Tomatoes Ratings and Reviews
It was way too noisy in the bar area. We asked to have the music lowered at least 4 times. They did lower the music each time but it was still way too loud. One of my friend's fish came cold. Another friend thought her chicken did not taste fresh. We have eaten at Tomatoes many times. This past visit was below par.
I work in a restaurant so whenever I go out to eat I am overly critical and I am Never disappointed by Tomatoes !!! They have great food great service ( Charles was great as well as the bussers). We started with the grilled octopus which was tender and tasty with a delicious sauce A+ and the lentil soup which was very good. I had a Cesar salad which is always tasty and my son and I both had the duck for dinner it’s our favorite entree on the menu. Always crispy and delicious with a tasty blueberry sauce... Overall a great dinner and a great night spent with my son.
Waitstaff very informative, but food was underwhelming. Long Island duckling was crisp, but consequently meat was over cooked and dry. Accompanying rice and sugar snap peas were completely unseasoned. Friend ordered crab cakes, which were tasty. Last weekend of summer menu, so many items unavailable. Bummer.
Menu descriptions could be better -- bacon and deviled eggs app was ungarnished, and eggs were breaded and fried! We would not have ordered if described accurately. Overall, it looked like the kitchen could care less about presentation. Disappointed.
Found you by chance 10 years ago in a travel guide while planning a weekend getaway.
Fell in love with the atmosphere, variety and quality of the menu + the exceptional service and attention to detail by your wait staff. We vaca @ the beach every summer and you are on our permanent list of must dos ! You never disappoint us with your menu and options. Most accommodating and you are always making sure we are being taken care of.

Worst ever experience at Tomatoe's. Very, very disappointing. Usually a great meal. Started with poor seating in the back corner of the small room off the bar. Large groups in the room so it was very loud. Couldn't hear each other talking. Waitress was awful. Had only three tables and was not attentive nor friendly. Steaks were very disappointing.
There were 3 of us. I did ask for easy seating because of a walker and/or cane--difficulty sitting. Usually not a problem but this was a special occasion. I was seated in a corner booth type seat with one chair meaning 2 people had to sit in the booth part. Very close tables and when I presented it to the hostess she offered nothing else. Very disappointed. Also we were there early and there were many empty tables when we first arrived, and still the service was average at best.
Wait staff was inexperienced and in over her head but that can be overlooked since all of us have been new to work experiences. My green beans were steamed and not prepared with garlic and oil but that was corrected quickly. The major issue that could not be corrected was that my steak was tough beyond anything I have experienced. It could not be sliced untill the third knife was provided.I was chewing forever, !!!!
That in itself was not acceptable.
Excellent Sushi. It can be delayed, so order before putting in drink orders. Great wine list. We had the burger (prime rib, brisket, and filet with gruyere cheese, mushrooms and onions), outstanding. The tuna was sushi grade lightly seared. The skirt stead was prepared rare and was tender and juicy. I recommend the peanut butter pie for dessert or the mixed berries to people who enjoy fruit for dessert. We all enjoyed. The bill came to $200 for three people. Not cheap but good value. Service was prompt, friendly and attentive. The bar was active and noisy with music, but far enough away to be ignored.
We always enjoy Tomatoes! The food is consistently good and it is nice to have some menu changes at times. I usually enjoy one of their delicious specials, but opted for the clam and pasta entrée, which was nice and light and tasty. Our table locations was ok, but the noise level is always a bit too much anywhere for easy conversation. But we know that when we go there and still enjoy it always.
The table you decided to give us was horrible. We had to sit near larger parties that was right by the dance floor area which was very loud and we were unable to enjoy our dinner. It was special occasion to celebrate a milestone birthday with my family and unfortunately we did not enjoy it.
Party of 4. Steak was tough; crab cakes totally flavorless; sushi was good. Too expensive by far. Also the menu is 3/4 sushi and not enough other dishes. Seems to be catering to the "privileged who eat sushi" younger crowd and they don't care about good value
