Tommy Bahama Island Grille - Newport Beach Ratings and Reviews
Whenever we travel we find time to dine at Tommy Bahama. There isn't one where we live. So why? Because the food is great. Bisque, fish tacos and finishing with Pina Colada cake is a must. Fun atmosphere and good service and great food equals perfect evening.
Amazing dinner at Tommy Bahamas, one of our favorite restaurants. They always have excellent service and food. Tonight was extra special. When they overheard our friends toasting to my husband who served in the military since it was Veteran's Day, they surprised us by comping his meal. Totally unexpected. We are grateful for their generosity. So proud to be an American.
a nice luncheon with relatives was tarnished by the reveling guests at other tables which made it impossible to hear our own conversation.......staff was notified but did nothing to address the situation........no wonder most guests prefer the patio......try the nearby Gulfstream Restaurant, I wish we had...............next time.......
My mango serrano margarita started things off just right with a perfect blend of sweet, salty, and spicy. My wife also loved her classic mojito. We then had our usual coconut shrimp, which was as great as ever. She had the chicken, which was a huge breast so she took half of it home. I continued on the seafood train and tried the Thai shrimp and scallops. They were perfectly cooked, with a wonderful coconut curry sauce. We shared a malted chocolate pie with our two friends and one dessert was enough for all four of us. A great meal from start to finish with a very attentive staff.
Loved the atmosphere inside the restaurant. Cute and cozy for a pleasant casual evening out as a family. The outside patio was a little sparse, so we chose to sit inside. The bungalow salad and the ahi tuna taco appetizer was amazing. The steak was tender and good, but overpowered by the sauce it was served in. The ramen was not flavored like really good ramen usually is, which was a disappointment. No miso flavor... it was more like a hot and sour flavor. Very strange. Overall would recommend... be sure to try the tuna tacos and bungalow salad!
Food good. Service initially good. Issue with incorrect bill. No apologies from waitress and another person ? Manager. Charged credit cards incorrectly.
However received a call from the general manager the next day with an apology and explanation. Handled very well. Will return to restaurant
Very noisy could hardly hear each other especially with live music which was very annoying sound was bad and I hate shouting all night not at all relaxing I left with a headache
food is very very mediocre not served hot bread although warm is white bread hmm white bread really
Lots of high calorie options I opted for blue crab salad it was fine so if I did ever return I suggest only the salads everything else is fried or pretty heavy which is sad
Noted we had an anniversary on the reservation...no mention of it by the server...asked the hostess as we were leaving (happened to pass her in the restroom) why they asked on the reservation if we were celebrating an occasion if they didn't do anything to celebrate it...she informed me that it would have been noted on our table ticket and the server should have noticed it...she said she would send a Manager to our table, but I declined as we had already finished our meal, and our table had already been cleared...disappointing to say the least...food was excellent as always.
We have a local timeshare and have made a point of visiting Tommy Bahama’s for several years. This year, while the food and ambiance were up to expectations, our server, while very friendly and cordial, seemed stretched a bit thin. It didn’t seem like there was enough staff for a busy evening. Never noticed this in the past.
Nice outdoor seating with a water feature, quiet with outdoor heating lamps. Good service from our waitress. Great food. World famous shrimp was awesome for an appetizer. Lobster grilled cheese and tomato bisque was perfect as well as the Cuban. So stuffed after dinner, it was sinful to eat the key lime pie. Would go again.
We requested an outdoor table upon arrival and were told that there were not any tables free outside due to larger party reservations. However, we were placed right next to one of the outdoor areas that did not have anyone seated at any of the tables set and were told the same reason when asked. Imagine my surprise when we found people being seated in this area over the next hour with groups the same size as ours. Highly disappointing experience overall, the food was very average for the price and not memorable, and two of our guests did not like their very basic cheeseburger, not sure how that could be substandard but it was. I'm sorry to say we will not be back despite the very good key lime pie. I will find it somewhere else.
