Tommy Bahama Island Grille - Newport Beach Ratings and Reviews
Service was great and food was delicious - The fish tacos were exceptionally good !
My only concern was the noise level which made it difficult to converse with more than one person and unfortunately you cannot do any thing about this !
Overall a great lunch !
Always great to be back in the hands of the most capable staff at Tommy Bahama. The receptionist was extremely helpful this evening in getting me in and a seat on the outdoor patio. I can't say enough about how much we enjoy this location as the food, service and atmosphere can always be counted on to be superb! Strongly recommend to anyone who is looking for some special, fun and fabulous food.
Coconut shrimp appetizer was incredible (and I don't care for coconut all that much). In fact, we ordered a second before the first one was even gone. Ribs were fairly spicy and were very good, but a tad too spicy for me (but the server had told me they were spicy, so I blame me for that one). All tables were full so it was pretty loud - but it was fine since we were at a round table. Our server was very nice, knowledgeable, patient (since we took a while to get too the menu). Enjoyable evening.
We come at least once a month to this place- have never been so mistreated. Arrived 10 minutes early, waited for about 20 to get seated. That is ok. Got seated next to the door- asked for another table, seeing there were several opened was told no. Was told they were previously reserved- I had to understand (guest never arrived). Our waiter was short tempered and rude with us, very pleased with the people leaving next to us. Adke waiter if we could move to that table- he said ok. As guest left. we ask cleaning crew, that we were moving to that table, not to put any clean silverware- he responded we were not going to move, that he didn't care what w were told we were not moving. The waiter came said why did we want to move- we explained our friend was just recuperating from a bad cold and didn't want the cold draft, he said they turned off the A/C as per our request, he said that was it. We decided it was not worth to argue with people handling our food, so we stayed put. The only time he became pleasant was when the bill came. Guess he didn't realize you tip for good services, not for mistreatment, rudeness, condescending attitude and abuse. Really bad experience ( food for restaurant week was not the best- felt rushed- soup came is together with appetized, bill before dessert!)
Nathan was really a great server; but the restaurant is too loud for my taste. Food was above average but my friend and I each had a different soup and neither of us enjoyed our soup. We loved the filet mignon flatbread and our sandwiches and dessert were excellent. No on the soup; no on the noise level - the rest was great!
I love this place as I drive a long distance to dine with them on purpose. Lump crab cakes were out of this world. I had issue with the Halibut special, overcooked, but they took care of it immediately as well as taking it off my bill. Service was consistent. The bar was busy being a Thursday night with musician. I would STRONGLY recommend this location to anyone - individual and/or family gathering as the food is made with quality ingredients, service is professional and you leave a Happy Camper!!
We are from out of town, but come here whenever we get to Orange County which is about 3 or 4 times a year. The food is always good, the service is outstanding, and its just a very comfortable place to spend an hour or two with friends or family. It is one of our go to places for a nice casual evening.
