Tommy Bahama - New York Ratings and Reviews
On a personal level, my family 'collects' TB restaurants around the country, with Mecca being the Naples flagship. During 2 weeks of corporate meetings for my firm in NYC, I suggested we try the 5th Ave. location (which I have been to with the fam). Suffice it to say that based on my CEO's love for his first taste, we ended up eating dinner there 3x in a 10-day period! Food is always consistently great nationally. Service was equally great each time. On the last night, the boss even took us downstairs so each of us could pick one item in the store as thanks for our work. Note to Mgt: YOUR WELCOME for our small part in 'making your numbers' last week! LOL.
I do enjoy Tommy Bahama very much. Like a little tropical get away in midtown. The food is good enough to enjoy and the bar staff is usually good. Great for business lunches in a part of town that doesn’t have much. My single issue is the hamburger. NYC is a hamburger Meca and TB could do a better job with the beef in order to keep up. But the tortilla chips are among the best! As is the Meyers’s Dark & Stormy
I usually love everything on the menu! I've been to dine here several times but this time my meal was not so great. I had tge cruated freah catch which happened to bw snapper this particular night. It was very bland and not as I expected. It really didn't live up to the caliber of the other dishes. My friemd had the fish tacos which she said were just "ok". Appetizers, drinks and dessert were great.
I have been to this restaurant many times. It is a 'go to' for me. The first time, a group of work colleagues took me out for a birthday lunch. Most recently, I took my cousin and her work colleague our for dinner and they LOVED the restaurant. We felt like we were in the Islands on vacation. They will be back in a month for another conference, and we plan to go again. Server was great. And Manager kindly stopped by our table to say hello and greet us. Nice touch. Have always highly recommended Tommy Bahama NYC.
Beautiful restaurant with a great bar. Had the filet mignon flat bread as an appetizer which was delicious.
For an entree the poke tuna burger was a disappointment. Over cooked....should have been served rare which was suggested and requested. Overall though a positive experience. Oh and a great pineapple mojito helped me get over the burger
I've dined at Tommy Bahama for lunch mostly as it's close to my office. It is reliably good and at night, there is the added bonus of really nice live music. It's a perfect spot for a post-work drink and/or meal. We really enjoyed it and will certainly be back.
Frequent this restaurant during the week for business lunches. Always serves great quality food and has a wonderful upbeat vibe with a terrific host who is on top of everything. Highly recommend this retaurent for folks lookin g for a good lunch spot in midtown
Had a group of 6 go for a birthday dinner.
The restaurant is upstairs from the bar, and was a little tricky to find. I'd recommend better signage - we all had trouble finding It.
Once you do go up the winding staircase - the Venue is tropical chic. Nice views, leather banquettes and booths, cute decor and palm trees all lend themselves to an elegant tropical vibe.
There was live music for a little while, but ended around 9. I think this is definitely and early dinner/ happy hour venue. The music after the band was hard to hear otherwise- and without background noise the two serving stations in the middle of the floor became noticeabley noisy with glass replacements and silverware refreshed constantly throughout the night. Would recommend limiting that noise if possible while it's so quiet.
The server was friendly and easy going and accommodating to various tweaks to the menu items and made it clear however we wanted it was fine.
The food was great! Had a variety of the apps and entrees and everyone was happy. The chicken tortilla soup was delicious and the steak flatbread was a table favorite.
The service throughout the meal was good but could have sold some more drinks if they came by more often. We were waiting for water refills pretty regularly, but staff was friendly and accommodating and they let us stay without being bothered even when it was clear we were the last customers (which was at 11 so this is not a late night place).
Overall great experience - would recommend.
Excellent take on island food and tropical cocktails. Portions are over generous and desserts have to be shared as they are gargantuan. Noise level is ridiculous at lunchtime. Clearly everyone is enjoying themselves. Dinnertime is a much more mellow vibe. Reservations are a must. We have been here and at other Tommy Bahama restaurants around the country and have always had an excellent meal.
