and you’re pretty close to the next table, but the food is good and if you can get there when it’s not too crowded, it’s awesome.
The waiter was polite but he was unattentive. He really just didn't give us great service . It took a while to order drinks and even longer to place a food order. We had crab chowder a burger and a full rack of ribs. Ordered a burger medium rare it was 100% raw , ribs were served warm to cold. it was nice to see the restaurant but nothing special. I wouldn't go back -the manager gave us one drink free for the inconvenience of the undercooked Burger. It's an okay atmosphere for spring and summer but the wrong choice for New Year's Eve. Tommy Bahama fit stick to clothes and small leather goods.
The food and atmosphere were great. Normally the service is good as well, and our waitress was excellent. However, the restaurant called me about 4 hours prior to our reservation and told us the kitchen was closing exactly at the time of our reservation. We had to hustle to arrive early. OpenTable, you need to account for this when restaurants notify you of any modifications to hours.
We've been to this location several times and we always enjoy it. We started with Mai Tais and Spiked Guacamole. I had the Bungalow Salad my husband ordered the special salad with arugula. When the salads came, the greens looked exactly alike. When we called it to the attention of our waiter, she agreed and immediately sent back to the kitchen for a new salad for my husband. For our meals we changed to red wine by the glass; there were several to choose from, including several at the higher end. My husband had the Tuna and I had the grilled vegetable plate with cauliflower steak. Everything was delicious. The only disappointment was that despite having a reservation we were seated in the back, away from the street-side windows. In the end, we were very comfortable there and had a great meal.
Good food, very bad service. Our waitress ignored us most of the evening leaving or used plates on our table for a long time after we had finished. When she finally approached us I asked for our bill and my desert to take out. Another 45 mins went by and nothing do we got up and left. Wanting to pay at the front desk.
Christmas Eve dinner after a day at the tree & Radio City. Sat promptly when we arrived, not crowded.
We ordered drinks & asked waiter for bread for the table.
Drinks arrived & we ordered our meals. No bread yet.
Our meals arrived, bread 10 minutes later.
Maybe understaffed or overwhelmed.
I have dined at the restaurant in Naples, much better service.
Food was excellent as usual and service was friendly and attentive but two small nits on this visit. Two of us ordered soup and the waiter forgot to bring out before our entree. Also we had a reservation for 6 and were seated at a table for 4 with 2 seats at either end, one sticking out into the aisle with heavy waiter traffic.
We like the food here. Service can be erratic. On this visit the front of the restaurant was sectioned off for a private holiday party. Needless to say they were enjoying their cocktails and were very loud. This impacted our leisurely dining experience in a negative way. I believe when restaurants decide to take large parties that will impact the "regular" diner, they should accommodate the other patrons in some way... a drink, dessert, something to acknowledge the inconvenience... not just think it's ok.
Our coconut shrimp, crab cakes, salads, and the taco soup were very good. Chicken and Tuna entrees were enjoyed by all. The cold mashed potatoes served with the chicken were happily replaced.
Wines and drinks were very good.
Not our best meal here but still like the restaurant. Service needs improvement and ask about parties that may be booked... I guess it will calm down after the holidays but still beware.
Reservation was for 1:15 PM, but we were seated closer to 1:45 PM. Very noisy. The server was told a member in our party had sensitivities to onions, however he didn't make sure the food was modified to accommodate this allergy between the line and expo delivery. We also waited a long time for the food, along with our drinks to start.
Our 2nd visit within a week and our new favorite spot! Not only was food outstanding, but service was wonderful, from the minute we stepped off elevator & we were greeted by Dave, to the bartender, Altman and then our server Nick. They all made us feel so special and at his busy time of year that is rare! Nick remembered our drink order form the week before!! I have already sent friends and we will be back very soon! A true Gem that I can't believe we are jsut discovering.
Wonderful cocktail menu, Coconut shrimp & filet flat bread apps crazy good. Blackened fish tacos awesome!!
